Why Pay Affiliates To Send You Customers When YOU Can Drive Them To Your Website For Free

There are many different methods that people use to market their products and services. One conventional method is to get affiliates that send traffic to your web site.

Places like Clickbank and Amazon associates are based on this principle and a huge focus of many people selling products is to liaise with affiliates and pay them a commission based on the sales that they have been able to make.

While there is nothing inherently wrong with using affiliates to get your product out to people there is also a better way of doing things. Remember that when you pay an affiliate a commission you are effectively paying them to do the work for you. So really, why pay affiliates to send you customers when you can drive them to your website yourself… for free?

How are you going to do this? It is going to be done through the noble art of search engine optimization. We can call it an art because that is truly what it is. Unless you really know what you are doing and have a lot of experience with optimizing websites for search engines it can be very difficult to get yourself off on the right track.

In this sense it can really be an art and in order to get this art down you need to understand the different factors of search engine optimization; on page factors and off page factors.

On page factors relate to the keywords you are using. These keywords must be peppered throughout the page in a proper density. If you can combine this with proper off page techniques such as link building then you will definitely be able to make a splash in the search engines with your website.

Once you have made this splash in the search engines you will be well on your way towards getting the vast majority of your visitors to your website for free rather than having to pay for them.

Affiliate Marketing Is A Business

All too often affiliate marketing isn’t taken serious, there fore its not treated as a real business. I am here to tell you that affiliate marketing is as real as it gets. You can make as muck if not more than any other business that retails but the nice thing about affiliate marketing is you don’t have to deal with inventory, shipping or returns.

There are a couple things that you want to be aware of before starting your affiliate marketing career.

You wouldn’t start a business in the real world with out first doing some research so why would you even attempt affiliate marketing without doing your research? You want to take the time to learn everything you can about the business. You want to see how successful the business is, how it treats its customers, how it’s willing to help you as an affiliate and how much money your going to make. Dedication is the key factor to any business and this is no different. By now you should have a good idea about what you want to sell from your site. You have to determine if you’re good enough to write enough articles for 15 products or maybe you just want to focus on 2 or 3. Either way you have to give your program a chance because the money isn’t going to start rolling in over night.

It’s important to learn the basics of web design. You don’t by any means need to be an expert web designer or content writer to make money off your site but the more you do know will be better for your bank account in the long run. There are many low cost companies out there who will help you design and build content for your website. What’s inside your site needs to be informative, fun and interesting and it needs to sell your products all at the same time. Plain and simple if a surfer finds your site and he doesn’t get excited by it then he’s going to be for ever gone.

It’s all too tempting to just throw up a quick, plain, boring website with little or no content so you can start making money right away. Well I’m here to tell you that if you make any money from this it won’t be much. You are better off to take your time and do things properly and in the long run you will make much more money.

All in all affiliate marketing is probably one of the best businesses you can get into. Thousands of men and women do this full time and make a rather nice income. However there is no auto pilot. If your not willing to learn and do the work then you best just start looking for some thing else.

Affiliate Marketing - 5 Affiliate Marketing Tips for Faster Profits

Let's look at five affiliate marketing tips you can use to start generating affiliate sales. Keep in mind, if you are motivated to eventually create your own products, you can market them in the same way!

1) Answer questions in forums

While this can be a slow and time consuming process, it's a great way to get started making money online as an affiliate marketer. Locate forums related to the product you are marketing. In most forums you can create a signature and in that signature have a link to a web site, which in this case would be your affiliate link.

If you are helpful in answering questions from other forum members and don't make useless posts that do nothing but market your product, you will get people that click your affiliate link.

2) Advertise With Google Adwords

Advertising with Google Adwords can have traffic to your site within 15 minutes of getting set up. Adwords ads are a great way to generate traffic but there is a lot of competition and a lot of things you need to learn if you want to make a profit, instead of losing your shirt. If you want to learn the Adwords game, you really need to spend some money on quality information about making money with google adwords.

3) Writing and Submitting Free Articles

This is another technique that can take some time but it's free and it does work. Write helpful articles that are related to your product and submit those articles, along with your resource box, to article sites like Keep in mind that does not allow you to include an affilate link in your resource box so you'll need your own web site, where you can tell people more about the product and send them to your affiliate link from there.

4) Create A Free Report

A great way to make affiliate sales is to create a free pdf report related to the product you are using in your affiliate marketing efforts. Write a short but informative report on your topic and include affiliate links in the report that direct people to the product you are promoting.

5) Ezine Advertising

Look for ezines that are related to your topic and submit classified ads to these ezines that promote your affiliate link. There are many ezines that allow free classified ads and others that you have to pay for. The price for a classified ad varies wildly from ezine to ezine and is dependent on certain factors like the number of subscribers the ezine has.

One great technique is to combine ezine advertising with giving away a free report. Again, you'll need web hosting for this one. Set up a web page where people can download the report and put that link in your ezine classified ad. You can also make the page a squeeze page by using an autoresponder so people have to optin to get the free report. This way, you also build a list of interested prospects that you can market other related products to.

If you want to get started in affiliate marketing, these are five tips you can implement right now to start making money online.

Three Most Important Tools to Become a Super Affiliate

by Zackery Lim

Three Most Important Foundation to Become a Top Affiliate!

I'm sure you've heard of Ewen Chia, one of the world's top affiliate marketer. How does he do it? What does it take? What do you need to be the next Ewen Chia? Every day, budding and veteran affiliate marketers ask themsevles these same questions, I'm sure you do too. I know I have.

Many people say affiliate marketing is one of the easiest way to make money online and the best part is, you don't even need to have your own product or website.

But there's more to it than just that.

You cannot be a super affiliate overnight, it won't happen. Every successful affiliate marketer follows an action plan, with each decision executed meticulously and at the right moment. In addition, there are three basic but very important tools an affiliate marketer must possess.

The First Important Foundation - Unique Presence

That's just a fancy way of saying you need to have your very own website, thereby creating an online presence. Your website must provide relevant information visitors are looking for. After all, content is king right? Right! But equally as important, is how you present the content. Is it done poorly just by putting up text after text at the expense of the visitors' experience? I always put up relevant images when possible and try to hire a good designer to create a professional looking site.

Your website must look and feel credible. You must convince the visitors that you are an authority on the subject and whatever products you recommend are going to benefit them.

The Second Important Foundation - Opt-In List

The Internet is not what like it was a couple of years ago. In that short time, the web has exploded exponentially. It is now flooded with marketers left and right. Almost everywhere you turn, you'd meet one.

With such intense competition, what makes your visitors keep coming back? You must be able to entice your visitors to keep coming back to your site and of course click on your affiliate links. So rather than relying on one-time

Visitors to keep coming back, use an opt-in form to capture their contact emails. However no one will simply offer their emails like that, you need to give them something in exchange, like a gift. Tell them they can receive a special gift by filling in their name and email address.

Once they opt-in, send them to the download page for the gift. Alternatively, you can direct them to the merchant you are promoting and send them the gift in one of your follow up messages later.

Now that you have a list of opt-in subscribers, you can send them any messages any time you want, including special offers or other products you are promoting in your niche.

The Third Important Foundation - Targeted Traffic

At the end of the day, what is the most important to your success is targeted traffic. Learning how to attract interested people to visit your site is an on-going process and nothing beats free and targeted traffic.

This is where Search Engine Optimization (SEO) comes in. A high ranking on the first or second page of the search engines will give you an endless flow of free targeted traffic. But it's easier said than done.

The key to ranking high for a particular keyword in your niche relies on link popularity. Who and how many are linking to you. If many highly ranked sites are linking to you. This is important because you need both quantity and quality. And one-way links are the most prized.

But which high ranking sites will link to a new site like yours? Don't panic, you can always start off with a reciprocal linking exercise. First link to others, then ask if they will link back to you. If not just remove their link from your website, if yes then you are on your way to getting ranked. Of course reciprocal linking is a whole area of study in itself which I will not deal with here.

One way of getting one-way links is to submit articles to various directories. This is one of most popular method used by marketers. You one way links back to your site and you get exposure to targeted traffic.

I'll stop here for now, remember, the Internet is an ever changing landscape and who is to say you won't chance upon some revolutionary marketing method not done before?

Affiliates, Are You Making These Big Mistakes?

by Andrew Gowans

The following article is one of a series of articles which focus on Affiliate, Article and Internet Marketing. All of the articles are based on real experiences and research done over twenty years as a personal and business coach. They are also written in response to questions which I have been asked as well as address common challenges that people have with affiliate marketing, article marketing, internet marketing or running an online business in general. I sincerely hope that you find the following information of value. One idea, one tip, one clue can make all the difference.

Affiliates, Are You Making These Big Mistakes?

As with most things in life, the majority of mistakes we make are from inexperience. Affiliate marketing is no exception. I know, I have been there. I have thought that I could make as much money as I could as quickly as I could with the least amount of effort.

I have ended up being disillusioned, frustrated, even angry that I have not made serious money within a few days.

For those that are new to affiliate marketing, the whole internet thing can seem too good to be true. Running a real business from home that makes you more then enough money to live on.

It is true. It is possible. However, when you read about some of the top internet and affiliate marketers making thousands overnight, there is one very important thing that you need to bear in mind. These guys have served their time. It takes three common but necessary attributes to succeed in affiliate marketing. It takes hard work, dedication and the ability to focus, focus on what's important.

So, what are the big mistakes we should avoid when building an affiliate marketing business?

Well, the first answer is in the question. We need to focus on building a business, not trying to make a quick buck.

Making mistakes when you start a new business are quite common. It's happens to all of us, so don't get bent out of shape when it does. Even when the business is established, more mistakes will be made. What separates the successful from the also rans is how we deal with the mistakes. With patience and due diligence, many of the mistakes that are made can be avoided quite easily.

What is it then that makes some affiliate marketing businesses work and makes many affiliate marketing businesses fail?

Patience is vital. Building on the point I made earlier, the best affiliate marketers have taken time to build their customer base. The people that are truly making $10,000 a month and more in affiliate marketing spent years getting there, not weeks or months, years.

You need to stick at it. In the past, I have dropped affiliate programs because they were not making me money quickly. It wasn't their fault, it was mine. That doesn't mean that we should stick with an affiliate program for ever. We need to track performance over time, make sure we do enough research before selecting the affiliate program we wish to promote and give it a fair go.

You need to make sure that you effectively pre-sell the product, detail the benefits (not the features) and show how this product solves your visitors' problem. Also, change your website content on a regular basis, update your site at least weekly.

Decide what's right for you. I know it can be tempting to go for the 'big commissions', 60%, 70% and in some cases now even 100%. Try and make your life as easy as possible. To pre-sell effectively, you need to, at the very least, understand the affiliate program you are thinking about promoting.

Practical examples - if you know a lot about fitness or weight loss there are a number of programs you can subscribe to and you will have the expertise to pre-sell most effectively. On the other hand, if you have no knowledge at all of mechanics, it could be extremely difficult to sound convincing and credible to your visitors just because you want to promote a racing car program offering 80% commission. You get the drift.

O.K. lower commissions mean lower earnings. Believe me, however, in the long run once your credibility and expertise is known, you will look forward to repeat business and will be more profitable over time.

Another huge mistake that many affiliate marketers make is trying to promote too many programs at once. By doing this, it makes it very hard to provide solid pre-selling content relating to all of these programs at once. The net result is that site visitors end up being totally confused as to what it is your site is really about and what preferred action you wish them to take. Your visitors end up leaving your site without buying.

You should only subscribe to two or three programs at once.

This will allow you to focus on these programs so you can start earning affiliate revenue sooner rather than later. Patience is, again, very important. Either through inexperience or fear of not making any money, it may seem that the best thing to do is load your web pages with a score of affiliate programs. Don't. If your website is focused on providing related but limited solutions to help your visitors deal with the problem that attracted them to your site initially, You will stand a far better chance of making sales.

Be aware of the competition in your chosen area of expertise. Even if you are focusing on tight niche, it is likely that you will have competitors who are also promoting the same or similar affiliate programs. Also, be aware that visitors will visit a number of sites that may come up after a search for their chosen keywords.

Your job is to be as unique as possible. Don't use the same copy as everyone else because it was supplied by the merchant of the affiliate program. Write your own content, add value, build credibility and trust. Over time, visitors will know who to go to, who provides added value and who they will buy from. Make it you.

Building your targeted list is an absolute must.

Think about it. You have a great site, you get tons of visitors, you do a fantastic job of pre-selling, your visitors take your call to action and then what? You send them off to the merchant's site who sells the product.

Great, you get the commission ONCE. The merchant captures the buyers' details and you don't! Massive mistake. You have got to try and capture your visitors' details by inviting them to sign up for your newsletter, course, free giveaways for example. Once you have captured their details because they opted to do so, you now have the opportunity to contact them regularly without spamming. But...

You want to keep them subscribed. So, again, make sure you are adding value, providing solid information, keeping your subscribers well informed as well as recommending your products (as long as they are totally related). Make the effort, differentiate yourself from the others, and you will get the rewards you deserve.

5 Free Tools To Ensure Your Affiliate Partner's Success

by Melvin Vu

Time and time again, it has been said that affiliate marketing is, without a doubt, the quickest and most efficient way of earning a living online. There are a variety of reasons for this. For starters, most affiliate programs do not require any enrollment fees. There is no financial investment on the part of the affiliate. Secondly, the affiliate is only tasked with pre-selling the affiliate merchant's products. The sales page, the payment processing, the digital delivery, and the post sales services shall be borne by the affiliate merchant.

These shouldn't mean that the affiliate should want in commitment, however. As a matter of fact, an affiliate's success wholly depends on how much commitment he could give the program, and how much effort he could invest to pursue such commitment.

Sometimes, this requires some monetary expenses. Getting a web host, for example, as well as a domain name, would necessitate some cash to be laid out. Getting professionally made graphics to make his website attractive can also cost some dough, in the event that the affiliate cannot do this for himself. PPC advertising can equally be just as costly, if not even more, if the affiliate would ever decide to utilize this option.

But not everything needs to come at a price. There are vital tools that would help ensure the affiliate's success, and they can be availed of for free.

Here are the top five tools under this category. Knowing them would give you the edge you need. Using them would give you the head start that would push your online enterprise to the next level.

The higher your page rank is, the better chances it will have of appearing in the first few pages of search engine results. Don't know where to start? Use the free tool available at to discover all the places where you could leave some links to your website.

4) Keyword Selector Tool

Keywords are the primary ingredients of any search engine optimization (SEO) campaign. You will use them for your meta tags, your h1 tags, your ALT tags, your page title, and your content. You will even use them for the articles you will submit to the many article directories in the World Wide Web. The proper use of keywords would result in the more efficient documentation of your website so that the search engine spiders will have an easier time finding your web pages for any relevant query. And since 80% of the traffic that you will be able to generate for your website would come from the search engines, keywords become the most essential aspects of your site building efforts. Need to find the right keywords? Go to and use their powerful tool to determine the profitability of the keywords related to the affiliate products you will be promoting.

5 Reasons Most Affiliate Programs Are Number 1 Enemy of Affiliate Marketers

The upsurge growth of the Internet, especially Internet marketing is more of a blessing than a curse. And one of the most versatile and a money-spinning department within the Internet marketing industry is the affiliate internet marketing.

According to the highly respected Forrester Research, online affiliate marketing is expected to reach the all-time high of $230! This mammoth figure aptly describes one positive trend: that the entire affiliate marketing online is daily bulging at an alarming rate!

And if you remember the fact that affiliate merchants and affiliate marketers are the two credible forces driving these monumental figures, then you’ll agree with me you should not fold your arms while the industry go burst with irregularities.

What are the problems and irregularities? Truthfully, several problems presently becloud this growing industry. But the one I want to tackle in this article concerns the activities of online affiliate merchants.

If you’ve been promoting affiliate products for at least 6 months, you would have discovered that many merchants are not worth the name “affiliate program online”, they normally tag on their foreheads!

Now let’s discuss 5 of these problems below…

Affiliate Merchant Problem #1:

Most lack passionate mentors and marketing resources

The popular saying that says, ‘it takes two to tango’ hold true for any industry that desire to reach highest level possible. Unfortunately, for most merchants, the opposite is the case. They do not see the affiliate marketers as partners.

Instead, they only order and install affiliate tracking software and advertise for affiliates to join their ‘great paying programs.’ Once this is done, they start waiting for the affiliate marketers (or their presumed marketing slaves) to sell whatever they have on offer. These are the set of online merchants parading more number of affiliate marketers, who are also inactive, confused, miserable and poor.

On the contrary, a merchant that regards its affiliates as true partners will make sure it provides a dynamic and robust resource and human support for them to succeed. A system I called ‘affiliate + merchant cross pollination’ will occur. This implies a platform where both merchants and affiliate marketers freely share ideas, offer open criticisms and improve every promotion for the benefit of both parties!

The ‘affiliate + merchant cross pollination’ is therefore a deliberate attempt by the merchant to encourage its affiliates. It will also create a more conducive atmosphere for new ideas generation in addition to array of proven marketing resources available to the affiliate marketers.

Affiliate Merchant Problem #2:

Deliberately cheating affiliates

I know that there are scammers and thieves in most industries. But the ongoing scams emanating from the online affiliate marketing industry is worrisome. Visit any webmaster forum to get acquainted to complaint from affiliate marketers. You will be greeted with reports of obscene experiences they are going (or gone) through in the hands of merchants.

For example, there are verified incidences where merchants deliberately withheld commissions belonging to their affiliates without just cause. And there are times when some merchants simply went overboard and slashed commissions by whatever percentage.

We have some merchants who start by paying commission promptly in order to inscribe ‘good names’ in the mind of affiliate marketers. But once they gather some momentum, the merchants will stop payment without credible reasons.

There are also merchants that will do everything in the book to stimulate their affiliates to promote their products. However, just when the affiliate marketer except to be paid his commission or agreed fees, the merchant will simply fold-up operation and bolt away with thousands or millions of dollars worth commission!

What about the merchants who changed their company names and products line entirely? This is done in order to avoid being traced after swallowing affiliate marketer commission.

Affiliate Merchant Problem #3:

Lies and half truth

The internet marketing world is replete with affiliate merchants who claim to operate certain commission types, but will later renege to abide with it. For example, some merchants boldly promise a 2nd tier commission payout, but refuse to pay the affiliate marketer for his underlines as enshrined in 2nd tier commission policy.

I know you will call this trend ugly, but it seems most of these situations cannot be effectively tacked because the informal nature of the internet seems to provide protection for this sort of illegalities.

Affiliate Merchant Problem #4:

Rigid mentality – products that pay little commission

Gone are the days when you should glue yourself promoting products that pay you mere $20, $30 when you can earn $100, $150, $175, $200 and more for the same efforts!

From my experience, some of the worst merchants are those paying peanuts to hard working affiliates like you. Just open your eyes and you will discover how you’d been cheated for so long.

Affiliate Merchant Problem #5:

Poor converting website and product in competitive market

Individually, the two problems are dangerous enough. But will give birth to a hydra-headed monster to act against the affiliate marketer desire to make lots of money online. This twin problem, unknown to most affiliates, is secretly killing off the good efforts of most affiliate marketers!

Do you think if you drive the most targeted traffic form the search engines to a poorly converting website will give you the kind of results that will change your financial fortunes?

The answer is an emphatic NO!

Now let me paint a picture in your mind: Let’s say you join an affiliate program, and promote with PPC and SEO marketing. Your well-targeted traffic was later sent to your professionally-designed website oozing out with top-quality pre-sell contents.

Your visitors were pleased with the quality education they received from your own website. They love and trust your judgment and with open heart – clicked to the merchants’ website.

But what happened when they got there? They were confronted with poor contents that did little or nothing to convert them. So the readers you’d so labored to get eventually ended largely disappointed!

So they simply closed the site and went elsewhere. Now, who do you think will lose? Is it the visitors, merchants or you? You - the affiliate marketer loses. You will end up bearing the brunt of low converting website. You will lose your time, money and hope of making money get dashed.

Can you now imagine when a poor website is employed to sell products in high-competitive markets? Your efforts will simply end up in the bottom-less pit! This is a major reason many affiliates are forever roving round the Internet, searching for top affiliate program they can find.

This is the more reason I canvassed that affiliate marketers should diligently choose few merchants – 3-5 at most! Go for the merchants parading top-on-the-range resources, training modules, courses, mentors and high-paying commissions.

So let me ask you this salient question: “Will you make this decision now or not? It is left to you to decide or continue the old way. But remember that as an affiliate marketer, you have a BIG role to play in eliminating or at least reduce the encroachment of ‘bad named’ affiliate programs in our beloved industry.

Make up your mind to pitch tent with merchants who are operating the best affiliate marketing program online with top quality resources and affiliate marketing guide that will help move forward fast.

And for the best solution, you should join a training program that show every level of affiliate marketers the online merchants promoting top affiliate program that pays huge commission and array of dynamic money making resources.

Affiliate Marketing Is Word Of Mouth Advertising

In the internet world today there is quite a buzz on affiliate marketing and programs. There are several sites you can join and who manage your commissions. After your approval you have access to many different businesses that offer commission based links to their sales pages or websites. Other businesses may have developed one of their own programs to attract not only purchasers but promoters. You have to admit that word of mouth advertising is one of if not the most effective form of advertising available.

For instance, when you go to a movie or restaurant and found that you liked it a lot, you recommend it. If you have read a book or heard a new song and liked it, you tell someone else about it. If you did any of the above things and were not happy with your experience then you would tell everyone. Multi level marketing has used this concept for years and it has been quite successful in most cases. Is it true that if someone told you of a great restaurant, you would be more likely to try it out for yourself? I certainly do, after all my friends or business associates would not steer me wrong intentionally.

There are two ways to utilize the advantages of affiliate based marketing. One way is to use those with a pay per sale commission set up or the second way are those that provide a residual commission payment. Residual is a recurring payment for something like a subscription that is renewed monthly or quarterly. With each renewed payment of the customer a commission payment is sent to you. There are also two tiered programs available which enables you to make a commission from the people who become affiliates as well. Some of the programs hold your money until a certain amount is reached and then send you a check. Others send checks on a regular basis regardless of the amount. Be careful to read the terms, commission structures and payment occurrences before you put your email on the dotted line. How to Build a Successful Business Affiliate Program for Beginners

by Mario Churchill

If you’ve just started your online business and you’re getting increasingly alarmed about the amount of money you’re spending on advertising – which unfortunately seems to get you nowhere close to even the first ten pages of search engine results for the primary keywords used in your website – don’t you know that there’s a cost-efficient way of gaining advertising and building traffic for your site which has a very high success rate?

The answer: building a business affiliate program.

A business affiliate program is a marketing strategy that allows you to hire as many affiliates interested in joining your program in a commission basis. Think of it as having a company that employs sales agents and paying them only when they sell something.

Benefits of a Business Affiliate Program

A LARGE ACTIVE WORKFORCE – You may be a small-sized business but designing the right business affiliate program technically allows you to have as large a workforce as possible and the best thing about it is that probably each and every one of them is actively working in marketing your products and services.

EARN FIRST, PAY AFTER – A business affiliate program doesn’t require you to give your affiliates base pay every month. Yes, of course, you’re grateful that they’re working so hard but you’re nonetheless under no obligation to pay them for their effort. This is standard for all business affiliate programs: payment is only made when there’s a corresponding action.

INFINITE POTENTIAL FOR GROWTH – There is no limit to what a business affiliate program could do for your company. It can grow beyond your wildest expectations as long as you continue to deal professionally with your affiliates. Be aware however the growth potential of your business affiliate program is also directly proportional to product or service development. But more about that later on.

CONTINUOUS TRAFFIC – The very first thing that having a business affiliate program can contribute to you is traffic. Every time a person clicks on your link in an affiliate website, he or she is immediately directed to your website. Visitors may not buy anything from you in the end but at least you’ve achieved one important objective and that’s to make them aware your business exists! Some companies wouldn’t ask even any more than that!

How to Make a Business Affiliate Program that Works

GREAT PRODUCTS AND SERVICES ARE THE LIFELINE OF A BUSINESS AFFILIATE PROGRAM – Without unique, attractive, beneficial, and useful products and services, there’s simply no way for your business affiliate program to succeed. You have to start by giving your affiliates something incredible to sell.

A GROWING COMPANY – A business affiliate program can only enjoy long-term success if you can match this with long-term plans as well. Your products and services must evolve in response to the changing needs of your market. If you’re satisfied with a constant rate of success that shows no signs of increasing, don’t expect your affiliates to feel the same. All affiliates expect and demand for growth, and if they can’t see you offering that to them then they’ll simply switch to another program.

THE RIGHT OBJECTIVE – What do you want your business affiliate program to achieve for you? If it’s only attention and interest that you need then you should use a pay-per-lead program. If it’s higher sales you’re after then you should use a pay-per-sale program. It’s that simple.

PROVIDE SUPPORT – A good business affiliate program succeeds because of the cooperation between the affiliate merchant – that’s you – and its affiliate websites. They help each other obtain mutual success. As the owner of the affiliate program, it’s your job to provide as much training – preferably free – and support to your affiliates. There’s nothing to lose as well if you invest a few minutes of your time once in a while to check on your affiliates’ progress and send them motivational and encouraging emails.

PROFESSIONAL – Last but not the least, a good business affiliate program is professional. This can largely be seen on how it deals with its affiliates. It offers contracts that do not violate any laws and protect their mutual interests. A good business affiliate program offers fair and competitive pay to its affiliates. It utilizes a reliable and efficient tracking system to provide sales reports for its affiliates.

And there you have it, the benefits of a good business affiliate program and how to make one. Good luck!

3 Mistakes to Avoid in Affiliate Marketing

Everyone makes mistakes at one point or another. But if you're in affiliate marketing, these mistakes can be expensive. These are three frequent mistakes that aspiring affiliate marketers make, so learning of these mistakes before your competitors do is to your own advantage.

Mistake #1: Hoping To Get Rich Quick

We see these kinds of advertisements all the time, and most people will ignore them. However, someone is always dumb enough to fall for it. This is one of the most common mistakes that aspiring affiliate marketers tend to make. By the time they realize that they they don't make as money as fast as they were promised, it is too late. Their money and time is gone, and they just might quit this business because they didn't make a lot of money quickly like they were promised.

Affiliate marketing is often portrayed as something that doesn't take much work and promises a lot of money. After all you always see atypical testimonials about how this affiliate program changed their lives in so little time.

It gives the illusion that all you have to do is join affiliate programs, set up your advertisements and start watching the profits roll in. Not going to happen without a lot of work and dedication on your part.

Mistake #2: Joining Every Affiliate Program You Find

Some novices think that the more programs they join the more commissions they will earn and thus the more profits. However, what usually ends up happening is they get bogged down with all the programs and promotion, and can't work well. Eventually the stress of managing too many programs gets the better of them, and their efforts were all a waste.

Beginner affiliate marketers need to focus on one product or service first before they go on joining more and more programs. Like any other business, affiliate marketing is a constant journey that requires research, learning and experience about what you're marketing and who you're marketing to.

It's good practice to know more about the product or service being promoted so you can make your marketing efforts more personal. You can buy the same product so you can give honest, personal testimonials for your marketing. Learning the best way to promote what you're advertising is another important part. Does your strategy work, or do you need to try something new? You're always asking yourself these questions in this business.

Mistake #3: Thinking it is Extremely Easy and Requires Little to No Extra Effort

Of course the "gurus" and other super affiliates make affiliate marketing look easy. But anyone good at anything can make anything look easy. When the "gurus" started out, they had to go through the troubles of making mistakes, trial and error, and learning before they got to where they are now. The only way they made it to the top is by continuously learning, practicing, and doing things to better their affiliate marketing. The only way it can be easy for you is if you keep learning and researching the strategies and tricks of affiliate marketing, but most of your knowledge will come from personal experience. You learn the most from doing.

Everyone in affiliate marketing does something wrong at one point. But the best and most successful affiliate marketers are the ones that can learn from their mistakes and move forward without any hesitation.

Affiliate Marketing - Sell What the Public Wants

by Charles Essmeier

Affiliate marketing has changed the face of retail in the past few years. As a way to increase sales, companies that offer retail products have begun to enlist help in the form of affiliates – people who help sell the product for them in exchange for a portion of the sales price. The affiliates don’t actually sell the product; they merely advertise it or create Web pages that review or promote the product. Their ads or Websites will have special links that point to the retailer’s site, and if the customer buys, both the affiliate and the retailer make money.

It’s a great system for both seller and affiliate; the seller only pays if the affiliate delivers and the affiliate never has to carry inventory. The market can be brutally competitive, however, as there are hundreds of thousands of people on the Internet who are trying to make money in this way. Each individual who is involved in affiliate marketing is trying to find some sort of “edge” that will separate them from their competition.

Affiliate products can be software or electronic books, but they can also be physical goods, such as computers or other electronic items. One way to for an affiliate to simplify the process and make it easier to make sales it to limit the products that he or she promotes to those that are already widely known. While it may be possible to make money selling a terrific new product that no one has ever heard of, it is generally much easier to promote a product that the public is already aware of and already seeking.

There are many companies that will pay you to promote products that are already popular – MP3 players, laptop computers, or popular pieces of commercial software come to mind. There are many large online retailers that have affiliate programs, so it isn’t all that difficult to promote these types of products. Since the public is already interested in name brand laptop computers, for instance, they will be engaged in regular searches for them on the Web. All you need to do is to promote the product in such a way that they can find your ad or Website. This is much easier to do than to “create” a market for a new, unknown product.

It can be difficult enough trying to make money on the Internet without making it harder by promoting a product that no one has ever heard of. Make it easier on yourself by starting small and advertising things the public already knows that they want.
