Top 10 Things To Look For Before Joining Any Affiliate Program

While affiliate marketing in itself is a legit business model, it is sad that some merchants out there don't just want to play by the rules. There are some merchants who do not pay affiliates in time. Then there are others who sell junk products with a lot of sales hype. With more and more horror stories about affiliate marketing popping up every day, questions are now being raised as to whether affiliate marketing is really a viable option any longer. In this article I will tell you about ten things to look out for while choosing an affiliate program.

Obviously, you don't want to be with the scammers. As an affiliate, you want to promote products that you would be proud to recommend to others or even to your own family. You would also like to promote products that offer you a decent affiliate payout and moreover, pays you on time. And the fact that affiliates are making thousands of dollars in full time income just from a chosen few affiliate programs is proof enough that legitimate affiliate programs do exist there. You just need to pick them out.

So, if you ever decide to join an affiliate program, here are ten things you might want to look over before promoting a product:

1. As a rule of thumb, always participate in the affiliate program of products and services which you yourself would be willing to purchase. What I mean is that if you see a certain product that you feel interested in purchasing, you can join the affiliate program of the product. This way, you will be more enthusiastic when promoting the product.

2. Try to participate in affiliate programs in which some of the experts of your niche have participated. This way you know that the program is of high quality and offers quality products.

3. Always join an affiliate program that provides quality solutions and products; products that solve a problem of the prospect. Always avoid programs that live only on hype and promise instant riches. If you know any person who has purchased products from the company, track them down and ask them about the credibility of the program.

4. The program that is catering to a growing target market. This will ensure you that there will be more and continuous demands for your referrals. Make inquiries. There are forums and discussions you can participate in to get good and reliable feedbacks.

5. A program with a compensation plan that pays out a residual income and a payout of 30% or more would be a great choice. There are some programs offering this kind of compensation. Look closely for one. Do not waste your time with programs that do not reward substantially for your efforts.

6. Be aware of the minimum quotas that you must fulfill or sales targets that are too hard to achieve. Some affiliate programs impose certain pre-requisites before you get your commissions. Just be sure that you are capable of attaining their requirements.

7. Select one that has plenty of tools and resources that can help you grow the business in the shortest possible time. Not all affiliate programs have these capacities. Make sure you decide on one with lots of helpful tools you can use.

8. Check out if the program has a proven system that can allow you to check your networks and compensation. Also check if they have it available online for you to check anytime and anywhere.

9. An affiliate program that provides continuous help and upgrades for its products have the tendency to retain its members. These things can assure the growth of your networks.

10. If you feel doubtful about a particular product, ask about its upsides and downsides in a discussion forum. If you know someone who has joined that program, or is a currently a member, don't be afraid to ask them about the upsides/downsides of the program. Always do a through checking of the affiliate network or product before starting to promote it.

Computing Your Affiliate Marketing Earnings - Tips

Affiliate marketing is a method of marketing for web businesses through websites, ads and other forms of promotion for other companies, and paying out a commission. In other words, the affiliate earns commission for every visitor, subscriber, customer, and/or sale provided through his/her site.

The commission is determined using methods like certain values for each response affiliate marketing leads to, such as pay per click, pay per lead, Cost Per Acquisition and pay per sale. In order to become an affiliate marketer, the first thing to do is search the Web for affiliate networks and join the one that suits you best, like Affiliate Program Directory or Avangate Affiliates Program.

Steps In Joining An Affiliate Marketing Program

Once you've decided to join a specific program, fill out an online application form to become a member. Once you do, you'll be asked to provide personal information, such as your name, address, the payment mode you wish, and your site info (URL, name, description of content). You will also be asked to agree to a service contract; however joining the majority of affiliate networks is generally for free. Once your application is approved, you could choose the affiliate programs that deem appropriate and interesting to you. If the affiliate program managers approve of you, they would then guide you through the affiliation process, such as posting links on your Webpage.

Keep in mind that it is most probable you would not make a quick profit right away, and since you will most likely get paid according to the amount of clicks from your site that generate into sales for the program owner's site, the earnings from affiliate marketing programs can be rather minimal at the start. The amounts that you earn for every conversion will be pooled until you reach a minimum amount, generally some tens of dollars, that can then be paid out to you.

How To maximize Profits With Affiliate Programs

To make sure that you earn enough from a program, choose an affiliate network that is credible and well-known. Ensure that you check certain aspects of the program, such as how long the program has been running, if a super affiliate is promoting the affiliate program, the amount of traffic the site is generating, or the structure and payment modes of commission. Here are some important tips to bear in mind:

- It would be best to also first ascertain the percentage of commission on the sales of the chosen affiliate program. See that the commissions paid out are at least 20% or above. Do not agree to get paid within the 10% range, even for high-end products. Always keep in mind that you have to raise the money for marketing and advertising, and that the commission should pay for your operating costs, and still leave you a respectable profit. Specifically find out the minimum commission payments before joining.

- If you want to earn double, try going for 2-tiered programs. A 2-tiered program can earn you more through the commissions you earn from your sub-affiliates, however these could be very meager amounts. If you get more and more sub-affiliates to join you, then only this will boost your earnings.

- It is also worth noting that the best affiliate marketing programs keep active the customer referral cookie for 60 to 120 days. By doing so, if your visitor decides to buy the product directly from the principal vendor's website within 120 days of their first visit via your link, you still get the commissions you deserve.

The Top 10 Keys to Dominating any Affiliate Program

Affiliate marketing has been a very large success in the past few years. More and more people are creating a vast amount of affiliate programs in order to make a living online. Follow these ten keys and you will easily dominate the competition and succeed with any affiliate program.

1) Offer lifetime commissions. This will help to ensure the marketer they will be set financially after they make a sale.

2) Pay your affiliates well for their efforts. If you are thinking about offering a 15% commission for sales of your product and a competing business is paying a 25% commission, you will lose affiliates to your competitor.

3) Make your affiliate program more appealing by offering residual commissions. This is an excellent choice if you offer a product that is paid for on a residual basis. These programs include web hosting or access to your membership website.

4) Look around at other competing businesses that offer affiliate programs. Try to think of ways that you can make your affiliate program more enticing. Your affiliates will see the power of lifetime commissions, and therefore work harder to promote your business and send you more potential sales.

5) Think about making your affiliate program two-tier. For instance, reward your affiliates by giving them a commission on the sales of people they refer to your program.

6) Do not leave ignore your affiliates. Provide them with a lot of sales items that they can use to help promote your products.

A few items you can use are signature file ads, sales letters, educational e-books, a few sample recommendation, your personal articles that they can reprint with their links, and even free sign ups to a newsletter. You can also add more items you wish to use.

7) Always respond to affiliate e-mail. An easy way to lose your affiliates is to ignore their questions and not respond to their e-mails at all. This shows that you do not value them. Keep in mind that they can run off to another affiliate program and make money for someone else. Your affiliates are the ones that keep you in business.

8) Provide your own tips and advice. Follow up with your affiliates with tips and strategies that they can use to increase their sales.

9) Reward your top affiliates with higher commissions and bonuses. You will easily achieve more sales over the long term because your top affiliates will not jump to another affiliate program.

10) Publish an affiliate newsletter. Your affiliate newsletter will help you to share your tips and keep them going in the right direction. You can also use your newsletter to keep your top affiliates excited about your program.

A few highly effective ways to do this include sharing information on how the top earners succeed, listing the top ten highest affiliate marketers, and providing assistance in other areas such as traffic generation.

After you have spent time using these tips, you will definitely notice an increase in your earnings. Affiliate marketers play a major roll in the success of your program. Just remember to treat them with respect and keep an eye on their performance.

Does Affiliate Marketing Work and Deliver Good Money

Affiliate Marketing is by far one of the easiest ways to start your online venture and here is why. Firstly you don’t have to create a product to sell. You simply come up with an idea and what interests you and go out and find an affiliate product or products that you can promote. If you already have your own product then use this method for a back end sell to your lists.

Sometimes by giving you’re perspective customer a couple of choices, it gives you a better chance of making at least one sale and making a little money rather than that customer clicking away form your site. After all, you invested the time and energy getting the customer to your site and some is better than none, especially if that prospect becomes your customer.

The affiliate can earn by having an ad or link to the merchant's website, which prospective customers will hopefully click and proceed to make a purchase. As soon as the customer clicks on the ad on the affiliate's site, is redirected to the merchant's website and goes on to buy that particular product, the affiliate earns a commission. The more referrals there are the more profit for the affiliate.

Affiliate marketing is an excellent way to earn money while at home. There are virtually no production costs. The product is already developed and proven by the merchant, and all you have to do to find, as many prospects as you can that will bring in the profit for both the merchant and the affiliate. Affiliate programs are usually free to join, so affiliates do not have to worry about start-up costs. There are thousands of products and services you can choose from.

You can find affiliate marketing programs for every product under the sun. Surely, there is a product or service out there that is relevant to your website. In addition, there is absolutely no sales experience necessary. Most affiliate programs offer excellent support when it comes to providing marketing material.

The simplicity of affiliate marketing allows you to be an affiliate marketer at the least cost and the most comfort. You can even build a successful affiliate marketing business right in the convenience of your own home. In affiliate marketing, your responsibility is simply to find prospects for the merchant; you do not have to worry about inventory, order processing, and product shipping. These, along with customer service support are the duties of the merchant.

Affiliate Marketing 101

Have you ever recommended a restaurant, movie, or CD to a friend? If so, you're already an experienced Affiliate marketer.

Chances are, you didn't receive a commission check for recommending any of those things, but you can now earn a generous commission by recommending the products of other Internet marketers as one of their affiliates.

The term "associates" is also sometimes used, but it means exactly the same thing. You are referring potential customers in exchange for a commission if they buy something.

Affiliate programs have flourished on the Internet, largely due to the ease with which they can be created and operated and the relative ease with which someone can arrange to become an affiliate.

There are three basic ways to become an affiliate. The easiest way, both for the affiliate and for the vendor is what is known as automatic affiliate enrollment. That means that to become an affiliate, you don't have to formally join anything or fill out an opt-in form. This approach has become extremely popular recently, largely due to the hugely popular script called the $7 script developed and promoted by Jonathan Leger.

That script allows anyone to append a Paypal address to the URL of the product's sales page and when some buys from that link, the affiliate's commission is deposited directly into his or her Paypal account.

The second approach to an affiliate program involves formally applying by filling out and submitting an opt-in form, which may or may not require approval by the vendor before the applicant is accepted as an affiliate. A third approach is used by affiliate programs for which a prospective affiliate must either buy the product or be personally invited in order to be eligible to apply to become an affiliate.

For downloadable information products, the affiliate's commission is typically 40% to 50%, but can be as high as 75% to 100%. You read that right! I said up to 100%. How can this be? The answer lies in something called the Lifetime Value of a customer.

For example, if you promote one of my products as an affiliate, I may choose to make little or no profit on the Front End, hoping to make a lot of profit on the Back End, by offering the customer other products and services, either immediately after the initial sale or later on. In effect, this technique gives me the ability to acquire valuable potential customers WITHOUT cost or even negative cost, that is actually making a profit in the process of acquiring the lead. Moreover, these are very high-quality leads, because they are actually qualified buyers who have just proven that they are interested in the niche in which I'm doing business.

Even if I give my affiliates most of the profit on the initial sale, if I make ANY profit at all, my cost of acquiring the lead is then actually less than ZERO. As the owner of an affiliate program, this system works very well for me. Even in the worst case, where I give an affiliate 100% commission, my cost of acquiring the lead is still essentially ZERO.

One of the many great benefits of offering downloadable information products is that the cost of production and distribution is close to ZERO. So, if I promote a product through affiliates, my cost for producing, promoting, and distributing it is close to ZERO. This is especially true for products promoted through Clickbank, which provides an easy and efficient way for prospective affiliates to find out about and promote my products.

Affiliate marketing is also a great opportunity for affiliates, who are spared the need to develop or procure the product or create a sales page. Moreover, affiliates don't even need a merchant account, which is often difficult to obtain when just starting out. In addition, the affiliate is freed from the responsibility of delivering and supporting the product. The affiliates sole task is to promote the product online or offline.

Affiliate Marketing - The Importance of Mailing Lists

A lot of people are taking an interest in affiliate marketing as a way to either make a living or to earn supplementary income. The growth of affiliate marketing isn’t all that hard to understand, as it provides a way to make money from retail products without having to stock inventory, make direct sales to the public or handle returns in the event that the customer is unhappy with the product. With affiliate marketing, the sales process is entirely “hands off.”

While there is no work to be done along the lines of making direct sales, there is a lot of work involved in making the public aware of the products you are trying to promote. Two popular methods of bringing your products to the public’s attention are to purchase pay per click advertising on the major search engines or to build a Website promoting one or more products. While these methods both work, they require regular, active work, and in the case of pay per click advertising, a regular outlay of cash as you continually try to draw new customers to your advertisements for your products. There is a better way, however, and that is to leverage the customers you already have by creating a mailing list.

Studies show that customers who buy a product are likely to buy another one in the future. Since it is far easier to make a sale to a proven customer than it is to attract a new one, it makes sense to compile a mailing list of customers. That way, should you decide to promote a new product in the future, you can e-mail a sales pitch to your list and know that the message will likely be read by customers who are “ready to buy.”

The best part of having a mailing list is that you can automate a lot of the process by using an autoresponder. An autoresponder is an online service that handles mailings and mail lists for you, usually for a small monthly fee. Two of the more popular services are Aweber and Get Response. These services allow you to create a simple form that appears on your Website, asking visitors for their name and e-mail address. You can usually entice them to sign up by offering a free report of some sort in exchange for the information. Once they fill in the form and click the submit button, they are automatically sent a confirmation e-mail, followed by a link to download the report you offered them. From that point on, unless they unsubscribe, they are members of your mailing list.

The power of a mailing list should not be underestimated. There are marketers who have one hundred thousand or more names on their lists, and whenever a new product comes to market, these “super marketers” have the inside track on sales through their ability to instantly contact their members. When you compare the ability to contact hundreds, thousands or even tens of thousands of people instantly with having to build a Website or buy ads, you can easily see how useful it can be to have a list of your own.

A popular saying in affiliate marketing is that “the money is in the list.” It’s nice to make a sale on the Web or via a pay per click ad, but your goal shouldn’t be to make one sale; it should be to make many sales. With a mailing list, you have the ability to do just that.

A Secret Method That Will Earn You $350 Per Day

Before I tell you this realize this is something I have been doing for a while and I'm not saying its new or never been done. I'm saying this is what I DO!

I made the money as an affiliate doing a VERY simple method that has resulted in profits EVERY TIME!!!

Step 1: Find an affiliate product you want to promote. Simple right?

Step 2: This is your bread and butter. You need to set up nothing more than a landing page. Make sure you have an autoresponder to capture emails. Start a list or add on to your existing list in that niche. Give away something free in order to get them to opt in. (nothing new)

Step 3: Once they opt in take them to a tell a friend script. PLEASE DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP! After they opt in you have to redirect them to a tell a friend script. Offer something else useful for free as an incentive. (Nothing new!)

Step 4: After they opt in there is a good chance they will want the other free gift so they will send it to 1 or 2 sometimes 3 friends. Make sure you have a link where they can click that says "No I don't want to send to a friend".

Step 5: Here is the trick. Program your tell-a-friend script to redirect them to the affiliate program you chose. (Simple right?)

Step 6: They buy and you get commission!

Now if you don't get the power in this system I'll explain. The power is in the tell a friend script. That's why you need to make them an offer they can't refuse. So if they don't buy that affiliate product there is a chance the other 3 people they sent the link to will, and if they don't lets say 2 of those people sent it to 3 more people and so on and so on.

This creates endless opportunities for a sell. If the program you are promoting has a good enough sales page you'll definitely get some sales. This is great because the viral effect is endless.

*NOTE* I did not say you will bring in $350 your first day. It Won't! It takes a few days to a few weeks to build momentum. This is the snow ball effect. It also depends on how quickly you generate traffic.

It's a WIN WIN anyway because you have their email where you can market to them, AND they can buy the affiliate product. Thats the WIN WIN. And if they don't buy the product its still a WIN because you still have their email which is more valuable of the two anyway.

4 Affiliate Marketing Tips, the Only Ones You'll Ever Need

For many online marketers, affiliate marketing is a first step in their journeys to make money online. Often they progress on to purchasing resale rights or developing their own products to sell. Many times, their products are ebooks selling their own strategies and tools for succeeding.

Each generation of new affiliate marketers is then faced with an ever-increasing number of gurus, methods, ebooks, courses, manuals, programs, and so forth. The maze gets more complicated and confusing daily! How is an affiliate marketer to know where to start, what to do, and what strategy to follow.

I've assembled a short list of four tips and the reasons why you need to follow them. If you don't want to have your own website, you have no money to invest in your business, and you don't care about longevity in this business, these tips may not be for you.

My assumptions are these: you want free search engine traffic and are more comfortable with writing content than you are with advertising; and you either can do all the work necessary yourself, can hire someone to help you, and/or you can purchase software that will help you with whatever is left to do.

1. You need to find a profitable niche. Trying to market everything to everybody won't work - it's a sure recipe for failure. You have to know who your market is, what they need, what their problems are, and how your product can solve them. You can hire someone to do a few weeks of seo/sem research and niche development for you, you can do all the work yourself with the help of a free manual, "The Affiliate Masters Course", available at, or you can buy software such as my current favorite, Niche Inspector.

2. You need to build a website around your niche. Choose an easy way: a Squidoo page is very simple; a Wordpress blog is also easy and is more customizeable in appearance; a web hosting service with built-in templates gives you a complete website package. With a website, you have a bit of internet real estate, somewhere people can find you and your products no matter where they live or what timezone they are in, 24/7/365.

3. You need quality, original, fresh, relevant content for your website. If you include content written by others, such as syndicated or private label rights articles, you should balance this with at least an equal amount of original content. Fresh content brings visitors back; enough content makes your visitors stick around for a while. You can either write content yourself, rewrite PLR articles so they are unique, use syndicated articles, pay someone to ghostwrite articles for you, and/or use RSS feeds to automate content updates.

4. You need backlinks. Links on other quality, original, relevant sites that send traffic to pages on your site. My favorite linking strategy is to use article marketing and carefully crafted and negotiated reciprocal links. Link directories are another option, but I suggest using only the ones that are not free. I've gotten tons of spam from directories, so I no longer use free ones.

I contact webmasters one at a time, after carefully studying their site and doing 2 things: finding the perfect page on their site for a link to mine, and vice versa. This could be the homepage, an article, whatever is mutually and equally beneficial to us. Sometimes a link fits only on my article directory page; this is fine, because limiting this page to only a few links gives them more validity than listing them with hundreds of others.

There's nothing new, flashy or glamorous about these basic steps, but they are sure to result in targeted traffic. There are other faster ways to build traffic, but these tips will build you a stable, honest site over time. Don't be overwhelmed, just do something every day, knowing that everything you do will last and grow organically.

There are always new, flashy and glamorous things you can do. As you find the time and inclination, you can add them to these 4 simple steps. There will come a time when suddenly your business will have grown enough that you can hire an assistant, or someone with expertise in one of the four areas. This will make your job easier and give you more time to explore different strategies, plus it's more fun to work with others. If you have faith, perseverance and determination and follow these simple steps every day, your affiliate marketing business will flourish.

A Few Basics of Affiliate Marketing

I can still hear my high school football coach repeating again and again..."Focus on the fundamentals!" This sentence rings true in most endeavors, including online affiliate marketing. If you don't address the basics, your shooting yourself in the foot right from the get go. So as not to beat around the is a very general view of the basics of affiliate marketing.

Basic No. 1

Discover what it is that people on the internet want and are looking for. If you don't do your homework first and try to market the first affiliate that you find, you are wasting your time and will only bring yourself frustration and disappointment. There are tools out there that will help you gather the information you need to research different markets.

Basic No. 2

Partner with companies that are providing the things these individuals want by becoming an affiliate. This shouldn't be to hard. There are many, many companies on the web that have affiliate programs. Once you sign up as an affiliate you will have the right to market that companies product(s). This can be done in multiple ways and there are many resources to learn about these.

Basic No. 3

Create a web presence that can effectively present these products to those who are looking. Possibly a website (many sources out there offering free website), a blog (again, multiple sources), among other. The important thing here is simply to have a vehicle for offering this product you've chosen, through thought and research, to the web public.

Basic No. 4

Drive those people, that are wanting and looking for what you are offering, to your website so they may encounter your offer and make a buying decision.

Basic No. 1 and Basic No. 4 are where the vast majority of people fail. By not doing their homework ahead of time, people are working hard to offer a product that might not be fulfilling any particular need of the public. And in turn by not putting the effort in and using the right strategies to drive web traffic to there offer people may be offering a great product that absolutely fills the needs of the public, but falling far short of getting enough peoples attention to create sales.

In the end you must put in the time and effort to educate yourself on the basics, put in some hard work, and be diligent in your business. There is an idea being propagated out there that making money on the internet is a cinch. If you are entering into your journey to make money online thinking it should be a breeze you're in for a rude awakening. It's not complicated, but that doesn't mean it's easy. Approach it like you would any other business, worry about acquiring the basics and the money will follow.

Affiliate Marketing Mistakes All Affiliate Marketers Should Avoid to Achieve Success

The goal of all Affiliate Marketers when they start an Affiliate Marketing Business is to achieve success. Most of them start with the wrong impression that success can be achieved overnight and with very little effort. Unfortunately it is not so and mistakes made by them further complicate matters with failure looming large in the horizon. To avoid failures and disappointments it will be wise to learn about the most common affiliate marketing mistakes that affiliate marketers make and avoid these mistakes at the very beginning itself.

1. Many new entrepreneurs in their anxiety to start an affiliating marketing business choose a product simply because it generates a high commission or it has a captivating banner. They often start with this mistake. It is extremely important that you should do a research in the internet for a Niche product for which there is a great need. It should also generate a reasonably good commission for your efforts.

2. A mistake often made is promoting too many affiliate programs with equal intensity. This will confuse your website visitors. To succeed in affiliate marketing it is always wise to concentrate on one niche affiliate program and have a few other good affiliate programs that will be of interest to your clients and visitors. Thus they are provided with an option. These extra programs can be a source of additional income. Marketing and promoting affiliate programs can take a lot of time and effort and hence it is good to have a limit.

3. Many people jump into the affiliate marketing band wagon with very little or no knowledge of marketing. Their perception is that if you have a website and an affiliate product, money will start flowing in. This is another mistake made by most people. It will be advantageous to equip yourself with sufficient skills and knowledge before you start your business or keep on acquiring knowledge as you go along. It is bound to make life much easier as an affiliate marketer.

4. Affiliate products can be promoted without having your own website. To look professional and to reap the full benefits, a website is necessary. Most affiliate programs are free to join and a website does not cost very much either. Affiliate Marketing is one of the easiest and cheapest methods of making your entrance into the field of business. To make money with your affiliate programs you need targeted traffic to your website. A highly optimized content is the key to that. In addition several other strategies too have to be implemented to ensure a steady flow of targeted traffic.

5. The biggest mistake most entrepreneurs make in all kinds of businesses is to give up early and at the wrong time. Many give up after having put in a lot of time and effort, often disappointed that they are not making money from their businesses. Benefits of Being an Affiliate Marketer

Affiliate Marketing has become one of the most effective ways to advertise on line. It is also one of the easiest ways for anyone with a website to make a profit on line. Affiliate Marketing is an agreement between a merchant and a website owner. The website owner, or the Affiliate, allows the use of their site for the promotion of the merchant's products by linking to the merchant's website. In exchange, the merchant pays a commission to the Affiliate on all sales generated by the Affiliate. Every time someone clicks on the link on the Affiliate website and proceeds to make a purchase, the Affiliate gets a commission. The merchant will pay the Affiliate only when a customer clicks on the product link and makes a purchase.

Affiliate Marketing programs are described as a win-win situation for both the merchant and the Affiliate because of the pay-for-performance scheme. Both the merchant and the Affiliate enjoy some benefits in Affiliate Marketing. There are many benefits on the merchant's side. It gives the merchant a wider market in which to advertise a product or service. Affiliate Marketing will give the product or service the maximum exposure that it may not get with other traditional advertising techniques. The more Affiliate sites a merchant has, the higher the traffic, which can convert to sales. Affiliate Marketing is the equivalent of having an army of sales people who will do the advertising and will only get a commission if a customer purchases.

Meanwhile, since an Affiliate Marketing relationship is a win-win situation, the Affiliate also enjoys many benefits. Foremost among these is the easy way to make a profit. The Affiliate can earn by having an ad or link to the merchant's website, which prospective customers will hopefully click and proceed to make a purchase. As soon as the customer clicks on the ad on the Affiliates site, is redirected to the merchant's website and goes on to buy that particular product, the Affiliate earns a commission.

You can find Affiliate programs for every product under the sun.

Because of the global reach of the Internet, you can easily find thousands of prospects. You can intensify your advertising campaign by exploiting more aggressive and productive strategies such as viral Marketing. By attracting more prospects, you also maximize your potential to earn. Another benefit of an Affiliate Marketer is the minimal risk involved. If the product you are advertising is not making money then you can dump it and choose another. There are no long-term binding contracts tying you to products that are not making enough money.

All the same, the best benefit of being an Affiliate Marketer is the opportunity to increase your income; and you can make a profit even if Affiliate Marketing is only a sideline business. With your own Affiliate business, you can earn easily earn extra income, although you do have to exert effort and use your imagination to maximize your earning potential. Online Affiliate Marketing Business. The Ideal Business?

by Christos Varsamis

Affiliate marketing has a massive growth on the internet. According to Marketing Sherpa's "Ecommerce Benchmark Guide 2006", affiliate marketing is a $6.5 Billion Business worldwide. Cases of affiliates with home business, earning thousands of dollars per month, increase dramatically. Research estimates that affiliate marketing will explode even more in 2010, since the model of finding thousands affiliates for promoting products is becoming more appealing to the merchants.

The affiliate business model has indeed some unique advantages that they couldn't take place in other business models all together at the same time either in offline commerce or even in the e-commerce. One of the most advanced features affiliate business model has is the lack of inventory. This is very profitable for the affiliate since there is no need for investing in inventory and more important, the danger of stock remains eliminates completely.

Another advantage is the "no support" feature. The merchant deals with it, either it refers to a tangible product or not, like software for example. The affiliate has nothing to do with it. That means gain of money which can be invested in the promotion of the affiliate business.

Less cost of the business. That is the main advantage of e-commerce in general but it refers equally in affiliate marketing. No physical shop address, no warehouse and cost of the rent, actually the whole affiliate business can be applied in affiliate's residence. Plus, the need of payroll will vanish, since there will be no need for employees. In some cases all is needed is a computer and internet connection and nothing more. Case studies of affiliates doing that and succeed have been verified.

The above features lead ultimately to another advantage. It is the gain of time. The affiliate will not have to run to his or her office. All this time which can be saved for more productive labour can lead to a more lucrative business in less time scale.

The lifestyle of the business. It is the ideal way of life most people dream of. The ability to create a portable business model and control the online business, even with a laptop, worldwide is the work model most home business entrepreneurs aim to. Before few decades that was almost impossible, but today with the internet technology has become daily routine.

The Downside.

The disadvantage is that the affiliate marketer has to compromise with the fact that there will be always commissions instead of the full profit the product or service provides. There are merchants that offer generous commissions to their affiliates but they are still commissions.

Loneliness. There is no face to face human interaction. It's the affiliate with the computer and the phone line. It's a lonely business model with mental consequences sometimes. There is no dialogue with other individuals, except email communications and sometimes phone communication. It should be noted though that for some people that is considered as an advantage and not a negative feature.

Finally it is not as easy as it seems. Many myths has been spread around about "working 15 minutes per day-make 15000$ per month". Reality is far from it. It is a business which means proper planning, developing, constant advertisement and promotion, daily searching for new tools and resources to improve the business and so on. All these activities require serious amount of time, effort and some initial capital to invest. Many affiliate marketers do not follow these principals and that's why 95% of affiliate marketing businesses fail.

The online affiliate marketing industry is divided into two groups: The first is composed of super affiliates who have serious affiliate marketing business with professional website, email lists, recent website updates and extremely advanced information for their clients. These people make the 85% of the affiliate industry turnover worldwide.

The second group contains newbie affiliates, amateurs are the majority, who consider affiliate marketing as a hobby instead of business. These "businessmen" will deal with online affiliate marketing business for some time, they will start enthusiastically, but quit when they confront the first obstacle. These people, which are the majority, are in the percentage of 15% of the turnover.
