by Gerardas Norkus

Did you know that you can earn extra cash by joining incentive-based websites and accepting paid offers on the Internet? For example, provides over 100 free trials, samples and surveys.

Unfortunately, in most cases these opportunities are only available to the US residents.

Here's what happens when you join a "Paid Offers" company and accept offers on their website:

Some merchants, for example AOL, pay up to $40 for each prospect who agrees to try their service for free for 1 month! So, it's a win/win situation for both the member who accepts the offer and the owner of the incentive-based company.

3. The merchants that pay these huge affiliate commissions for each member who accept their products usually manage to turn the majority of these prospects into loyal customers by following up with them by email or phone. As you can see, everybody wins in this kind of business. It's a win/win/win situation!

As you can see, the owners of top-performing incentive-based websites make thousands of dollars by marketing these merchant offers. It only takes a couple of hours to run the "Paid Offers" business once the website is up and running.

Sell More With Affiliate Marketing

by: Scott Lindsay

If you have your own business you know what that can do for you. It means having prosperity and financial freedom. And if you extend your business to the Internet, this will only add to your exposure and expandability. Instead of reaching people locally, this affords the opportunity for the business to reach people on a global scale.

And if you are trying to reach more people with your product than you have done before you may want to consider having other people help sell your stuff. If you do, you can increase sales of your products, thereby making higher profits. This system is referred to as affiliate marketing. Many people do it and have found it to be a good way to make more money online.

You gain more visitors by having other people sell your products for you. You can promote your product on other websites by means of advertising. This advertising can be in the form of banners or text ads.

There is money to be made online and doing affiliate marketing is an excellent way of getting there. Many people do it and make millions selling their products. You can to. Just find people to sell your products. Make sure you good products to sell first, though, otherwise no one will buy from you or your affiliates.

Affiliate marketing is not hard to do. If you have a product that is in demand, all you need to do is place a link on your web page that you are looking for people to help sell your product. Give them the information about your product and show them how successful your product is in sales. If your product sells well, the person or people should be more than willing to jump on the bandwagon and help you sell your product for you. You just set the affiliate’s commission structure to a certain percentage, this way your affiliates make money as well as you.

Of course, you may say, “I don’t have any products to sell.” Well if this is the case, why not find someone who has a product that is making money and buy all rights to it. Then hire affiliates to sell that product. There are millions of products that are available for you to purchase and get the license to resell.

Whether you sell your own products or buy the rights to someone else’s products, setting up an affiliate marketing program costs you absolutely nothing, except some time to promote your stuff. You can’t go wrong.

Also, when you set up your affiliates to sell your product, your affiliates can also establish affiliates to help them sell your product. This is known as a two-tier program. When your affiliate recruits others, you give your affiliate a certain percentage of the sell, and he or she gives so much to his affiliate. If this pattern continues, you will eventually have several affiliates and they will also do the same. You could be looking at hundreds and thousands of people helping to promote your product. Can you imagine the income you could get from having your product exposed this way? This is true affiliate marketing at its best.

There are companies that will even manage your affiliate program for you such as ClickBank, Commission Junction and others. Just do a search on the web for "affiliate marketing provider".

Why miss out on such an opportunity. Get started in affiliate marketing and rack up the millions of dollars that are waiting for you to take a hold of.

Affiliates - Plug The Drains Of Your Profits!

by Jayant Patil

Affiliate Marketing is by far, one of the easiest ways to make money online. It is a revenue sharing business relationship between the affiliate who agrees to promote the products or services, and the merchant who offers them.

Affiliate marketers can earn a few bucks to thousands of dollars with affiliate programs and how much you earn is only be limited to your determination, creativity and strategy.

It is a brilliant way to earn online and you do not have to produce your own product or service to make a buck.

You just need to be aware that making your fortune with affiliate marketing is not instant. Profits usually start small and then get larger as your campaign starts to build momentum. You have to use your imagination to find more ways to attract more web traffíc that can convert to sales.

How many affiliate checks do you want to receive?

Most affiliate marketers will enthusiastically reply that they want to receive as many affiliate checks as possible. However, it isn't as easy as it sounds?

Most affiliate marketers assume that joining multiple affiliate programs is a wise option.

The reason for this is that as it is very easy to join affiliate programs, and there is usually nothing to lose, they are tempted to join as many programs they can get their hands on. The belief is that the more programs they belong to, the more chance they have of getting commissions.

However if you do this you fail to give your affiliate programs enough attention and work they ought to receive. This results in the maximum potential of the affiliate programs not being realized and the resulting incöme from these programs will almost certainly be disappointing.

The best way to achieve multiple streams of incöme is to concentrate on one affiliate program at a time.

Choose a product or service that you can promote passionately. Pick a product in which you have complete trust. And here's a big tip...

... The best products and services to promote are those that you use personally!

If you promote only products you personally use, your readers will be able to sense your sincerity whenever you promote a product that you have experienced. This will greatly enhance your credibility as well as your product's marketability and will encourage your prospect to purchase the product or service.

As soon as your first affiliate program is making a reasonable profit then you can proceed to joining another affiliate program and repeat the process. "Too much, too soon" is a common pitfall in affiliate marketing. Joining too many affiliate programs simultaneously in the hopes of having multiple streams of incöme simply does not work.

Focus first on one affiliate program and work on it so that it makes a good profit. Then, go find another promising program and give it your best effort. The question should not be how many affiliate checks you want to receive, but how many "high-paying" affiliate checks can you receive.

The answer lies in your determination to succeed and determination to maximize your earning potential. With the right tools, the right actions, and perseverance you can definitely make a good profit out of affiliate marketing.

I personally use only few good programs to make massive amounts of cash on complete autopilot without my own list, website or product. The top program is

Make Money with Affiliate CPA Networks

by John Barbour

One of the best ways to monetize a web site, and among the least known, is lead generation, which is actually a highly lucrative form of affiliate marketing, but is used by relatively few online marketers.

Here's how lead generation works. Listen up - this information is golden!

Monetizing a website by becoming a CPA affiliate is very, very simple. You sign up with one of the 50 or so CPA Networks that are available online, drive traffic to the custom landing pages they provide, and get paid whenever a site visitor fills out and submits a form. That is really all there is to it.

A CPA network is a clearing house that brings advertisers and publishers together. The advertiser provides a custom landing page and form, pays the network commission for making it available to affiliates, and the affiliates in turn are paid for driving traffic and generating signups.

CPA stands for "cost per action", and in this case, the action is the site visitor filling out the form. Compare this to traditional affiliate marketing, and you will see the beauty of it quickly. Done right, it is a much easier and more lucrative way to monetize a website.

A traditional affiliate must acquire traffic, do a good job of "pre-selling" the product, and send visitors on to the vendor site through an affiliate link, hoping to generate something like 1% to 5% sales, which in turn is highly dependent on the quality of the vendor's sales letter and product. If the vendor does a poor job of selling on the sales site, or has an over-priced or poorly received product, the affiliate has spent a lot of time, and perhaps money, for very little return.

A CPA affiliate, on the other hand, has a much easier job of things. He or she must still acquire traffic, either by paying for it, or by putting together a well-optimized site that gets good search engine placement for certain key words. At that point, however, the CPA affiliate's job is nearly complete.

The next step is for the site visitor to fill out a form requesting some sort of information. Keep in mind, this does not entail the visitor getting out his or her wallet, or making a decision to spend any money. All it entails is that the visitor *request free information* and give his or her name and email address, and perhaps a physical address.

You, as the CPA affiliate, get paid *even though your site visitor has yet to buy anything*. You are getting paid for a LEAD, not a sale.

Many people have no idea how huge and lucrative lead generation is, and not a clue the kind of money that certain businesses will pay for a good lead. Things like mortgage and insurance leads, in particular, are very, very valuable, as are credit card leads. But even something as seemingly inexpensive as a cell phone ring tone can bring you a nice commission per lead. Why?

These lead purchasers are planning on maximizing the long-term value of a customer. In the case of a mortgage, one lead can generate a commission of thousands of dollars to a mortgage broker. An insurance or credit card account is worth recurring commissions potentially for many, many years. Even a ring tone lead has a long-term value, since the vendor will continue to market to that person over and over again, selling them many times what it cost to acquire them as a customer.

CPA is big, big business, and one of the best ways there is to monetize your web site. If you are looking for easy and lucrative ways to monetize a web site, CPA affiliation could be your answer. To really do well at CPA, you need to learn how to use traffic generation methods like Google Adwords effectively, but in the long run, CPA is far easier and more lucrative than traditional affiliate marketing.

Pre-Selling In Affiliate Marketing

by: Peter Garant

There are many entrepreneurs today who are earning thousands of dollars each month. They have found financial freedom. And when asked what they exactly do with their online business, their answer is affiliate marketing. But what makes many entrepreneurs successful in affiliate marketing? Entrepreneurs are successful in affiliate marketing because they were able to convert the visits of Internet users into sales.

How is it possible for affiliates to easily convince visitors to purchase their products? The answer lies in pre-selling. The big secret in affiliate marketing success is an effective pre-selling. Pre-selling happens when the visitor is already willing to purchase the product even before he clicks the banner that will link him to the merchant’s website.r

In pre-selling, the target customer is already convinced of the importance of a certain product. And by the time the target customer arrives in the merchant’s website, he will immediately proceed to the order form page. Thus, the affiliate gets a high conversion of visits into sales. But how will an affiliate conduct an effective pre-selling?

First, the affiliate must realize that having banners alone is not reliable. Some visitors may click on such banners and the affiliate may be paid by the merchant in a pay-per-click compensation scheme. But the earnings from such a set-up will be meager. With banners only, the affiliate will be struggling just to earn a few dollars. Therefore, the affiliate must have more in his website other than banners.

This leads to the second thing that an affiliate must realize and do something about. The affiliate must realize that he must have good content in his website. Such good content must be two things. First, it should make the affiliate’s website land high on the list of search engines. This is putting the website in the path of target clients. And second, the good content should entice the client of the importance of a certain product or range of products.

The content, however, should not do hard selling. That is, the content should not be obvious about the selling of the products. If the visitor realizes the selling, he will have second thoughts and may not click on the merchant’s banner at all. This is why the content should be informative and should expound on the benefits of the product. The affiliate’s website should become a fountain of information for the visitors so that he will return again and again to the website.

It is also a good idea to have several products being promoted in the affiliate’s website. This way, the visitor will have choices and he will not think that the affiliate is simply selling the product.

Skillful Affiliate Marketing Advertising

by: Stephen Thomas

Affiliate marketing is really about the promotion of products with an online company. The affiliate will sign up with the advertiser or marketing arm of the company, then the affiliate will become an active looker of clients.

Advertising is the means to making a great number of consumers aware of certain products. Therefore, advertising should be both attracting and appealing to consumers. If the advertising isn't appealing enough, it won't be effective. If the advertising manages to pull the attention of consumers, then it's considered to be powerful.

To make advertising powerful and effective, the affiliate must use smart methods of advertising. An example of smart advertising is the re-use of one key concept of affiliate marketing - the harnessing of human resources. What this means, is that an affiliate may tap on the capacities of others to bring more visitors to the website.

The economics involved of making an affiliate marketing program beneficial can be simple, yet unquestionable. Say for instance, when a visitor ups a form to the website of the affiliate, the affiliate may be earning .50 cent from the company that he's promoting. In a single day, he may refer ten visitors - which is equivalent to 5.00.

Keep in mind, the affiliate may increase his income by utilizing others as well. The more people an affiliate manages to recruit or get to make purchases or fill out forms, the more money that affiliate will make.

To have a significant increase in income in affiliate marketing, an affiliate can actually do three things. First of all, the affiliate must search for a profitable site. Next, he'll need to link with companies that are generous with their leads. Last, the affiliate will need to locate a progressive and rising company online then recruit affiliates for the company.

Important Selling Techniques For Affiliate Marketing

by: Ivan Hu

This article focuses on the promotional tactics, free or paid, needed in selling affiliate products. If you’re an absolute beginner, here’s a short note on what’s affiliate marketing: it is the business where you are to sell someone else’s products on a commission-basis per sale. The process works in terms of percentages than in dollar amounts, which can vary even up to 75% for one sale.

Let’s be on to the main objective of the article now.

Making a landing page for the product on your own website is one good way to push and sell the product. You can always give a referral link in the end, directing your potential customers to the main site, where he/she may end up striking a deal. The site should also, of course, be well optimized in itself to get good ranks in search engines. This must be ensured at the beginning to lower advertising investments, because search engine ranking will eventually bring more traffic to your website. The progress may be slow, depending on the frequency of search engine spiders crawling on your page, but sure. The next technique not only fosters this progress, but is also a separate selling method in itself.

All you need to do is join a Pay-Per-Click (PPC) program and create ads for the affiliate landing page. There are many sites which offer PPC programs, but Google and Yahoo are, by far, the best and most popular. It can cost you real high if you don’t know how to benefit from these programs. You can only profit if your ad perfectly caters to the needs of your targeted buyers. The key idea is to increase the amount of targeted viewers. There are many books available on mastering the PPC systems and learning how to earn more than you spend. Here’s just a brief overview:

The concept is quite simple. Suppose you get a sale in every 100 clicks and earn 20 cents per click. So for selling a product at $25 commission, you can bag $5. And to convert potential clicks to profitable sales, you need to keep testing your ads. If you want to achieve this without a site, just put the affiliate link in as the landing page. Not all PPC companies would allow this, so read the Terms of Service well before starting off. The success in using PPC programs with the landing page depends on several factors ranging from the power of the ad to the impact of the landing page.

You may also use Web blogs to sell your affiliate products. Just submit articles and reviews associated with your product and you can have your blog listed in the leading search engines. This will also help the potential customers know about your product in advance, thereby helping them in buying. When you don’t want to buy a domain, blogs are the closest you can get to your site, because updating blogs is easy and are in regular use in affiliate marketing too. Ping your blog posts after you’ve put it up with websites like Ping-O-Matic.

The ultimate objective is to bring as much as targeted viewers to visit your affiliate site or your ad. Increasing targeted traffic means more chances of a deal or a sale, and consequently, more chances of your getting a commission as a marketer. You can sell anything under the sun through affiliate marketing. So pick the product of your choice, one which you’re comfortable in, and get started.

Are you Searching for High Income Business Opportunities?

by Robin Araoz

Yes you!

You have probably heard of the statistics related to affiliate marketers, work at home, home based business and high income business opportunities, right?

The same old story that only 95% of people involved in this kind of business is failing....

Well in many cases this is true, in fact yes I can say that a lot of people is struggling to make any kind of money online.

I see a lot of people who are completely frustrated about their results online, they try every business opportunity in ciberworld they can but for some strange reason they keep failing and failing again and again and over and over...

But, hey stop a minute! Did you noticed a problem here?...

Well, that is just the problem! People are not focusing!

They have to many balls in the air to take care of, and you can only focus on a handful, that´s for sure. If you keep going that way you´ll most likely get nowhere because you will never finish things, you must make some sort of plan.

It´s like a marathon runner, they have a goal and all they efforts go towards that specific objective. So here some things you can do to focus on you main target and make some money online:

1) What do you want to achieve?

= > More money...

= > More time with your family

= > Etc.,....

or maybe a combination of different things, anyway in the end you will decide this, but don´t delay in taking action, do it today!

and, number....

2) How are you planning to achieve your goal?

The best and easiest way to start online is to start with well know established affiliate programs and high income business opportunities.

You just sell other´s products, and you don´t even need a website, product or email list of your own!

It truly is the best kind of opportunity you can find.

But I am not going to fool you, even if it is the easiest way to get started you´ll most probably need a good plan.

And I can tell you, the hardest part is not to find a nice, the hardest part is to get people to your affiliate site to buy?

So, what I recommend if you want to get started right away is to send out a solo ad in an ezine, that way you get your ad without any other advertisment to the whole ezine.

Let´s say you there is an ezine who have 20000 subscribers and you purchase a solo ad for 40 bucks and you have an info product where you make 80 bucks for each sale, and that the the conversion rate for that specific product is a good one, then you are all set to go, even if you only make one sale you invested $40 dollars but made a $40 dollar profit!

Well, it may not sound like much but, if you have a strategy of investing part of your profits back again, you will start making some money to get started.

This is just one of the many methods you can use, but must always have an action plan, like in the example below:

1) send out solo ad

2) reinvest profit and get some more solo ads.

By doing this kind of change in your life you can be part of the other 5% people that really make money online.

Happy planning!

Focus: A Key to Affiliate Marketing Success

by David Cooper

At one time, the portion of the population who used the internet with frequency was an excited group of “hardcore” computer users excited at the dawning of a new era. They were looking for ways to spend their money online and almost any product might appeal to them. Of course, the small user base was able to choose from a relatively small number of offerings.

Things have changed. Increased web access has turned everyone from nine-year-old children to retired great-grandmothers into web surfers. Although the number of people willing to make online purchases continues to increase, the overall percentage of individuals comfortable with the process remains low. Along with the boom in users, there are now countless opportunities to spend online.

This confluence of events has transformed affiliate marketing. Back in the “old days,” a few decent web sites providing a series of product offerings could produce an income. In a mad scramble for maximum market penetration, affiliate marketers promoted as many items as possible. That “shotgun” strategy produced some revenues for awhile, but today the technique is horribly outdated.

In order to succeed within the changed parameters of affiliate marketing, wildly latching onto affiliate opportunities in hopes of finding “something” that works is doomed to fail. Instead, today’s affiliate marketer needs to focus his or her efforts.

Market research, carefully structured and “deeper” strategies, better products and superior sales techniques are essential. Instead of trying to attack every single market, the new route to success seems to be based upon finding smaller, hungry niche markets that are underserved and then effectively exploiting those market segments. Those who wander the vast plains of the internet randomly firing off sales pitches will invariably go home empty-handed. Those who carefully patrol closely defined areas with a precision marketing strategy, on the other hand, can generate enviable incomes.

As is the case in society at large, the generalist is being phased out in favor of the specialist. Developing a specialized expertise in discrete markets, understanding the demographic's preference and delivering in a way that meets their precise needs is the most likely route to affiliate marketing success.

Those who persist in trying to “throw it all up against the wall to see what sticks” will be outsold repeatedly by smart marketers who carefully focus their efforts on potentially lucrative niches within the larger marketplace.

Find good products that match well with specific market segments you can reach. Study those sectors and get a better understanding of how to sell to them. Take the time and make the effort to do more than throw products at them, hoping for the best. The more focused approach to affiliate marketing may require a bit more thought than the old shotgun approach, but with the growing number of internet users, profit potential is actually higher than ever for those who know how to isolate and exploit rip niches.

If you haven’t done so already, it’s time to get focused. Very focused.

High Income Business Opportunities With The Lowest Risk

by Jaz Lai

The tremendous growth of internet has thrown open several high income business opportunities. Many of these opportunities have little or no risk. And all this can be done from the comfort of your home. If you are willing to put in the time and effort, opportunities are plenty to make a high income.

Before looking out for high income business opportunities, you need to identify your niche. This will give you an edge and it will also reduce the risk. When you have personal interest in the business, you will be more inclined to work.

Today, one of the most popular high income business opportunities is affiliate marketing. The popularity of affiliate marketing is mainly attributed to its low risk. Many people have a wrong notion that low risk means less income. But this is not true in the case of affiliate marketing. If you are dedicated and hardworking, the earnings are huge in internet marketing.

A computer and internet connection is all that you need for affiliate marketing. You can join most of the affiliate programs for free. You also do not need to invest on products or services. You only need to make people click on your affiliate link. The purchasing and delivery of the products is also handled by the merchant's web site. In affiliate marketing, there is also no need for employees. There are also no major legal formalities.

But before starting affiliate marketing, you need to do some basic research. Firstly, you should make a detail report about the product or service to intend to sell. People should have interest in the product you select. This is essential to make a high income.

The background of the company whose product you are intending to sell should also be checked. You need your customers to return to make an income constantly. Therefore always deal with a company which has established itself in the market.

If you are not keen affiliate marketing, you can check out the numerous online job banks. They have several different high income business opportunities.

You can earn a high income by providing online tuitions. But for this you should have a thorough knowledge about the subject you wish to handle. You can teach English to students in other countries. There is a high demand for English teachers. Another popular subject is information technology.

If you are creative, there are plenty of opportunities in web designing. There is also high demand for web content writers. You can also offer data entry and transcription services from the comfort of your home.

There are plenty of opportunities on the internet. Depending upon your skill, you can select a field. And if you are innovative, you can create your own high income business opportunities.

Affiliate Programs: New Playing Field for Super Affiliates?

by Paul Jerard

Has Google changed the rules for affiliates? For “organic” search engine optimization, not too much has immediately changed. Google has been, and still is, looking for quality content, and your affiliate site must be relevant to your particular niche. In regard to Google’s pay per click program, which we know as AdWords, much has changed for affiliates quite recently.

The important issue is to understand the new rules, and why, because Yahoo and some of the smaller pay per click programs might just follow this same path. The days of putting an affiliate page together with “tons of hyperlinks,” and little or no content are, for the most part, over.

This will only hurt those affiliates who have not adjusted to the new rules. In truth, you should be familiar with, or have tried, the products and services you recommend to others, for your affiliate commissions. If this is so, all you need to do is write a review of each one of these products or services. Writing relevant content has been a foundation for search engine optimization and is worth the exercise. If you don’t have the time, hire a copywriter or a personal assistant.

What should you do to develop an affiliate site that sells? Here is a Super Affiliate secret to success: You must have a newsletter for Email marketing. You must be ethical in your Email marketing efforts. Permission based, double confirmed, opt-in, Email marketing will help you avoid any Spam accusations.

You should have a firm privacy policy, stick to it, and post it on your site. As a rule, do not ever share your lists for joint ventures. If you want credibility on the Internet, you have to establish a reputation of integrity. Instant money is tempting, but compromising your ethics, will ruin repeat business. As a result, you will be out of business.

Adding a Blog or Forum to your website will help develop free, relevant, and valuable content. Depending on what kind of Forum or Blog you set up, you may have to weed out some content Spam from people who would be better off to use their marketing efforts on relevant sites to their niche.

However, content Spam clean up issues aside, the feedback you receive from your members will be full of relevant keywords. Your answers to comments should be full of relevant content, as well. This strategy will serve as a “magnet” to targeted Internet traffic.

How can affiliate managers help their own affiliates? Again, a Blog or Forum will help; as it becomes a coaching tool for all of your affiliates, regardless of their level of experience.

Are the days of “sky scraper mini-sites” over? Not really, but if you want to run an AdWords campaign, you must have connected pages, which are full of content. Otherwise, you can pay five to ten dollars per click. Once you “do the math,” you will see the value in adding content to your affiliate site.

7 Days To Affiliate Marketing Mastery!

by: Franck Silvestre

Are you struggling with your affiliate business? Discover how to become a super affiliate in seven days with a complete step-by-step affiliate marketing blueprint.

Many affiliates are not making any money with the programs they promote because they are simply making a lot of mistakes, which prevent them from bringing their affiliate marketing business to the next level.

The right affiliate strategy can help you make your first sale in one week, or more. It will depend on how much effort you put into the battle.

Follow these seven days to affiliate marketing profit and you should do well, and see your first affiliate sale very soon. When I saw that blueprint for the first time, I was skeptical; but when I saw commissions in my affiliate account, I knew that the process was working perfectly.

The problem is not in the process but with the affiliate marketer who didn't set a clear goal with a plan and didn’t take action to achieve the success that many other super affiliates are enjoying.

So here is the plan that you must follow if you want to make your first commission in affiliate week:

Day 1: Find a profitable market

Finding a profitable market is where most affiliates fail and then give up. It's not their fault, but nobody takes the time to explain that.

When you are starting, it is better to start with a huge market that is already profitable, like golf, weight loss, finance, self-help, beauty, sports, fitness...

Start by researching what those people want, what they are searching for on the Internet. For that, you will need a keyword research tool like or Yahoo search marketing tool.

Day 2: Find an affiliate product for this market

Before finding the product, try to identify the needs of your targeted market. Your chosen product must be excellent; and you want to have a good commission that will reward you, motivate you and cover your affiliate campaign costs. You can start with or

You must verify the sales page to see if it will convert your visitors into sales.

Day 3: Know and understand your product

Know that the goal of the affiliate is to pre-sell and not to sell. The merchant must sell his product, not you.

You should pre-sell (capture and warm up) your product to your subscriber. For that, you need to know the benefits of the product for your subscribers, and the best way to do that is to own the product.

Day 4: Prepare your advertising plan

Prepare your material: ads, articles, where you will advertise this affiliate program: Start with articles and pay-per-click traffic via Google Adwords.

Day 5: Prepare yourself to capture your prospects

You must not send your visitor to the merchant page, but you must capture his name and email address first, to secure your future affiliate commissions.

Day 6: Write your killer follow-up material

After capturing his email address, the pre-written message in your autoresponder will do the work for you and close the sale.

Day 7: Drive tons of traffic to your lead capture page

When everything is ready, start to advertise your affiliate program. Actually, you will show your lead capture (also called opt-in or squeeze page) page to the world, and take your future buyer's email address. One of the most effective ways to advertise it is to write articles.

Remember: the affiliate marketing process works, and it is perfect. But it will not work without you. So take action, and when you start to see your affiliate commissions, you will know that it is working; and you will be able to master the affiliate marketing game and become a super affiliate.

Why Merchants Encourage Affiliate Marketing Programs

by Ruth Brown

More and more merchants, big and small, are introducing their own versions of affiliate marketing programs in e-commerce community every day simply because it allows them to earn more!

One of the biggest appeals of affiliate marketing for merchants is the savings they gain since they no longer have to carry out their own online advertising and promotion. The savings incurred by merchants who have gained a well-established presence and success in the affiliate marketing program is such that some of them barely conduct any promotional activity to generate of more sales. Although this does not weaken their current sales in the online business, they fail to exploit the full potential of generating more revenues for their online business and their affiliates by taking advantage of after-sales marketing strategies.

Therefore, a merchant must still conduct some form of advertising regardless if he has an effective affiliate marketing program, and hundreds of affiliates conducting the promotions for him. The merchant must look into making a second or even a third sale to the customers he has acquired. Such practice is generally called after-sales/back-end marketing. Extending and modifying the practice of after-sales marketing to the Internet can complement affiliate marketing.

Here are some ways that a merchant or even an affiliate can perform after-sales marketing:

Newsletters – Whether through email or sent through snail mail, these publications are perfect avenues to introduce other products to past clients on your mailing list. These other products can be support or complimentary products of the original your sold or a totally different one. Therefore, in the merchant’s affiliate website, there should be a part where the customer is asked whether he would like to receive free newsletters from the online company. If the customer clicks yes, then this customer is taken to another web page where he can enter his email or mailing address. When the client agrees, make sure to inform him that his name will never be sold or provided to another party.

Thank You Letters – Send your client a thank you letter for patronizing the merchant’s products as a form of business courtesy. However, in the body of the letter, be sure to include other products that you promote in which the client may have an interest in the future.

Customer Satisfaction Emails – Aside from the original thank you letter, you can send a follow up email a month after the product purchase to inquire if the client is satisfied with the product he bought. Aside from the fact that the email positively shows the affiliate’s concern for the client, the opportunity also provides an avenue to mention other available products and services.

Customers Only Webpage – Integrating a webpage for clients only in your website where online support and discussions among other users of the products can be maintained is another marketing opportunity. The webpage can include links and banners for other related or complimentary products.

Exploiting after-sales marketing strategies and realizing its benefits are relatively easier since the client has already given his trust after the initial purchase.

A Day in the Life of Affiliate Marketer X

by Robin Araoz

My name is "Affiliate Marketer X" and you know what?...

I know how you feel, I used to feel the same way, going to that boring J.O.B. (Just Over Broke)...., meeting a boss that don´t appreciate your job...., but the worst thing wasn´t that, no, the worst thing was that I did not have the time to spend with my family, they are one of the most important things in my life.

I was like a rat running around in circles trying to make things better, but I realize now that it was a stupid way of thinking, why?

Because, well, the answer is pretty simple: I was doing just that, "running around in circles", the answer was just in front of me..., and I couldn´t see it, in other words, I didn´t see the forest for the tree!

I become to realize that if you want to make things work in your life you have to change the way you make things, and most of the times the answer lies just in front of your nose. (doh!)

Well, what changes did I made you probably ask yourself?

Ok, here it goes, It might inspires you:

1) => De first thing I asked myself was:

What Do I Wan´t To Accomplish?...

Remember to try and to really "Do" something is completely different, why? because if you only "Try" to do something you will actually never "Do" it, a person who "Do", is someone who takes action in his life.

So start thinking about what you really want to "Do", take a paper and a pen and write down the things you want to accomplish by having an online business.

Then when you have a list of things start with, start with the most important things for you, because that is what is going to motivate you along the road. Think also about your most urgent needs.

Why are you starting an online venture as an affiliate or a home based business owner? Do you want to have some extra money? Do you want to do this full time? Do you want to be more time with your family?.... I think you get the picture.

2) => The second thing is:

Who Is Going To Do It?

Many people think that starting an online business is just setting up a domain name and a website and that the buyers will come....Wrong! And Wrong again!

You actually have to project yourself into the near future to see "Who" is actually going to do the work.

You have two options:

A) Do it yourself.

B) Hire someone.

Your decision will depend on two factors: time and money

Do you have more time then money on your hands or vice versa?

This will be a critical factor upon deciding this step.

Take some time and think about it and then take some more: Action!

3) => The Third:

When Is It Going To Be Done?

One of the biggest obstacles to success is in one word:

The nature of the human being is to procastinate things, we say: "Oh, I know this is important to do, but...hey! I don´t think it matters to much if I do it tomorrow!...", but reality is that when tomorrow comes, you will probably say the same thing and there you are going around in circles again...

So, stop right now thinking that way and change your way of thinking and say instead: "What can I do today to makes things different?"

And I am not talking about going to the bank and getting a loan of $100,000 dollars, no!

I am talking about those little but positive changes you can make today to make a difference in your life, i.e. right now you are taking a very important and crucial step to change things in your life and I know you want it!

How do I know it? Well, you´re still reading this right?....

4) => And the last one:

How Much Is It Going To Cost Me?

To be totally sincere, you can start a business online for under $100 dollars or less if you are willing to get your hands dirty.

In this case I specially recommend starting with affiliate programs, because you have no stock or inventory to handle.

You can set up a domain and hosting account to start with for under $20 and if you can write an honest and unbiassed review for a product you are ready and set to go.

Now, you also need visitors to your site, remember this and don´t get fooled by empty promises, if you have zero visitors you will get zero sales, it´s as simple as that.

Don´t know how to get people to your site?

Again, the money is a big factor in this game but not necessary an obstacle.

Ok, here we go:

a) Send out solo ads to ezines. b) PPC search engines c) Search Engine Optimization (SEO) d) Link Exchanges with other sites e) Traffic Exchange sites.

If you opt for the free way I recommend you starting with traffic exchange sites, but the way to use this correctly is to get people to sign up for free (they are totally free) and the you will earn traffic for their efforts.

But there are only a handful of quality sites out there, so I recommend you getting your feet wet with Instant Buzz and Trafficswarm, they are one of the best and most reliable traffic exchange sites online, in fact you can get targeted traffic coming in today.

The other methods takes a little bit more time to understand but they are definitely worth it.

This way of thinking put me on the road to success and it keeps helping me to put my thougths in order when I have to get things fixed.

Don´t sit on this information, take one step today and you are going to change the rhythm in your life.

And that my friend is part of a day in my life..., a day in the life of "Affiliate Marketer X".

Understanding Affiliate Marketing - How to Profit with the Best of Them!

by Emma Halliday

Perhaps one of the more common strategies in Internet Marketing today is that of affiliate marketing. A practice that originally started from Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, this has lead to extending the marketing arm of most companies and further maximizing the web in providing equal and beneficial opportunities to online professional who know their way around the web.

Much has been said about the different schemes of affiliate marketing such as the commonly known pay per click advertisements, referral schemes and pay per sale, similar to that of realizing commissions once a sale has been consummated. Such has become a craze among online individuals who maintain websites and blogs, giving them all equal opportunity to consider online earning through such practices.

The only downside for such practices is that some people tend to focus more on the earning schemes rather than the relevant content of their sites. Some even go as far as being considered spam and useless sites that become link farms as well, just for the sake of having a good page rank with Google. While such an occurrence is deemed only normal, earnings from such may not always be the case, since they may eventually be classified as sites that are home to spam and adaware sites just to increase page ranks without even gaining a single cent for their trouble.

There are so many products, schemes and ebooks you can buy that teach you about affiliate marketing, choosing the right one is a matter of losing money and wasting your time. So how do you choose the right one for you?

Well I suggest visiting forums and review sites, if so many people are saying a certain product is worth it then it probably is. My favourite forum is the, there are so many internet savvy people on there and they are all really friendly too. For a review site try

The top tip I can give you is to actually do something with the information you receive. The reason that 99.99% of people fail on the internet is because they didn't give the product a chance and expected to make money by just buying the product and leaving it.

My advice to you is to try something, give it your all for at least 2 months before you give up.

Good Luck Affiliate Marketer. You can do it.

I have been working on the internet now for over 2 years and I can honestly say I am extremely happy with what I do and thing that there is room for more HONEST people. To find out how you can make money by creating your own product in a matter of days visit here:

Affiliate Marketers: Should You Promote that Product?

by Rosalind Gardner

As a 'super affiliate', I set stiff criteria for how and when I choose to promote products, especially products available within the Internet and affiliate marketing niche.

First, I rarely participate in the ‘big’ product launches anymore, as many of those products (and their producers) have gone the way of the dodo bird.

Stephen Ducharme is only one example.

Do a search for his name today and in the top results are an article by Damon Zaharides titled “Stephen Ducharme Belly Flop” and a thread in Michael Green’s HowToCorp forum “Screw Stephen Ducharme Over”.

People were that mad at him for selling them a pack o’ lies.

Marketers who promoted his product had to do some serious back-pedaling to regain their subscribers’ trust.

However, breaking a trust is like breaking a porcelain container. You can glue it back together, but the cracks will always show and it may never again hold water.

Do you want to lose subscribers or your reputation as an honest broker?

I thought not.

To protect your reputation, and more importantly, do right by your customers, here are my top 6 criteria for choosing products to promote.

  1. Reputable Merchant. If Yanik Silver or Anik Singal tells me that they have a new product available, I know my customers will be properly treated and respected. These merchants have built their reputations based on quality products and excellent customer service, i.e. sound business principles.

Likewise, there are merchants within your niche with whom you have worked that can be trusted without question.

If you do not know a merchant, research their reputation online. Review and test their sites for attractiveness, usability and customer service responsiveness. If you have any doubts regarding their reputation, do not promote the product.

  2. Relevant High-Quality Product. Regardless of whether or not you know a merchant, review the product for quality and relevance. Will it benefit your subscribers in their work? Does it fulfill the promise made in the sales letter? Do all the features work?

If you are unable to review the product, tell your subscriber that is the case, and explain why you feel confident to recommend the product without review. Remind them that the product comes with a guarantee if they are not satisfied.

  3. Reasonable Price. I hate the price gouging that goes on the Internet as much as anyone. If there is an existing product of similar quality available at a lower price, I do not recommend that you promote the new product. In fact, you may want to take the opportunity to do a comparative review ending with a recommendation for the lower-priced product.

  4. Low-Hype Sales Tactics. Sales letters for good products do not scream ridiculous promises.

Regardless of merchant reputation or product quality, I recommend that you not promote products that make use of excessive hype or if the product name implies that users will achieve extraordinary results. There is a big difference between ‘How I Made X (Reasonable Sum) in One Year” and “Make X Million in X Minutes”.

Moreover, you do not want to make surfers more skeptical than they already are.

  5. Limit Choice to Prevent Confusion. There are a million “How to Build an Online Business” books, courses and tutorials available, yet I choose to promote only a few.

Each of those that I promote is markedly different from the others in both price and content. One might be available only online at a nice low price, while the other is a comprehensive physical product that includes manuals, DVD’s and CD recordings.

Do not promote a new product simply because it is new. Stick to the tried and true to build your reputation as a consistent and dependable marketer.

  6. High Commission. Finally, yet importantly, you need to determine whether the commission rate is acceptable.

Do not promote products for merchants who pay less than the going rate. For example, the standard commission rate for a conference seat is around 25%, while outstanding JV partners are offered between 33 and 50%. A merchant that pays 10% is just plain stingy. Do not reward greedy merchants. Work to become an outstanding JV partner for a merchant who respects your effort.

Use these strategies to guide your decisions every time you have the option to promote a new product. Your efforts will build and maintain your reputation as an ‘honest broker’ and frankly, nothing is more important to staying in business than your good reputation.

Affiliate Marketing Identity Theft

by Ian Williamson

Identity theft is a hot topic today and the Internet is no exception. Aside from banking online and ordering via credit cards online security concerns, have you considered that your online affiliate identity might also be at risk?

The numbers vary depending upon the source quoted, but conservative estimates indicate that 10% to 40% of affiliate sales are lost. Why? Internet pirates can, and often do, steal, bypass or otherwise mutilate your affiliate link, thereby robbing you of hard-earned sales.

Are you fed up with lazy and unscrupulous people who, instead of using their misplaced energy to create something special of their own, prefer to just suck the life out of someone else's endeavors? Are there ways to stop these pirates who can spoil your online marketing efforts?

Yes, there are. One solution is called "redirecting," which simply means that you set up a domain name that will forward to the specific link you want to go to, but will not show your entire affiliate ID. The redirect will show only your domain name. Not only is this a "prettier" picture than those long, cumbersome, ugly, and often distracting affiliate links, but it will give you more credibility, which in turn can build more trust in you and/or what you are offering. Some companies offer e-mail forwarding as well, so that your e-mail contact information can also reflect your domain name.

Should this cost a lot? No. You can find a company that costs you pennies a day for their services. Several features should be considered when choosing a domain forwarding or redirect company. Ideally, the company should:

Charge a one-time set up fee for your domain name;

Offer unlimited sub-domains, which allow you to manage multiple affiliate programs from one domain name;

Offer domains that can be bookmarked, which means that every time a customer goes back to the site, they see your domain name (and you get the commission);

Optimize search engine indexing, allowing you to change the title, mega description and keyword tags for your domain name, easily and in minutes. Normal affiliate links are almost never indexed, so choose a domain provider that is designed to be indexed by all major search engines.

Do not require that you pay a monthly hosting fee or require you to buy software, ever; and,

Do not require software or technical expertise in order to use. Choose one that is user-friendly to your level of technical or software knowledge.

Finally, choose a keyword-loaded domain name that is easy to remember looks attractive and represents you in a professional, yet personal manner that suits your personality and/or what you are promoting.

Domain forwarding will take you a long way towards building a credible, trustworthy business. Good domain forwarding companies who offer most, if not all, of the benefits listed here, are worth their weight in gold.

Top Ten Reasons to Become an Affiliate Marketer

by Matthew French

There are some really great benefits to promoting affiliate programs from your own computer at home, and I've come up with a list of 10 fantastic reasons to become an affiliate marketer.

Let’s get started:

1. No Employees – One of the best things about affiliate marketing is that it is a solo business. You don’t have to worry about hiring people and dealing with taxes of employing them. All you need to succeed is YOU and your COMPUTER.

2. No Fees for Joining or Licenses to Buy – The great thing about the internet is that you do not have to have a license to sell these products, and the majority of affiliate programs that you find will not charge you a fee to become an affiliate for them. Note: If they do charge a fee, I would be a little weary of them.

3. No Product Shipping – Shipping products to customers can be a pretty costly and hassling experience. Luckily for you, affiliates do not have to worry about all of this. The company you market for handles all of this.

4. No Customer Service Concerns – I personally hate having to deal with grouchy customers who have questions or complaints. Thankfully, affiliates do not have to deal with any of this. This is all left to the company.

5. Low Cost Set-up – Compared with having to buy or build an actual store, becoming an affiliate marketer takes very little money.

6. Choose From Thousands of Products and Services – So, What can you sell online? Just about anything. You can find everything on the internet, and there is a pretty good chance that you will be able to become an affiliate and promote it.

7. No Sales Experience Needed – When most affiliates start, they have little to no experience in marketing. They quickly learn the ropes to making ads or building web pages. Companies will often help their affiliates out by providing advertising material.

8. Minimal Risk – Is no one buying one of the products you are promoting? No problem, just drop it and move on. That’s the beauty of affiliate marketing; you are not tied to one single product or set of products. You choose what you do and do not promote.

9. Make Money While You Sleep – One of the best things about affiliate marketing is that you are constantly making money. I think that’s enough said.

10. High Income Potential – If you work for wages or a salary, you probably do not have much choice in how much you make every day. That is not so with affiliate marketing. The more work you put into it, the higher potential you have for making hundreds, sometimes even thousands of dollars a day.

That’s it kids – all the reasons you need to know for why you should become an affiliate marketer. Affiliate marketing is a highly lucrative career field, and all you have to do is get out there and start making the money.

Gain Success with Affiliate Marketing by Developing these Success Traits

by Terry Townsend

As in any new endeavor there are certain traits an individual must possess in order to become successful. The following traits are just a few of the many qualities that companies look for in the selection of their affiliates.

In the process of becoming a successful affiliate marketer you must be willing to learn and apply the training you receive by those that have preceded you in your endeavors. As a new affiliate marketer you may get the feeling of in-adequacy before you begin to become proficient at what you are trying to accomplish. Every little detail and lesson you are presented with may seem strange at first. However, if you will stay focused on the lesson’s being presented you will begin to understand and reach those goals you set out to accomplish? By remaining focused you will recognize and avoid many distraction’s that take you away from your goals at hand.

Be willing to invest your time and energy even if it means putting off that round of golf or fishing trip you were looking forward to. The old saying “What you put into an endeavor is what you will get out of that endeavor” has never been more applicable than in the affiliate marketing industry of today. Be willing to invest as much time and energy as possible into learning the ins and outs of affiliate marketing in the beginning and you will be able to enjoy the benefits of the education you receive.

Be determined to win no matter what. Determination has to be one of the major factors in accomplishing any goal or endeavor in life for all of us. Without determination we wouldn’t have successful people in this world such as Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and thousands of others not mentioned simply for lack of time and space. However, determination alone is not enough, you must teach yourself to work each day at learning and building your affiliate marketing business until you begin to see the fruits of your labor. Never cut yourself short. Always stay the course.

Show the discipline to keep on going when things don’t seem to be working out. There will be times throughout your affiliate marketing career when you will look at yourself and ask “Why am I doing this?” at that time you need to take a step back and review exactly what the reason was for your becoming involved in affiliate marketing. Was it for more time with your family? Was it to supplement your income so that you could buy that new car or take that special vacation that you have always wanted? Have the discipline to evaluate your reasons of why you got involved in this business and then rework your plan of accomplishing those goals you desire. Discipline is one of the most powerful traits you need to develop and nurture throughout your career.

Be optimistic regarding your results and know that your efforts will be rewarded. Optimism excretes desire to accomplish one’s goals in life. Those around you will be much more receptive to your proposal when they see your optimism about the products you choose to become involved with in your affiliate marketing endeavors.

Integrity is the final trait that we need to discuss regarding your ability to become a successful affiliate marketer. Always know without integrity in whatever business venture you decide to become involved in will be short-lived. Do your homework in your investigation of any affiliate marketing program you decide to become involved with and decide for yourself if it meets the qualities you expect for yourself before proposing it to someone else.

In conclusion, Affiliate Marketing can be a very exciting and prosperous adventure for yourself if you are willing to work and develop those traits that we have discussed. Keep in mind the following comment once made by Insurance Mogul, W. Clement Stone, “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe man can achieve”. Decide what you want to achieve, believe that you can and will achieve it, and plan the work to accomplish it and you will achieve success.

How To Succeed As An Affiliate or Reseller

by John Watson

Huge amounts of advice are available about how to succeed as an affiliate or reseller of other people's products. Occasionally it helps to focus on just a few ideas or steps that can be speedily implemented. I find the following ideas useful.

Choose a niche market which sells products that you are interested in. If possible, choose one that you are passionate about. I am passionate about the self-improvement niche.

You can't lose with this niche. Even if you were to sell nothing you would learn much from the products you were attempting to sell.

I have sold quite a few copies of a fairly well known self-improvement book. It was easy to write favorable comments in the sales page for this book because it is a book which has helped me to understand my past failures and to increase my confidence for the future.

I could and still can recommend it to others with a clear conscience because I believe it will help the buyer to improve their lives. If not, they can ask for a refund which will be granted without hesitation.

I can only remember having to refund one copy of the follow up to this book because the reader did not agree with something that was written in it.

There are parts of this author's books which I do not agree with but much of what he writes can change lives for the better. Why chuck out the good with the bad? However, the refund was immediately supplied by me even though I thought the reason given for the refund was a weak one.

Another niche I am passionate about is internet marketing. The more I learn about it and apply what I learn the more interesting it gets. The possibility of making money as well is just the icing on the cake.

If you sell products in this niche with integrity, you will sell products from developers who have a great reputation or products that you have tried out or read for yourself. You will, of course, learn much from testing the products and reading the ebooks before you decide they are good enough to sell.

This reminds me of a second great key to success in affiliate and resale marketing. Only promote or sell products that are of a high quality.

It takes time and effort to ensure that you do not sell trashy products but it will be worth it in the long run as those who buy from you or at your recommendation come to trust and value your advice about which products are worth spending their hard earned money on. .

A third key step is to ensure that you build a list of people who are interested in the niche you are promoting. I am currently building a list of people who are interested in self-improvement and motivation. I am also building a second list of people who are interested in marketing on the internet.

I am building a third list of people interested in self-defence and a fourth list of people interested in religious education. I may well start a fifth list of people interested in general fitness and health. As these lists grow in size, I will be able to recommend a product that I believe in to them.

Some will buy it and others won't. As Jim Rohn might say: "That is the way the world works!"

How do you build your list? One way is to write articles like this which have a resource box at the end which refers readers to an opt in page which asks for their name and email address in exchange for free ebooks or software.

They will then receive an email asking them to confirm their desire to optin. Most will usually confirm and you can then send them a regular ezine or an email when you feel you have something worth saying.

Alternatively, if you have nothing worth saying after a week or so, you can easily discover something worth saying by studying some of the great ebooks, audios and DVD's which are easily available on the net.

Clearly, you cannot just copy what you read about. You will need to filter the ideas through your own brain and your own experience. What you then write will be as original as most writings that are promoted as original.

To sum up the three key steps described above:

Choose a niche you are passionate about. It is much easier to sell something you know something about and are already interested in. Even if you sell nothing, you may well enjoy learning from the products you are attempting to sell.

Make sure that you sell only products that you believe in yourself. This will make writing any ads or sales pages that much easier and you will sound far more convincing than if you know little about the product in question.

Start at once to build opt in lists for all the niches you are interested in. Once you have big opt in lists, you will find it much easier to interest other people to work with you on joint ventures where both of you profit and both of you can increase your own lists with people who are from someone else's list.

Good luck with your marketing. Don't be put off by the fact that there is competition. Other people are selling some of the ebooks I sell but that does not stop people from buying from me. Competition does not necessarily hold you back. You can always add bonuses to a popular product to make your offer more attractive.

All of this gives your customers a sense of being there with you, in person, demonstrating the product. However, the best thing about this is that the video appears right on their computer monitor.

What is Camtasia and how does it work?

Three basic Steps

1. In one click you can record any activity happening on your desktop. It is easy and fast, eliminating the need to compile and save any files, because everything you do is recorded as you do it.

2. All videos can be converted into webpages. After conversion, your customers can view the video by offering them a link to click. What is great about videos is that they work better, give the customer a better understanding, when compared to reading the text.

3. Lastly, with Camtasia, you can upload your pages in a variety of methods such as podcasts, RSS feeds, or even blogs. This can allow you to submit your videos to a large audience, possibly reaching new customers at the same time. Having yourself visible to many people, in many different places is the perfect form of advertisement.

But that is not all you can do with Camtasia, in regards to your affiliate program.

For example, you could create high quality, attractive presentations with multimedia that engages all the senses, thus increasing sales. Furthermore, you have the ability to squelch any skepticism, because some customers are just down right hard to please.

Furthermore, because you can demonstrate exactly how your product is used and used properly, visually, you will have fewer occurrences of refunds on your product. At the same time, you will experience fewer complaints because everything your customer needs to know about the product is right there, in an easy to understand format that they can see and hear.

Visual presentations can help you promote your affiliate services and products. After they have watched the video presentation, they can be redirected to your affiliate web page. Do this by placing a link to your affiliate website, right at the end of the video, requesting them to visit to get further information.

You can also work to increase the bids on online auctions by giving the visitors a taste of what you are offering. You know pictures of the products help in sales, imagine how you can increase the chance of a sale by offering videos.

Bad communication and misunderstandings can be reduced or avoided with a video. This is because right from the start, you are showing them exactly how to use the product and what it can do for their lives. By giving them a precise and detailed video, you are effectively promoting your affiliate program, with little room for error.

Overall, Camtasia is the perfect promotion tool for any affiliate program and offers so many wonderful benefits. You should be using it right now.

How to Use Subdomains and URL Forwarding to Improve Your Web Presence

by Glenn Haertlein

Two of the biggest problems faced by online marketers are long, hard-to-remember web addresses, and lost referrals. This article will show you how to make your affiliate links shorter and easier to advertise, as well as how to protect your referrals.

The Problem with Long Web Addresses

People have enough information to keep track of. A long web address is the last thing anyone wants to add to their list of things to remember. If you have anything more difficult than something like, you can be sure to lose a large number of your customers, unless they can click on the link right away. Even so, if the link is hard to remember and your customers forget to bookmark your site, you can kiss return visits goodbye. If you’re putting a long or difficult web address on print ads, or on radio or TV, you can forget getting much of a return as well. And if you are adding ad tracking info on the end of your web address, good luck!

To be effective, a web address has to be brief and memorable.

Protecting Your Referrals

Consider this: You give a user your web address: The affiliate ID is there so you can get credit for the referral. It’s how you get paid. But for reasons that sometimes defy explanation, instead of putting in the whole address, Joe User lops off the ‘/affilateID’ part and just goes to

Unless the affiliate program you work with is really good about only accepting people with legitimate user ID referrals, you just lost a sale. Why? Because without the affiliate ID you won’t get credit for that referral. Even more insidious are ‘web marketers’ who look for affiliate links and user IDs and purposely substitute their own ID for yours, thus robbing you of even more income.

To protect yourself, you need to make your web address as bulletproof as possible.

The Simple Solution

So, how do you turn’t/forget/my/affiliateID into something more manageable, and protect your referrals? In a word – actually several – subdomains and URL forwarding. Good use of both can help greatly improve your online efforts.

“URL” stands for Uniform Resource Locator. It’s the address you type into your browser to surf the web. URL forwarding is the practice of using one web address to point to another. Typically, you use a less difficult address to point to a more complex one. For example, you would use to point to your longer, more complex affiliate link. The shorter address is easier to remember, and works well both on the web and in other media where you might choose to advertise.

A subdomain, as the name suggests, is a subdivision of a larger domain. Let’s say you have an ad tracking URL you want to use to test the effectiveness of a particular campaign. The system I use generates what are called ad tracking links. Many affiliate programs do this. But here’s the problem: On top of an already long name, they’ll tack on yet another item so your ads can be tracked. So, becomes

Who wants to type all that in?

With a subdomain you can still use the ad tracking link without burdening or confusing your potential customers with a long name. So, let’s say I wanted to do an ad campaign for I would go to my domain name provider and create a subdomain called, and I would use URL forwarding to have that subdomain ‘point’ to my more complicated ad tracking address. The one disadvantage is that the user might forget the dot between CheckOut and, but still it’s much easier to use than a LONG web address.

So, how do you get a domain name and subdomains? There are plenty of domain name providers out there. The one I use is They offer domain names for as low as $8.95, and the price includes subdomains and URL forwarding free of charge. If the affiliate program you use already offers you a pre-made website, then all you need is your domain name and you’re ready to go.

Here are the steps you need to follow:

Register your domain name and turn on URL forwarding according to the instructions of your provider.
Use your provider’s URL forwarding feature to point your new web address to your affiliate site.
If your provider offers stealth forwarding, DO NOT use it. This could cause your affiliate program not to see or recognize your affilliate ID. Besides, you just need the domain name as front-end promotion tool.
Create subdomains (optional) according to your provider’s instructions. Have the subdomains point to other opportunities, or to your ad tracking links.
That’s it! By having your own domain name you can create a web address that’s easy to remember, and that will protect your referrals. Plus, it gives you the added benefit of giving your business a professional look because you can direct people to a nice, neat web address instead of an unwieldy mile-long link.

Understanding The Affiliate Marketing Language

by Kurt Naulaerts

You are about to encounter a language that you have never heard before: the language of Internet Marketing, as it relates to Affiliate Marketing. It is important that you understand what it all means, to ensure that you are signing up for programs that are worth your time.

As you will learn, it is important to read the terms and conditions for affiliates. Sometimes, you will be presented with those terms before you sign up, and sometimes you will be presented with them after you sign up. But it is important that you read them, and it is important that you understand what is being said. It is also important that you understand what the following terms or abbreviations mean:

CPC: Cost per click. This relates to how much it costs for each click an ad or link receives when advertising on a CPC basis. In other words, instead of paying a flat rate for the advertisement, you would pay a certain amount of money for each click the ad receives.

PPC: Pay Per Click. This relates to CPC, where you pay for each click that your ad or link receives. Google AdWords is an example of Pay Per Click advertising.

CPA: Cost per action, or cost per acquisition. Basically, this means that you will pay each time an action is taken. The action may be a click, a sign up, or a sale. In fact, many affiliate programs also pay on a CPA basis, meaning that each time someone clicks on your link, or signs up to receive information through your link, you earn a little money. Google AdSense is an example of this.

CTR: Click Through Rate. This number is usually represented as a percentage, and it refers to the number of times your ad was clicked on, in relation to how often the ad was viewed.

CPM: Cost per thousand. The amount of money you pay for every one thousand ad impressions.

URL: Uniform Relay Link, otherwise known as a link, or a website address.

Affiliate Link: A URL or link that is assigned to you by the affiliate program. This is the link that you will promote, as it is used to track your clicks and sales.

Contextual Link or Text Link: A contextual link is a link that looks like content, because it is all text. It may be several words long.

Charge Back: This will be an important term to you. This refers to when customers cancel their orders, or have their credit card companies reverse the charges. It basically means that you lose a sale. Some affiliate programs will hold money back each pay period to cover potential charge backs/refunds, and release that money to you after a specified period.

SPAM: Unsolicited Commercial Email. This term also refers to commercial posts on forums and blogs. Most affiliate programs will have strict anti-spam regulations that you must follow.

Revenue Sharing Program: This is the same thing as an affiliate program.

Co-Branding: Some affiliate programs offer co-branding options, where your company name or logo is placed on a reseller's website, or on the product itself.

Referral Link: The same as an affiliate link.

Tracking: The method or software used to record sales, clicks, leads, and other information that has to do with your affiliate link.

HTML or HTML Code: HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. This is the programming language used to build webpages. HTML code generally refers to a small portion of HTML code, such as that needed to place affiliate links or banners on your webpages.

Partner Program: This is the same thing as an affiliate program.

If you come across other terms or abbreviations that you aren't sure of the meaning of, make sure that you stop and go find out what it means before agreeing to anything or before doing anything. Not knowing can cause problems later on in your affiliate marketer career.
