Keys To Finding The Right Affiliate Products

Ok, so you decided to become an affiliate marketer. Great choice. Now the first thing you need to do before anything else is find the right products to promote. There are thousands of products out there but you need to choose the right ones in order to make money. After all, that is why you became an affiliate marketer right? In this article I will go over a few of the main things to look for in the products and programs you want to promote.

The first area to look into is finding the right program. What you want to look for is an affiliate program that has a large variety of programs to choose from. In order to market to a particular niche you need to have a variety of products to offer them. On the same note the program you choose should be adding new quality products to their programs regularly.

The second area of concern is the payment structure some of the better affiliate programs offer 2 tier commission payouts. This works great because you get paid for selling the product and you get paid when one of the affiliates under you sell the products. So it would be a pretty good idea to build a list of affiliates while promoting the product.

The third key to finding the right program is finding one with a good commission base. There are many affiliate programs that will pay you around 10% to 25%. And the product you would have to promote would not be of good quality, and with that comes a higher that normal refund rate. You want to target the ones that will pay a 50% or above commission rate. You can promote some of the lower commission products, but those are usually high priced products. Either way you will have to do your homework to find the right commission base.

Next comes the fun part, looking for a program that has a good support system. You want to find a program that has a good record of support for their affiliates. Some good qualities to look for are tools to help you promote the products. Things like banners, affiliate links, e-mail scripts, and sales history on the product. You need to know if it will be worth your wile to promote their product. And you need to be able to reach them through their support line or e-mail.

Finally, and this is probably one of the most important keys of all. You need to find the right market for the product. You will get all the information on the product, and the promotional tools and support, but you, and you alone are responsible for finding the right market for your product. There are many ways to do this, but one of the most successful ways is to write articles, or reviews about about the product or service. If you know what your market will be than it makes a bit easier to find the right product.

Well, there you go. As you can see there really isn't that much involved with finding the right program and products. All it takes is doing your home work. And knowing where to look for the good programs. If you follow the steps that were outlined in this article, you will have a better chance at succeeding in affiliate marketing.

Survival Guide To Online Affiliate Marketing

It never ends. Affiliate marketers are always looking for successful marketing that generates good income. Thinking there is a magic formula for success is the wrong state of mind. It is a little more complex than that. To succeed it takes good marketing practices that have been proven over years of hard work and dedication. There are strategies that work with online marketing and continue to work today. With the following survival guide of the top three marketing tips, you will be able to increase your sales and flourish as an affiliate marketer.

Follow these three tips to success:
1. Use unique web pages to promote separate products you are marketing. Do not lump all of them together to save money on web hosting. It is best to have a site focusing on each product or service you are offering.

Include product reviews on your website so visitors will have an understanding of what the product can do for them. Also testimonials are useful from customers that use the product. However be sure that your customers are willing to allow their names and photos on the site of the product you are marketing.

You can also write articles about your product and include them on your website as an additional page. Make the pages attractive and include a call to action in the information. Each headline should attract the readers to read more and encourage them contact you. Highlight the selling points. This will help your readers learn what your site is about and will have them wanting to learn more about your product and/or service.

2. Offer free reports to your visitors. Positioning your opt-in box at the top left corner of your site is the best place for your potential customers to see it. Create auto-responder messages that will be mailed to those who input their information in your sign up box. It is very important you only ask for a first name and an e-mail address. Research shows a sale is typically closed on the seventh contact with a prospect.

There are two possibilities when a visitor hits your website: You either close a sale or the prospect will leave your site never to return. By placing useful information in their in-boxes at strategic intervals you will be reminding them of the product they are interested in. Make sure your content is directed toward specific reasons to buy the product. Do not "sale" them the product. Just give them useful information about the product and what the advantages are by purchasing it. It is very important not to fill up your potential customers in-box with mail. This will be considered spam. This is something you DO NOT want. Just a message or two a week. Be patient.

Focus on important points such as how your product can make life better and more enjoyable. Compelling subject lines in your e-mail is a must. If possible, do not use the word “free” because there are older spam filters that will dump content such as this into the junk file before it gets read. Try convincing those who signed up for your free report(s) that they will be missing out on the advantages of your product if they do not take action.

3. Target traffic that will be interested in your product. If the person who visited your website has no interest in what you are offering, they will move on and never come back. Your time and their time wasted. Write articles for publication in e-zines and e-reports. You can locate publications that focus on your target customers. Just do a Google or Yahoo search for e-zines and/or e-reports that are dedicated to your product.

You will need to write a minimum of two articles per week. Your articles should be a minimum of 300 to 600 words. By writing and maintaining these articles you can generate targeted readers to your articles and then to your site. Only 1 out of 100 people are likely to purchase your product or service. If you can generate as many as 1,000 targeted hits on your website a day, you can make 10 sales based on the this average statistic.

The tips given above are not difficult to employ. They do not take any technical skills. They just require a little time and a little effort on your part.

Try using these tips for your affiliate marketing programs. You can earn and maintain a good source of income and survive in this business that not all marketers can do.

Put in the time and effort and the results will show.
Good luck.

The Unmastered Affiliate - Three Keys to Starting a Successful Affiliate Campaign

Being an affiliate requires an investment of time to start and maintain a successful campaign. You can save yourself some wasted energy by conducting your research and planning upfront. Armed with a product to sell, your objective in hand, you now need to tackle these essential tasks before you launch your campaign: research keywords, writing the pitch, and getting the word out.

Research keywords

There's no excuse to not to do the proper keyword research for your product. First, you need a list of potential keywords, which you can generate from the product's sales page. You can also use the keyword tool provided by Adwords to find a collection of related terms. Once you have a larger list of potential keywords, you need to narrow down the list to viable keywords.

Here's a simple way to start: type in a prospective keyword for your product and look at the ads that show up on the results page. Are the ads promoting the same product that you are? More to the point, do the ads seem to be promoting only one product, or a number of products on a number of topics?

Whenever you do keyword research, you need to keep in mind what you are looking for. How targeted is the keyword? That is, how likely is the person searching for the keyword also searching for, and willing to purchase, your product? How much competition does the keyword have for your product, or similar products? How frequently is the keyword searched for at all?

Both Yahoo! and Google have keyword tools that will give you detailed information on each keyword so that you can reduce your trial and error before you ever start your campaign.

Writing the Pitch

Depending on your campaign, your pitch can be either ad text or an article.

Regarding ads, as much as possible, your keyword should be appear somewhere within the ad, either as part of the headline or display url. If you have a lot of keywords that don't appear within the ad at all, think carefully about how targeted those words truly are. Remember, people searching for a particular keyword should be prepared to either come across your product, or even better, prepared to purchase your product. If they are searching for something else entirely, then you have the wrong keywords. On the flipside, if your keywords are highly targeted but not contained within the text of your ad, you should think about rewriting your ads.

Regarding articles, whether your article is intended as a sales pitch, or informational, it is important to watch your keyword density. Density is really the number of times a particular word or term appears on a webpage, but it's good practice to pay attention to the density of the keywords for your product.

Getting the Word Out

You need to plan how you will spread the word about your product. Every method has its pros and cons and it is useful to do some research about each before you launch your campaign. At best, it will save you some wasted time and effort, possibly even some money, rather than learning through trial and error.

For example, right now Google Adwords is the definitive company to run ads on keyword search results. But being the best means a lot of your competitors are using it too, and the service isn't free. Even if you can get your cost per click down to pennies, that is still money you have to spend first before you have even made a dime.

As another example, an article submission site (like Ezine) is a great way to start advertising your product because spiders index new articles from those sites quickly. However, by submitting your article, you are giving permission to have your article republished almost anywhere on the internet. In addition to legitimate reuse of your article, bots sometimes steal partial text from your article and republish it with some words replaced or altered. The result is that your article is butchered and unreadable. Though this practice violates the rules of submission, it is generally difficult to track them all down and the best you can hope for is an intact link back to your article.

In order to be a successful affiliate, it's essential to plan ahead before you start your campaign. A little planning and research can go a long way to ensuring your time is spent wisely.

Andrew Marx writes weekly at http://unmasteredaffiliate.com about how to successfully unmaster your affiliate techniques in order to be a successful affiliate.

Blog, Blog, Blogging Your Way to a Better Affiliate Marketing Program

Did you hate group work in school? Perhaps you hated group work because you were the fearless leader who couldn't understand for the life of you why your group members were so apathetic and impassive. Or, perhaps you despised the dreaded group sessions because you resented the uptight, A+ student who always had to be the shining star of every project?

Group work is not easy work.

In a sense, The Internet, or more specifically the World Wide Web, is like a big conglomeration of individual and group projects that millions of people around the world have the opportunity to contribute to. You, for instance, are likely part of a school or organization that displays its website online. You of course may not agree with much of what your company professes or with your school's “bragging rights” but hey - isn't that the “charm” of group work.

The interesting thing about the World Wide Web is that it's not just about group work...it's about the individual as well. Blogs happen to be one of the most useful tools for the individual who's finding new ways to express herself online. Affiliate marketing happens to be blogging's online economical cousin. In other words, blogging and affiliate marketing are potentially some of the most powerful online tools for the individual.

Isn't it refreshing to say what you really think?

Why Blogs? Why Affiliate Marketing?
If you don't quite trust the Madison Avenue crowd then blogs and affiliate marketing might be your tools of preference. Blogs can be used by people who want to write about issues they believe in and sell products they would actually use themselves. Could blogs and affiliate marketing provide us with benefits that are almost too good to be true?

It might seem that way when you receive benefits such as the following:

#1: Blogs and Affiliate Marketing Don't Require Personal Compromise
If you choose the right blog space and the right affiliate marketing program, you still (of course) are not an autonomous entity, but you won't be a slave to your online tools either. There are possibly hundreds or even thousands of hosting potentials who will provide you with blog space you need at extremely low rates and affiliate marketing programs abound as well. The online competition is likely to keep prices low (at least for a while) and doesn't require that you invest any thing more than dollars/per month and the willingness to sell products that (depending on your affiliate merchant) you are likely to be able to select for yourself. Basically, blogs and affiliate marketing allow you to choose and express with more power than ever before.

#2: Blogs and Affiliate Marketing can Save You Time
One of the great things about blogs is that they can save you time. Sure, you still have to take 10 minutes+ to write each blog entry but with some content management systems you can quickly have your blog content uploaded to your website for safekeeping when beforehand you might have loaded entry page by entry page in a tedious round of content management. New and edited content on your website is also beneficial if you are participating in an SEO (search engine optimization) campaign. An affiliate program should rarely require much time on your part, especially if you choose a merchant that allows you to choose your own products, hand-pick your link types and then sit back as it provides affiliate reports for you. With a relevant affiliate program and a website that already attracts many visitors, you can literally make a good portion of revenue while you work on other projects.

#3: Blogs and Affiliate Marketing to Express Your Individuality
Blogs can help you express your opinions, your humor, your sarcasm and your happiness, while reaching a greater audience. Affiliate marketing can express the products that you support and help you make money online. Blogs and affiliate products can even be merged into one when you write about products that you have tried/proven. Affiliate banners can also be displayed in or near related blog entries for easy access to interesting products by blog readers.

#4: Blogs and Affiliate Marketing as part of a Network
Blogs and affiliate marketing allow you the option to network with a variety of online entities. However, once again, you can maintain your autonomy (your decisions in general do not have to be totally influenced by the network) as you simultaneously become one of many.

#5: Blogs and Affiliate Marketing
Blogs and affiliate marketing can contribute to an online atmosphere of transparency that for consumers is almost akin to a neighbor or friend recommending a valuable product. The power of commerce may indeed lie in the lap of those who provide honest opinions about the products they have tried and tested themselves.

Blogs and affiliate marketing allow for independence and often require only small investments of time and money. Decide for yourself how blogging and affiliate marketing, separate or combined, could make a difference for your own home-based or large-scale corporate business.

How Online Businesses Can Earn Through Affiliate Marketing

Doing business nowadays involves not just doing actual selling on shops, malls, street corners or in corporate boardrooms. Doing business online is a trend every entrepreneur needs to join and cash in, and be successful with.

For everyone who has surfed the Internet, encountering affiliate marketing is a common occurrence. The prevalence of affiliate programs on the Internet has been a phenomenal one and the chances are very high that most people have seen or even participated in affiliate marketing schemes and programs.

If people have ever clicked through one site to order, or view something, the first site probably did receive a portion of the sale. If someone is searching, for example, for cheap travel destinations and finds a site announcing and selling inexpensive tour packages, they might click on it and eventually purchase the package at the second site. While the shopper doesn't know that, the first site may get a portion of the proceeds since it was the ad, or link that led the customer to the site where they made the purchase.

Affiliate programs mean good business for small business websites, and help them to be more profitable. Web users who click on to a company's website are interested in many different products and services or ideas that may or may not be related to the product or services of the company. However, with a good knowledge of its customers, the small business can affiliate its company and website with other websites that offer what its customers want.

The vendor of the initial website receives a small percentage of sales, yet it eventually all adds up and it all it costs was a link on their website. It's way much better if your product or service involves recurring sales -- like shampoo or shaving cream -- so that your customers provide a continuing flow of profits for you to share more with your affiliates. If you think your firm has what it takes to do well with an affiliate marketing program, here are some tips to follow on how to make it come true:

Start signing up with an established affiliate network

Established affiliate networks make life quite easier for small business since they handle all the major paperwork and time-consuming work required to maintain a network of affiliates. In addition, their credibility would give top affiliates extra confidence that they will receive the commissions they earn. You can find a suitable network with low or no up-front charges, which allows a large part of your affiliate marketing expenses to be paid from sales generated from affiliates.

Be choosy with which program to join

A lot of newbies to affiliate marketing programs are willing to sign up almost anyone. However, this creates a motley assortment of low-grade or poor affiliates. It would more prudent to be choosy on accepting people to join the program. To develop your program, make extra effort on finding people who have strong, natural relationships with your top prospects.

Instruct your affiliates on effective marketing techniques

A large number of affiliate programs offer web sites, banners, buttons, links on efficient sales technology. It is imperative for small business affiliate programs to do a lot more when they train their affiliates in developing more personalized and unique methods of referring prospects.

Implement an attractive commission scheme

Low commission rates are not going to attract the hardworking, successful affiliate. It would be very tempting to start off paying five or even 10 percent commission to your affiliates, if only to test how well the program runs. The top earners you have will generate around 70 to 90 percent of all your affiliate businesses, so it would be quite foolish to be stingy with incentives and commissions.

How to Get Referrals for Your Referral and Affiliate Programs

Referral programs give you the opportunity to increase your earnings significantly! When a user signs up through your referral link, you are eligible to receive a referral bonus or earn a commission by getting paid a percentage of what they make and many times a percentage of what THEIR referrals make too! As you can imagine, promoting referral programs can make you hundreds of dollars a month without even having to complete any surveys or offers!

Getting Started

Most sites offer promotional tools such as web banners, promotional copy and text links that you can actively use in your promotion efforts. These are usually found in the members area by logging into your account. Make sure that you are using your unique referral link when using these tools or you won’t get credited! While you’re there, read up on the policies of your affiliate programs to make sure you’re not violating any policies. Spamming email lists and websites like MySpace or Facebook is not tolerated and can result in getting your account banned!

Promotion Methods

Here are ways you can promote your referral programs to make more money!

* Add the affiliate links to your email signature

* Add the affiliate links to your signature in forums you are active in

* Post your links on your MySpace or Facebook profile (don’t spam!)

* Create a Squidoo Lens about them

5 Tips For Newbie Success In Affiliate Marketing

Being new to Internet Marketing can be very intimidating. You are constantly getting bombarded with e-mails offering the latest and best programs available. You can quite possibly spend more money getting started before you even make a dime on the Internet. If you follow these 5 steps I am going to outline for you in this article You should be off to a good solid start in your new Internet Marketing career.

1. The first and most important step in starting your business is that you have to have a real good solid belief that you will succeed in the opportunity you are about to embark on. You also have to make a commitment to yourself that you will do what ever it takes to make your business succeed. You and you alone are responsible for whether your business succeeds or fails.

2. Next you want to put together a solid business plan. Without a good business plan you will just be spinning you wheels and getting nowhere. With a business plan you have a path to follow with actual goals you set to meet at certain points. This is a wonderful tool because you can track your progress in your business, and see where you need to make changes.

3. This next step will take some time to complete. You will need to find some good affiliate programs to join. What you want to look for in affiliate programs first of all is the percentage of commission you will earn. You want to find the ones that will pay you at least 50 percent. Another type would be 2 tier programs. They allow you to recruit members who sign up under you and you in turn make money off of their efforts. Another type of affiliate programs are ones that offer residual income. This is income that is earned for life from customer reorders or income from sub affiliates.

4. Now you need to have a place to promote your programs. The best way to do this is to get yourself a website. Having your own website is great because now you will be able to brand yourself, set your own niche. There are many good programs that will provide you with a website and hosting, all you have to do is come up with domain name and purchase it.

5. Once you have completed the first four steps you need to get people to your site. The first thing you need to do or this is to submit your site to as many search engines as possible. This will help you to get optimized in the search engines. Another way to get visitors to your site is to join online forums. There are many great IM forums out there. Finally one of the best ways to attract qualified traffic to your site is by writing articles and submitting them to article directories. This will attract visitors and give you quality one way links to your site which will move you up in the search engine ranks.

As you can see it is not too difficult to become successful with affiliate marketing. What it really takes is some belief in yourself and knowing that you will succeed. You also need to find the right programs for you, put them on a website and promote your site to bring visitors to it.

The Super Affiliates Check List For Choosing A Product To Promote!

Super affiliates have a full proof method of selecting the right product to promote! They have rules that they stick to every time they have to chose. Here is the check list that a super affiliate uses:

1. The sales copy
The sales copy must have good quality! If it is well written and makes the super affiliate want to buy the product, then he will buy it, check it and if it has value he will promote it. The super affiliate knows that if the sales letter made him get the product, then it’s very likely that others will do the same!

2. The price of the product
Super affiliates think outside the box! They don’t say “Hey, this software costs 300$! No one is going to buy it! I’ll go and look for one that’s cheaper!”, they go “Hmm… if this product has value, then I will earn a pretty good commission from it! I’ll get it and see if it really is that good!”.

A super affiliate knows that if a product seems relatively expensive (for example 300$) and at the same time it has a good to great sales letter, then they have to test the product! Why is that? Because, they know that this product might just be worth a lot more then it’s actual price!!! And if this is the case, then it will generate huge sales!

This doesn’t mean that super affiliates promote only high priced products! Not even close! They have products that sell for 67$, 47$, 27$ and even 7$! This is because the products are valuable and it brings them another source or income (even if they only get 3 $ per sale, the product is more likely to sell – if it has great bonuses- just because no one wants to loose the opportunity of getting something that’s worth 200$ or even 500$ for the price of 7$)!

3. The commission that the merchant is offering
Super affiliates want great commissions for promoting something. The higher the better!
They look for one tier affiliate programs and two tier ones.

A one-tier commission program will pay out a certain percentage on each sale you make.
A two-tier commission program will pay out a percentage on each sale you make plus another percentage of any sales made through your referral.

The super affiliate promotes a product, someone buys it (and the super affiliate gets the commission) and then the guy that initially bought becomes an affiliate for that product and promotes it to someone else who buys (the super affiliate gets another commission which is usually not very large, but they add up quickly!)

This sound great, but there’s even something greater! It’s called recurring commissions and super affiliates love them!

Recurring means again and again and… When you promote a product that has this sort of commission then all you have to do is sell it once ( these are usually monthly memberships or hosting programs) and you get paid again when the buyer pays for next month and so on!

Now, you see why the super affiliates are absolutely thrilled about these sort of commission!

4. The quality of the product
When they chose a product, super affiliates make sure that this has great value! This ensures that they will sell the product and that they build trust with their buyers (which will become their prospects for other products they promote in the future). Trust is very important for the super affiliates, because trust means more money in the future!

Also, they look for hidden benefits that the product might have and make that a key selling point in their promotions! By doing this, a super affiliate gets a head start over the others affiliates, because not anyone can find the hidden benefits of a product!

5. Does the product fit in with the strategy?
Super affiliates have plans and strategies that they stick to no matter what! That’s mainly the reason for their success: they don’t go chasing after every hot new product just because everyone is promoting it! If the product is in an area that they are not interested in or haven’t got a clue about, they just don’t promote it!

The super affiliates are often experts in just 2-3 niches! But they know their niche inside out and when a product in that specific niche comes out, then affiliates came to them to see if the product is good or not (if the super affiliate is promoting the product it means that it has a good value) and only after they start promoting.

It’s not unusual, for the super affiliates, to be asked if they are promoting a product by the members of their lists and the one that know them (this is trust at work!)! People go to super affiliates because they know they are experts and often they offer great bonuses for the products they promote!

YouTube is a free site where you can upload and view a multitude of videos on a very extensive amount of topics from pets to politics and more. Founded in 2005 by three previous employees of the highly successful PayPal system, it has become increasingly popular and grows even more as each day passes.

With viewers and users that number in the millions, YouTube has become a great outlet for online advertisers like affiliates. Imagine having the ability to reach millions of people at once – it’s practically like running a TV or radio ad when you think about it.

Named Time Magazine’s Invention of the Year in 2006, it’s really made its mark and has had quite an impact in the online and offline worlds as well. So obviously, this is one free web-based method of advertising that affiliate marketers should really consider taking advantage of to help get the word out about the products they’re promoting.

By creating your own video and uploading it to the YouTube site, you have the potential to increase your affiliate sales tremendously. Membership is free and registered users can upload unlimited numbers of videos. To make the most impact as an affiliate, your video should not be some long-winded, complicated lecture about who you are and what you do because that would deter people from listening to you. Keep it short and sweet.

Quirky videos do the best because they spread virally. People like to share funny or interesting videos, so don’t be afraid to be creative in showcasing what the product you’re promoting can help someone achieve.

Make sure that somewhere in your video, you include the link to your squeeze page. You can have it in text or spell it out for them if it’s difficult to remember. Putting yourself in the viewer’s place is a helpful tip because it will provide you with the opportunity to see yourself in someone else’s eyes.

You want your video to be as interesting and convincing as possible so that you would buy into whatever it is you’re trying to promote. Of course, one of the great benefits of using the YouTube site as an affiliate marketing tool is that as a registered member, you can upload as many videos as you want.

If you’re not entirely happy with your video once it’s been uploaded, or you’re not getting the traffic generation and increase in sales you wanted or expected, you can upload additional videos until you get your desired results. Testing and tweaking is a staple idea for every aspect of online marketing, even with advanced digital formats.

5 Essential Things You Must Find In A Winning Affiliate Program!

Many affiliate marketers don't earn any significant amount of money online because they don't know what to look for in a good affiliate program.

It is sad because even if you promote like crazy, you will not make any money marketing an affiliate program with poor conversion rates.

Happily, once you know what to look for before you choose to promote your affiliate program, everything becomes easier.

Let's discover these five points right away...

Point #1 – High Conversion Rates.

The website you are promoting must display its conversion rates inside the affiliate members area. Don't waste your time with affiliate programs that don't take care of their affiliates, and don't help them to earn more money.

A great (or good enough) product plus a solid copy will get high conversion rates, and hence, more commissions for you.

Be sure that the merchant is continuously testing his website. Why? Because overtime, you will earn more affiliate commissions.

Be aware that video is quickly becoming a major element of sales page online, and even simple landing pages.

Point #2 - High Commission Rates.

Try to always chose the product with the highest commission rate. After all, you are here for the money. The goal of any business is to make more money.

Point #3 – High Quality Product.

Always over-deliver. Your customers must say wow, when they buy the products you recommended or endorsed. When this happens, they will buy more than one of your recommendation, but several of them overtime.

Video products sell very well, so you should pay close attention to them if you are not already marketing info-products.

Reason #4 – High Quality and Reliable Tracking System

You don't want to promote a winning product, and find out that commission were'nt tracked! So be sure to have a system in place to detect a problem, and make your research before you start your massive online advertising campaign.

So be sure to check that there is a

Reason #5 – Reliable Commission Payments Software.

You also want to be sure that you will receive your hard earned money (affiliate marketing is not so easy...).

The ideal solution is to be paid instantly. As an affiliate, the only system I know for this is the seven dollar secret system.

You are paid instantly into your paypal account when you make a sale! See an example here: http://www.makemoneyonlinehow.com.

Otherwise, being paid every two weeks is acceptable as well.

If you look for these five points before starting to promote your affiliate products, you will see a nice increase in your affiliate revenue, so do your home work.

Affiliate Marketers - How To Create The Perfect Blog To Promote Your Affiliate Programs

You are promoting an affiliate program. Maybe more than one. And you're wondering if you are doing everything possible to promote your internet marketing business.

You have a website but you're not getting enough traffic to convert to sales. Maybe at this time you don't have the available cash to invest in Adwords. What are you going to do?

Why blog, of course!

By now, even your grandparents probably have heard of blogs. Maybe they even have one of their own...

Are you already blogging to promote your affiliate? Is it performing like you had hoped? Are you new to the blogging experience but you want to market your affiliate program with more success?

Blogging is the perfect vehicle for getting traffic. Not just any lost souls. Highly-targeted traffic. And, it's free! What can be better than that?

The two most popular blogging platforms are:

Blogger and Wordpress

You'll want to play around with both to get a feel for what works for you. Both have excellent qualities. It's just a matter of finding your perfect fit. Try not to become impatient setting up your first blog. As with most things, the first time is the hardest. After that, you'll amaze yourself with how competent a blogger you've become! Once you have your blog set up, what then? Well, search engines love great content. So, you will be the master of your blog content. They're called posts.

Here is where you'll shine. You will provide information on your affiliate program. It can be a review. Or it can be relevant articles on a certain aspect of the affiliate program. Don't stress about writing. Just write like you talk. Visitors will appreciate you.

What's the most important thing you'll need to know about creating the perfect blog?

Keywords. I can't stress it enough. Keywords. Learn everything you can about them. Read everything you can get your hands on about them. And...then, study some more. Seriously, it is crucial to promoting anything online.

There are many good programs you can buy to assist you with keyword research. For the free ones, I use...

Wordtracker and Goodkeywords

How will people find your blog? First, you'll want to "ping". Yes, that's what it's called.

My favorite "pinging" platforms are:

Technorati and Pingoat

Easy to use and free! You'll want to ping after every update to your blog. This gets the word out that more content is available. And you've given more food to the search engine spiders. For all the above mentioned companies, just put the word in your search browser to reach their webpage.

Now go forth and multiply. Your traffic-producing blogs, that is!

Affiliate Marketing on the Cheap

You've looked at all sorts of work-at-home business opportunities and have decided that affiliate marketing best fits your needs and desires. You know that you have to spend money to make money, but either your budget is very tight or you have decided to not spend a lot of money until you get your feet wet as an affiliate.

As a general rule of thumb, if you spend your money wisely, the more you spend, the less time it will take to start making money.

How do you get the most return for the least money spent? The good news is you can make money in affiliate marketing without spending one red cent.

You will need to establish a web presence and you can do that for free.

The easiest way, in my opinion, is to open a ClickBank account, choose a product you wish to promote, and get your hoplink. It's not actually "your" web presence; it's a link to the vendor site you are promoting, but you can be up and running in less than 5 minutes.

I highly recommend starting a blog. Your ISP may offer free blog space or you can create a free blog through sites such as blogger.com. There are templates available, so you don't have to know HTML, and you can be set up in a very few minutes. You can begin to establish your credibility in your niche by posting articles you have written. Search engines spiders will sniff out your content and your pages will be indexed on Google, Yahoo, et al.

To go beyond these, you will probably want to establish your own website, and this will cost you money and time. You will need a domain name and website hosting. This can be done relatively cheaply by shopping around.

You will then need to build your site. If you know HTML you can do it yourself for free, but it will take time. Or you can use website building software, such as Dreamweaver. These packages range from relatively inexpensive to quite expensive, depending on their features. They are timesavers and they can help you turn out a high quality website, but as I mentioned before, you are trading money for time.

Another option is a turnkey "Internet business in a box" solution such as Simple Money Machines (I am an affiliate for this product). They take care of the domain name, website hosting, website creation, email autoresponder and all the technology stuff that would cost you a great deal of time or a lot of money – or both – if you did it all yourself. The cost is nominal for what you get, and you can literally be up and running in 30 minutes. Give it a look by clicking on the link at the bottom of this article.

Once you have your web presence you will have to advertise to get traffic to your site. This also can be done for free or for very nominal cost.

I am a big fan of article submission. You can write articles, such as this one, and submit them to distribution services that will publish your articles for free. Webmasters are always looking for good content and they comb these sites for relevant articles. Yours will be picked up and distributed widely. If readers find your articles credible, they will click on the affiliate link at the bottom of your articles and visit your affiliate site. This takes time and multiple articles, but eventually momentum does build. An often overlooked upside to article submission is that once published, your articles will be on the Internet for a long time and many months from now someone could read one of them and click on your link.

If you like the idea of article submission but don't feel you have the talent to write high quality articles or you don't have the time, there are services that will create articles for you. Shop around and you can find some very reasonable prices. These articles will be yours to copyright and publish as you see fit.

Advertising through ezines is also an effective way to drive traffic to your site. Costs vary depending on the size, placement, and duration of your ads, so you should be able to find something that will fit your budget.

Perhaps the highest profile advertising but potentially the most expensive is pay-per-click. If you don't know what you are doing, it can eat up a lot of money very quickly with very little positive result. A good place to get your feet wet in the PPC world without breaking the bank is miva.com. Once you set up an account, the initial cost is $100.

Affiliate marketing is a vast arena, and obviously I've just barely scratched the surface. The main point I hope you take away is that if you do your homework and research carefully, you should have no problem being successful as an affiliate marketer on a limited budget.

Unmastering Affiliate Tactics - Unloving the Autoresponder

One of the most frequently offered suggestions I have heard on mastering affiliate techniques is to learn to the love the autoresponder. An autoresponder will send a series of newsletters to the inbox of prospective or current customers, in any order or frequency that you specify. There are a number of e-mail marketing companies with competitive pricing that will help you design and schedule these e-mail messages. All you need is the e-mail addresses of your customers.

The theory behind e-newsletters is to establish a relationship of trust with a potential customer, thus increasing the chances that they will buy a product you have recommended. Plus, most people, once they sign up for a newsletter, will continue their subscription indefinitely, which increases your chances for making a sale with persistent, convincing promotions. All you need is a well-written sales pitch.

E-mail marketing is a cost-effective tool for affiliates for sending out daily or weekly newsletters to every client. You can schedule the first e-mail to go out on the day the customer signs up, and the second e-mail to go out 24 hours later, and the third e-mail will go out 24 hours after that and so on. The automation of the process means that you need to do very little after the initial set-up of your autoresponder.

To make it work, you need the following tools.

1) The pitch page that sells the product
For many affiliates, this is the web page provided by the product's publisher.

2) The squeeze page
This is the landing page that all customers come to first when they click on a link for the product you are selling.

The main purpose of the squeeze page is to get potential customers to sign up for a newsletter. In order to entice them, you can offer insider information, a free gift, even a free product that they can receive as soon as they sign up. Whether or not the customer then immediately views the pitch page, you have established a relationship with them that you can use to offer your promotions via e-mail later on.

3) An autoresponder
You can utilize an e-mail marketing program like iContact if you want the maximum amount of assistance setting up your autoresponders.

4) Content for each e-newsletter

That's it! Each newsletter you send is an opportunity for your potential customers to visit your promotions page. The more often they come to promotions page, the more opportunities for affiliate sales you can generate.

Though there are potential pitfalls to this type of marketing, I want to mention when an affiliate expert tells you to not be afraid of designing a webpage or an autoresponder, they are absolutely right. Whether you know anything about web design or not, there are enough companies now that will walk you through a step-by-step process of designing your own website. Godaddy offers webpage creation with every domain you purchase. And when you sign up with an e-mail marketing company, they too will walk you through creating autoresponders without knowing anything about how to create them. All you need is the content and the e-mails.

And that is where you might have the most problems. Don't forget that the publisher of the product you are selling is probably also building their own e-mail lists. If so, that means you are competing for the same customers. Then you must distinguish yourself in your newsletter, both with what you are offering, and how you offer it.

Affiliates who use autoresponders need to also be aware of how federal law inhibits your business practices. The CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 has placed pretty severe limits on how businesses can send e-mail. The law mandates the use of opt-in marketing, prohibits deceptive subject lines and header information, and requires that recipients be allowed to opt out of contact at any time. If you sign up for a legitimate e-mail marketing company, they should be fully aware, and in full compliance with, the CAN-SPAM Act. And it doesn’t hurt you at all to know something about the law yourself.

Autoresponders are a great tool for making regular contact with your customers by e-mail. But like many affiliate tactics, in and of itself, it does not help you convert sales. That's why, though you might love the autoresponder, don't forget that there is more to affiliate sales than just sending out e-mails day after day to your clients.
