Affiliate Marketing Tips - Squidoo Explained

by Simon Akers

There are many ways of generating profits as an affiliate but the latest strategy involves using a website called Squidoo which has been attracting attention recently as it can easily be used to achieve top rankings for competitive keywords in a variety of niche markets.

Unlike many other websites, Squidoo allows you to promote products as an affiliate in a variety of different ways and there is no limit to how many pages you can create. One reason why it has become so popular is because its search engine friendly so if you create keyword rich quality content you will rank on the first page of the search engine results pages even for competitive keywords.

The process involves setting up a free account and using the simple four step process to create your own lens (web page) which will be hosted on their website. The first step is where you choose a title for your lens which should contain the keyword you want to target, the second step is where you decide to pre populate your lens or design it yourself, the third step is where you choose the link for your lens which should be a keyword phrase and you also need to select a category as well as the rating, and the fourth step is where you tag your lens with related keyword phrases.

Before you create your lens you first need to decide which market you want to target and then find a suitable product which you can promote as an affiliate. For best results you also need to find a few long tail keyword phrases that have less competition as it will be far easier and quicker to achieve top rankings (and the traffic will be more responsive).

Then you need to create your lens and you can do this by adding relevant modules. When you are setting up your lens its best to choose the option "I just want to do my own thing" on step two because you will start with a blank template and you can build your lens exactly how you want it by adding the modules that you need.

Here are a few modules that you can add to your lens:

1. Write module. This is the module that you can use to add content to your lens in the form of articles, tutorials, reviews, testimonials, etc... It allows you to use HTML code to hyperlink text or images with your affiliate links in order to promote products and earn commissions from visitors to your lens.

2. Poll module. This is the module that you can use to create an interactive poll which is very useful for finding out what your target market thinks and wants. It allows you to use HTML code to hyperlink text so if you ask visitors what their favourite product is and they click on the text you will earn a commission if they purchase it.

3. Link module. This is the module that you can use to create a list of links and explain in more detail what each website is about and how it will benefit the visitor. If you choose the Plexo option it will allow visitors to vote for which link is the most relevant with the best listed at the top (which effectively shows you the most popular product).

There are many other modules which you can add to your lens such as the Amazon module or Ebay module which you can use to display related products and share the profits with Squidoo, the You Tube module which you can use to insert videos, the RSS module which you can use to put fresh content on your page, the Guest Book module which you can use to allow other members to leave their comments, and many other different modules which you can use.

Every lens that you create will automatically have an introduction as the first module which you can use to welcome visitors to your page and explain in more detail what you have to offer. The next module which you should add is the Poll module so that you can interact with visitors and keep them interested. This should be followed up with a Write module so that you can add an article related to the topic of your lens.

You can then add any other modules which you want on your page and you can decide in which order they should appear such as a video related to your article, followed by more content, then a list of relevant links, and comments from other members at the bottom. You can also place related products from Amazon in between each module to earn more commissions.

Every lens that you create will automatically have Google Adsense ads displayed on it and you will share the profits with Squidoo just like the Amazon module and Ebay module. If you create dozens of lenses in many different niche markets using long tail keyword phrases your earnings will quickly increase.

You can easily create many different lenses by using private label articles and breaking up the content using multiple Write modules. You can then link all of your lenses together in a chain and encourage each reader to visit the next one for more information.

Another great feature on Squidoo is the top 100 rankings page which lists the lenses that generate the most traffic which is extremely useful if you want to see examples and learn how to create a successful lens and how to optimise it for best results.

If you find another lens that is related to yours and its generating a lot of traffic there is a quick way that you can piggy back on their success. All you have to do is find a successful lens that is related to yours which has the Guest Book module. This module allows visitors to leave comments and feedback about the lens and it also allows you to include a link.

A link from a successful lens which is related to yours will not only pass on some of the traffic, it will also pass on some of the page rank to your lens which will boost your rankings in the search engines. This is a quick and easy way to start generating traffic with your lens.

If you use blogs, forums, or article directories you can link to your lens to help generate more traffic and improve your rankings on Squidoo and in the search engines. If you don't currently have a website and you are using your lens as your home page you should send as much traffic as you can to it.

As well as this you can also add a subscription form to your lens using IFRAME code if you want to collect leads and start building your own opt in list. Again, this is extremely useful if you don't have your own website yet and you want to have your own home page on Squidoo for free.

As more people realise the power of Squidoo its becoming increasingly popular especially with internet marketers. If you want to take advantage of this opportunity you need to create a free account and capture as many keyword phrases as you can before they are taken.

A Short Guide To Affiliate Marketing And Residual Income

by David Sharp

If you are wanting to make money working from home then an affiliate program that combines a residual income opportunity is probably the best way forward for you.

But first we have to ask "what is affiliate marketing?"

Well one of the easiest ways to make money online is to sell other peoples products or services in return for a commission. When you do this you become an affiliate for that person or company, this is what is known as affiliate marketing.

The commission rates for the products you promote vary according to what type of product you are selling. For instance if you are selling digital products, by this we mean anything that can downloaded off the internet onto a computer, can be as much as 50% up to 80%. On the other hand if you are selling a physical product that requires packing and shipping then the commissions are much lower around 4% to 10%. This lower rate is due to the fact that the merchant has much higher overheads due to all this extra work.

In view of the big difference in commissions it makes sense to concentrate on digital products when promoting other peoples products, although a mixture of both types of products would seem to be a good mix.

What is residual income?

When you make a sale of a product, whether it be digital or physical that is always cause for a celebration. However, when you've sold it, that's it, and you have to start over and sell to someone else. On the other hand, if you sold something that entailed a monthly subscription you could keep getting commissions for months or even years in the future, just on that one sale. This is what is known as residual income.

A good example of a residual income program is website hosting, when people buy a website they usually keep it hosted for a number of years and this can give you a regular monthly, quarterly or annual income. Other examples are membership sites and even online book clubs.

Affiliate Marketing and The Disabled

When I moved close to Fargo, ND in 2003 I needed a way to earn a living. I learned about affiliate marketing from my landlord and friend. I have multiple sclerosis which isn't getting any better. I'd been married to a woman from North Dakota for 9 years and we had a son. When we divorced she moved back home and my son went with her. It didn't really matter to me where I lived because I had quit my cell phone sales job at the end of 2002 and my health was getting worse. I had very few ties left with the Minneapolis area. All of my friends had gotten married or moved away and had lives of their own.

I didn't want my son growing up without me so I moved to ND in September of 2003. Now, I'm 20 minutes from where my son lives and I can see him 2 or 3 times per week. In the past year I've really learned what it means to be disabled. I can barely walk and I need my electric scooter 100% of the time when I go outside. I rely on my walker for balance and help with my walking indoors.

My landlord and friend in ND was a former employee of Microsoft in Fargo. He's the person that first told me about affiliate marketing. In 2004 I started learning slowly about affiliate marketing, google, adsense, gurus and home based businesses. I signed up to be an affiliate for about 20 products. However, I still had rental houses in Minneapolis so I was spending a lot of time managing them from 250 miles away. It wasn't until mid 2006 that my plate had cleared enough so I could start seriously looking at affiliate marketing as a way to make a living. The thing I learned quickly is that 20 products is way too many to manage. I would suggest 2 or 3. That is a manageable amount.

I would be the first to admit that I struggled with affiliate marketing so I became discouraged. I have cognitive problems with my MS and it seems when things get confusing or hard to comprehend it's easier to just quit or run the other way! When I first started affiliating I was trying to understand mailing lists, autoresponders, sales letters, article writing and everything else. My brain was overloaded! Then I found Plug In Profits! It seemed like everything fell into place. That is a great product and I highly recommend it to anyone! That link is listed below in the resource box.

Two good things that I did do in 2005 and 2006 concerning affiliate marketing were these. First, I built a website called Disabiz. The word Disabiz is short for disabled businesses. With the social security system up in the air I thought it would be a good idea to show other disabled people how to make money on the internet. The second good thing I did during those two years was write an e-book. It chronicles my life and how it has changed in the past 16 years since my diagnosis. It's called I'll Run Again In Heaven and details my life from college until the present. I finished my e-book in the spring 2007 and I'm now selling it online.

I've listed 4 affiliate products on Disabiz that I really like and they will make some money for anyone. They are all under $100 to start. On my website I also talk about ezine article writing, places to advertise your affiliate products, my MS and I also have an excerpt from my ebook there. So all in all I'm very pleased with affiliate marketing. I think if my MS progresses like it has been I feel confident that I can still earn a decent living working from home.

Jon L. Wegner lives close to Fargo, ND after being a lifelong Minnesotan. He's disabled with multiple sclerosis. Jon is making a living on the internet. You can find his website and e-book at http://www.disabiz.com His top affiliate program is at http://www.scooterjon.com/pips.html If you'd like to get on Jon's newsletter list you can go to http://www.disabiz.com/home/runinheaven.php

Affiliate Marketing - The Good, The Bad And The Ugly Way To Make Money Online

Affiliate Marketing holds the greatest potential to make money online, however, it is also the trickiest segment to master. By far the best way to conduct affiliate marketing is with a Web Site.

Affiliate Marketing is simply being paid to advertise and get customers to visit and hopefully purchase, sign up or perform some worthwhile action on a sellers website. There are literally thousands of sellers for which you can advertise in every sector of commerce. Such a diverse client base also means a diverse payment structure , everything from a penny per click to hundreds of dollars per sale.

The actual process of tracking affiliate leads is a complex one and therefore most companies usually use a third party to handle the tracking and payments. There are many such marketing companies, but some of the best are undoubtedly

Commision Junction and LinkShare.com
These two are by no means the only marketing companies (see below), however they carry more common household brands like Walmart, Staples, HP etc.

These are a few of the others, some support links for email marketing: Clickbank, excellent starting point for new or email publishers. Affiliate Future, ClixGalore, ROI Rocket, Ideal Revenue

To find out if your favorite store or website has an affiliate program, simply google their name followed by "affiliate program" below, this usually confirms if they operate a scheme and through whom.

So how does it work?

This is the real beauty of these third party marketing companies, they actually provide you with a choice of banners or links to add to your site, the code for these includes all of your tracking information, so that when a customers accesses their site via your site and buys something, you get paid a commission. Once your commissions reach a certain level, you receive a cheque.

Affiliate Marketing: The hard bit...

If you have already signed up with any of the above services, chances are that you will now have a few hundred links. This is the biggest mistake made by most affiliate marketers. The trick to successful affiliate marketing is "QUALITY NOT QUANTITY!". Your aim is after all to firstly get people to

visit your site
Find something useful on your site
Buy it!
& Come back again!

This is a hard lesson to learn, but an incredibly valuable one (Trust US on this one!). To see various examples of how to implement affialiate programs visit our site at http://www.21stcs.ca.

So, that's what you need to do , how do you do it?

Just as in "Real Life", there is no magic formula that can make someone buy something from you, however, there is lots you can do to improve your chances Sell what you know and know what you sell : It is a lot easier to endorse something that you actually enjoy, so for instance, if you like golf, make a website for the golfer with product comparisons, news and of course links all targeted to golf.

Focus: Once you decide on a chosen area stick with it, it's very easy to drift and start putting in links to vaguely related products ... DON'T, if this starts to happen, design another site to accomodate these new products or services.

Content: Remember, "QUALITY not QUANTITY", ensure that your site has some worthwhile content, these days this doen't even have to be yours, look into RSS feeds. This will enure not only happy customers who will return but happy search engines too. Check out the vendor: If you're serious and follw the first two steps, you'll probably have something that looks and feels the way you want it, make sure that the links meet the same standards.

Go forth and multiply...Once you have one successful site, pick a new topic and do it all again ... and again ... and again! - Quality IN Quantity!

That is it in a nutshell, What links you use and how you use them, is down to you. There is actually one other thing that you will need to succeed ...Patience! These are not get rich quick schemes (although they can be), but if you take your time and follow these guidelines, you never know, you just might make some money!

Unmastering Affiliate Tactics- How I Unlearned What the Experts Taught Me

It started innocently enough. I dived into the world of affiliate sales because I was looking for some extra income to support my other, non-income generating, websites. There was no aspiration to make thousands a day, or find the ultimate wealth system. So when my friend told me that he had the perfect system for my relatively low ambitions, it seemed like a reasonable proposition.

He said, "Open up a Google Adwords account and a Clickbank account and carefully craft ads pointing to Clickbank products." He went further and handed me a campaign, product, keywords, bids and ad variations, that he had used himself successfully.

While I generated sales running his campaign, I never made a profit or came close to breaking even. At that point, I went in search of better information.

If you are diligent, there are any number of products right on Clickbank that will offer you the perfect affiliate strategy. The problem is, they inherently appeal to your greed, offer a lot of verbiage for minimal content, and let's face it, there is a lot of conflicting advice to be found. So I decided right away on a few tactics. 1) I was not going to spend $47, $97, or $147 for how-to e-books with master resell rights. 2) I was going to sign up for every free newsletter from their squeeze pages and read through their e-mail newsletters to divine whatever I could divine about affiliate strategy.

It proved to be an enlightening mission, even if my yahoo account now gets a solid forty e-mails a day from marketers. But for all the months I spent reading up on the tactics for driving traffic, making conversions and exploiting Adwords, it reached the point where I was aware of so many divergent possibilities that I couldn't sort through it all. And I still wasn't earning any profit.

So I decided I had to unmaster everything I had learned from the experts and start from scratch. Here's what I untaught myself.

1) Adwords can drive conversions
There is a notion out there that if you're creative enough, you can identify keywords with marginal advertiser competition but high search volume. But this strategy completely ignores the entire problem with pay-per-click advertising, which is that more clicks does not equal more sales conversions.

There is a critical mass, especially with products with master resell rights, that means your competition is trying just as hard as you to find creative ways to advertise. Your only solution with Adwords then is to be at the top of the search results, which is expensive if you intend to pay for it, and no more directed at bringing in quality traffic than creative search terms.

2) I can write an e-book myself, and probably should
Just about every marketer will tell you to sell your own product, but that is the most unnecessary and unjustifiable advice they can offer for two reasons. For one, it's never simply as easy as taking what you know about something and trying to write a convincing and worthwhile book. Just like someone can't build you a website and expect you to know how to generate sales from it. I have seen a few of these offers to create your very own sales portal but it is just a website with links to products. You still have to find some way to not only drive traffic to that webpage, but convince people to buy from that webpage.

But more importantly, the truth is that most niche e-books don't sell in overwhelming quantities. Because unless you're writing about something that a lot of people are interested in, there won't be an enormous rush to read it, much less buy it from you or your affiliates.

3) Traffic equals sales, just play the percentages
Banner swaps, pop-ups, pop-unders and other traffic generators all sound very enticing for encouraging people to your sales page because you figure if you swirl enough traffic through your url, you are bound to make a reasonable percentage of sales just on the sheer volume of visitors.

But this completely conflicts with the underlying structure of the internet. People search for a specific subject, keyword or answer to a question. Once that need is satisfied, they're done surfing. So if that is the case, why on earth would your invest in random, purposeless traffic just in order to make your visitor statistics look good. That kind of traffic is rarely profitable.

Through all of this unlearning though, I'm like you, I don't necessarily know what the correct answer is. But knowing that affiliate sales takes a lot of determination and experimentation, and a heck of a lot of patience, to have any quantifiable success means I can't rely solely on the advice the experts want to sell me. Knowing what not to do doesn't seem to hurt either.

Four Sure Win Way to Increase Affiliate Revenue

If you'd like to increase your long-term affiliate income then I think you'll enjoy this article. It can sometimes get overwhelming when you're trying to build a profitable online business no matter how much experience you have.

Most affiliates are continously searching for more effective methods to maximize their income. That's why I am going to outline the most effective methods that super affiliates are using to market their products.

1.) Create a Minisite.

Yes, a minisite! It's a simple website that pre-sells the product. You might think this is redundant since there is a main site that says everything anyway, but trust me this works. The other MAJOR advantage is it also allows you to collect an opt-in before the person exits from your site. Good affiliates use this as an opportunity to follow up with these people who have expressed an interest in their products

2.) Write YOUR PERSONAL ENDORSEMENT!

On this site, don't talk about how great the product is. Charles "Tremendous" Jones said, "Never give a point without a story and never tell a story without a point." You see, people want to know how it worked for you and how it may work for them. So by hearing your story, they begin to visualize and relate to your situation. Both increase your odds of them buying the product.

3.) Create a Mailing list!

Yes, I know this sounds like a lot of work, but in this case, a little bit of extra effort can pay dividends many times. Creating your own mailing list is an investment for today, tomorrow and every other day that follows. It gives you control and maximizes every effort you put forth in promoting any product because now you have an opportunity to communicate with these people over and over. Instead of always relying on new people clicking on your links you now have an opportunity to sell more products to the same people who have already expressed an interest. It's much more effective and the sales process is actually easier in the long-run. So take a few minutes and think of something you can offer them in exchange for their Name and Email Address. Here are some quick ideas...Free Report - it could outline advanced strategies when using the product. A Demonstration Video - this gives people a "behind-the-scenes" look before they buy.

4.) Follow-up With Your Prospects.

This is all handled by an autoresponder anyway so as soon as you do it once, you can then forget about it. The easiest way to create a dynamite follow-up sequence is to just reiterate the main points expressed on the salesletter. It's fast, it's easy and it's effective. Just make sure to always include your affiliate link in every message!

What you need to know here is how to create a squeeze page (miniset that people can opt-in by providing email, name and contact no.) If you know basic html programming, you can use Microsoft Frontpage or use a free editor like Morzilla to create your miniset or another free software PageBreeze that functions like Frontpage.

You need to get a domain name which is akin to traditional business address. You need to get a web host to host your web which is akin to renting a location for your traditional business. You need an autoresponder to capture your opt-ins and a automatic email manager to send out emails to your opt-in regularly.

Critical Steps to Online Success-Step by Step Plan-How to Find and Register for Affiliate Programs

As I said in an earlier article, starting with an "Affiliate Network" is an easy way to get started as an affiliate. You first need to register with each of the networks you choose.

The largest are:

Commission Junction: http://cj.com/

Linkshare: http://linkshare.com/

Performics: http://performics.com/

Click Bank: http://clickbank.com/index.html

What are the actual Steps to get started as an affiliate?

Let's look at one program that's really easy and is also a superb "How To" manual on Affiliate Marketing: Rosalind Gardner's "Super Affiliate Handbook"

Go to this site to work through this example with me.

http://www.super-affiliate-plan.com

Just copy and paste the link above into your browser and it will take you to the Super Affiliate Sales Page.

Once there you will see a navigation bar across the top which says:

Home | Order Now! | Make Money

If you click on "Make Money" you will be taken to the "Affiliates Page" where you have the opportunity to join this program as an affiliate.

But before you do that you need to sign up and get your "Click Bank" account opened and you will find a link to do this as you scroll down the page. Once you have a "Clickbank Nickname" you enter your nickname and generate your affiliate promotions link.

You then create a sales page for this program, put the included "HTML Code" on your page, insert your "affiliate promotions link" and you're set to go as an affiliate

Now, if you just want to register with "Clickbank" straight away, here's how you register:

You open their site at http://www.clickbank.com/index.html and click on the "Become an Affiliate" link, which you will find in the left hand column. You then click on "Sign up" and fill in the simple form and "voila" you're a registered member.

At the top of the page you'll see the Navigation Bar.

Home | Sign Up | Marketplace | My Account

Click on My Account and enter the Member's zone.

Once again go to the Nav Bar and click "Marketplace" and your ready to start looking around and choosing some programs to work with.

Keep on winning

Believe it or not, this is a more common question that I am asked from people who are brand new to Internet business. I have tested both ways, talked to a lot of people and have come to a few conclusions with this question, so it will not be an easy "yes or no" answer.

However, most of the time I will answer this question - No, it is usually not a good idea to combine affiliate products on a drop ship site. Mainly because the profit on affiliate products are so low compared to the money you can make actually selling the product from a supplier.

Reasons Why Not To:

* Profit Potential - You can make more money selling the product from a supplier.

* Shopping Cart Confusion - What happens when someone gets done adding some of your product (that you do dropship) that is built into the shopping cart, and they want to add the product that is an affiliate? It could cause some major shopping cart headaches for users, and confuse them, and they will probably just end up leaving for another site.

* De-Value Your Site - There are a lot of smart shoppers these days who know what ads and affiliates are. If they feel you are trying to do anything other then sell the your "main" products they may wonder about the validity of your site. You do not want to scare people away.

* Navigates People Away From Your Site - Lets say you have an Amazon affiliate product on your site that you are making 3-5% on, and the item that was clicked on (which takes them off your site) was only a 5 dollar item. Is it worth losing the customer over a few cents commission?

Reasons Why You Might:

* Can't Find A Product Supplier - If you have searched high and low, and can't find a supplier, but the affiliate product goes perfect with other things you are selling, then it might be a good idea to have it on your site.

* Amazon Product Review Pages - People are always looking for reviews of products, and lots done by other users of the sites they are familiar with. You can create pages inside Amazon showing reviews of the affiliate products you are selling, and link to them. This provides great information, but can also lead people back to the places that end up making you money - your affiliate pages!

* Ease and Simplicity - I have seen enough people try to create websites and use shopping carts to know that not everyone is on the same playing field. Sometimes using a system that Amazon has in place to sell affiliate products is easier then creating a shopping cart website from scratch that can sell both regular products and affiliate products.

The reasons "why you might" (for me) are not always as convincing, and I usually don't end up selling affiliate products on the same site that I sell regular products that are dropshipped. Again, for me it has usually ended up unfavorable and I try to stay away from it, but I do understand certain situations where it could be beneficial. You just have to evaluate the situation and ask yourself if it ads value to your customer, or is it going to lose you money, and navigate people away from your site (before making you any real money).

Matt Siltala has been doing business online since 1999 and has many people set up dropshipping business correctly. Matt Siltala is deeply involved with dropshipper product souring databases like The Shipper, and wants to provide as much education as possible before people waste any money in un-needed areas.

Practicing Caution With Your Affiiliate Programs

Affiliate Marketing is a great program. It provides those who want it with the means to set up their own home business. As an affiliate, you do work for another but you are rewarded for your work. The money you make is based on your individual performance not an hourly or yearly salary. Affiliate marketing provides many incentives to work harder and more efficiently. The harder and better you work, the more monetary success you are likely to see. Affiliate marketing also reduces the amount of risk. The main company handles the advertising and creation of the product allowing you to move the product in what ever way you think best.

One does need to be cautious in the field of affiliate marketing. For every great, legitimate opportunity out there, there are more ready to con. The internet has made it quite easy for these con artists to operate and even thrive.

Before you Plunge head first into the field on affiliate marketing you should do some checking. A general rule of thumb is to never do business with anyone that doesn’t have a fixed address and telephone number. If all they have to offer is an email address then look for another company. Doing business only by email is very dangerous. It makes it far too easy for these con artists to slip away and never be heard from again. Unfortunately, when they slip away it is likely with your money or earnings.

If you find a company that you are interested in then check the start up costs. These should be minimal if any at all. Ask is there is a way to pay back the start up costs through your sales commission. Most are willing to do this. However, if there seems to be a lot of initial money that needs to be paid by you then find something else. The chances are good that they will take your money and run, leaving you with worthless product.

Finally, ask what support you will receive if you agree to become part of their affiliate marketing plan. There should be someone there to guide you through the process and answer any questions that you have. They should also offer you advice on how best to market their product. It is up to you in the ends but they should offer you some stat up ideas. If their legitimate company they should want to help you all they can. They more you are able to sell the greater benefit for them as well.

You should keep in mind that affiliate marketing takes a of work. It is like any other business except that the risk to you is much lower. Ignore companies that promise huge salaries with little effort, it just won’t happen. Many people make great successes with affiliate marketing programs. However, they do work incredibly hard. However the rewards come when the hard work pays off. You’re the one that will reap the rewards, not your boss.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to start working for yourself. With lots of hard work and creativity you could be well on your way to great earnings doing something that you enjoy. It won’t be easy and in the beginning you’ll have to work harder then you ever did in a full-time job. But if you’re driven it will all be worth it in the end.

Affiliate Marketing Tips

Today, many of us want to pack up our jobs and be our own bosses. The idea of working for you attracts many. However, the reality of making it happen soon stops most. In fact the vast majority of us cannot get a business off the ground due to 2 main factors:

1. Money
2. Risk

Starting even a small business takes a fair amount of money. You need to buy or rent premises, purchase your stock and equipment and pay staff if you have them. You will also have other outside expenses such as advertising.

Risk is the factor that kills most businesses off. Even if you’re lucky enough to get the capital to start, nearly 85% of all small businesses fail in the first year. If yours is one of the lucky ones, you have to keep reinvesting your time and money to build up the businesses reputation. It could be anywhere from 4-6 years before any significant profit is seen. Most of us cannot wait that long which is what makes affiliate marketing such an attractive offer.

Affiliate marketing involves you, working as an affiliate for a merchant or company. You sell either goods or services and you’re paid on how much you produce. There are no costs and no risk. You put in what you choose and are rewarded accordingly.

Running an affiliate marketing business is challenging. You’ll have to work very hard to build it up. However, you’ll be rewarded for your hard work not someone else. Getting an affiliate marketing program going may seem difficult. The truth is it is down to you and how much you want to put in. There is no sure fire way to success but there are some good tips that you can follow to make you affiliate marketing scheme as successful as possible.

When starting out, you'll need to be willing to keep your eyes and ears open, using the experience of others to learn more as you go. Learn from people, who has already been through the whole affiliate business, and already know what techniques works and what don’t.

2. Invest time and effort

The second quality you must have is the willingness to invest time and effort in helping your business grow, even if you don't see immediate results. Affiliate Business is like another other business, it takes time to get the great results. Therefore invest the necessary time in the business, and you will suddenly begin to see the great results.

3. Determination

The third quality you'll need is determination. If you want to make it in the world of affiliate marketing, you must possess to push yourself forward. Lack of determination is often where a lot of others fail in the affiliate business. The ability to push yourself to greater determination will often be one of the key issues between failure and success.

4. Discipline and structure

The fourth quality is self discipline and structure in the way You are working. If you teach yourself to work everyday with all of your heart and soul, you'll be that much closer to reaching your goals and making your dreams come true.

5. Optimism

The last quality you must have is optimism and believing with the things you are working with. Bad attitudes should never discourage an affiliate marketer from pursuing their dreams in order to make life better for themselves or anyone around them.

PPC stands for Pay Per Click advertising. MSN, Google, and Yahoo all allow PPC advertising. PPC advertising allows you to instantly be seen in the search engines. It does add some cost to your promotions. But, there are few ebooks available to help reduce your costs.

Building Affilate Downline - Read This Before Going Online

Now that I know why I need a downline, how do I get one of these?

Previously I spoke of a downline and the importance of demonstrating leadership to the people in that downline. Now that we have established the importance of the downline let’s talk about building one.

There are many ways to generate interest in any product that you are representing. You can stand in rush our traffic with a sandwich board touting the virtues of your product, you can take out an advertisement in the New York Times, or you can buy a commercial during the Super Bowl. None of these are real solutions to quality advertising. The simplest and most effective method is word of mouth. As in my last article I wrote about a restaurant or auto service station receiving effective advertising from me just because I believed in their products and services. That is the most effective means of getting the word out.

But most of us feel intrusive by talking to family, friends and coworkers about a great company and opportunity. There is always the nagging feeling that if they fail at it or I fail at it what will they say. (by the way, the sooner you get over that feeling the better). Why would you not want to share any opportunity with people you love, respect or socialize with. I have always exposed my family to all the opportunities that I am excited about, how many have started, none. How many have expected large Christmas presents when I am on top, all.

OK so now You have to look at the best places to find people. You are not looking for “anybody” or “everybody”, You are most likely looking for people a lot like ourselves, people that can spot an opportunity and run with it. So where are these people, closer than you think. Placing a small classified ad in a few newspapers can generate huge responses. Flashy half and full page ads are for the people that are building name recognition, these are definitely not for you. If you have the money for this type of advertising, let me know, you need a financial planner not an opportunity. Basically the two or three line classified ad appeals to the opportunist.

Lead generating companies. This is a tricky subject. Please be aware that there are unscrupulous operators out there that just want your money and don’t care about SPAM. If there are no date time stamps and IP addresses that they will send you do not use them even if they say they are double, triple or even a billion “opt-in”. I would recommend a company called Lead Power.com and only purchase telephone verified leads. What this means is that they use their time and effort to call the lead first. I can tell you from experience that when you purchase 100 leads you are doing great if you can contact between 30-50%. So let them do the work for you. Then when you call the lead is expecting a call within the next few hours. Plan to call them as soon as they are e-mailed to you. Have a time of day you work your business and stick to it.

6 Mistakes Made by Unsuccessful Affiliate Marketers

by Scott Roy

Affiliate marketing can be a lucrative work-at-home business opportunity if you do it right. Unfortunately too many beginners and even some more experienced affiliates tend to make some core mistakes that hinder their ability to earn an income. In this article I will discuss six mistakes you should avoid if you want to be a successful affiliate.

1) Waiting Too Long to Put Up Your Site

Many affiliates fall into the trap of fixing and tweaking their website and waiting too long to make it live. I was certainly guilty of this when I first started affiliate marketing. In building my affiliate website I would constantly be adding pages that I might need in the future and tweaking content that I'd already written. Meanwhile, no one was visiting my site because I hadn't put it up yet. Now I'm not suggesting you quickly put up a bad site, but you should establish early what your basic website requirements are, and put the site up once they are met. After that, you can continue to work on it while people are visiting and your search engine rankings are building.

2) Thinking that Your Website is Complete

Once you have your site up and it is just the way you like it then it's done right? Wrong! You must constantly be adding new content and updating the site. Search engines like Google prefer sites that update their content regularly and will come back to them often for indexing. If a website is static for too long it can begin to drop its search engine ranking for your keywords. Moreover, if your content never changes, there is no encouragement for people to revisit your website. In both cases, visitor counts will drop resulting in fewer people clicking your ads, converting to leads, and making you money. Remember, your site is never complete.

3) Joining the Wrong Affiliate Program

There are literally thousands upon thousands of merchants with affiliate programs. It is up to you to find merchants with products that relate to your website's content. For example, if your website is about gardening, then having banner ads that read 'Web Hosting at Great Prices' probably won't get many clicks. Why? Because most gardeners visiting a gardening website really don't care about web hosting at that time. In comparison, if you have an ad reading 'Gardening Tools at Great Prices' you are more accurately targeting your visitors and as a result will get more clicks.

4) No AdSense on Your Site

Lots of affiliates fail to use Google AdSense on their websites. I know first hand that you can earn massive amounts of money by simply putting a snippet of code on your site! If you aren't familiar with AdSense, it is an advertising technique developed by Google that allows them to place targeted ads next to your content. It's free to join and when someone clicks one of these ads, the advertiser pays you for the click.

5) Failing to Promote Your Affiliate Website

Too many affiliate marketers put together their website to promote merchant products but don't actively try to get new visitors. Unfortunately, the old adage, "Build it and they will come" most definitely does not refer to websites. A lot of time must be spent promoting your affiliate website so that you always have visitors coming to your site and buying the products you are promoting.

Concentrate on getting your website's link included on websites, preferably those with a high page rank. Join forums, make helpful posts, and have a link to your site in the signature. Write articles relevant to your website and include your link in your bio. Join Google AdWords to have your ad show up for targeted search results and thousands of sites related to your content. Whatever techniques you use, just make sure you promote.

6) Spreading Yourself Too Thin

I have heard some affiliates say that they have lots of sites and none of them are making any money. So what do they do? They make another site in hopes that it will be the one that works. Some people have different views on this but I would recommend only running a few sites but running them well. Make sure you give yourself enough time to properly make, maintain, and market your site. If you run 40 websites then you can only spend 1 hour/week on each. This isn't enough time to do anything productive. If you only have 4 websites then you can spend a full 10 hours/week maintaining and marketing them which will result in far more visits.

In Conclusion ...

By avoiding the six mistakes I've discussed in this article, you are more likely to succeed in your efforts as an affiliate marketer. In no time flat, you'll be making the kind of money that will allow you to quit your job and work-at-home full time. Best of luck!

What Is An Affiliate Network

by Jonathon White

An Affiliate Network is a valve added online media program that provides services that include aggregation, distribution or many creative materials and campaigns that are used for tracking and reporting for the affiliate merchants and affiliates. For merchants, some these services can provide tracking, reporting tools, a payment processing and access to a large base of affiliates. These services can have one click application for new merchants as well as reporting tools and payment aggregation.

These networks are free to sign up but can be hard to find if you don't where to look. They aren't always called affiliate networks they are also known as marketing solutions provider or pay for performance network, cost per action advertising networks or performance based online marketing services company.

These types of programs can provide such services as Pay Per Lead, Pay Per Sale, Pay Per Action or Cost Per Action and Pay Per Click. Most affiliates allow anyone to sign up but there may a visitor site requirement. These companies may want a specific number of people to visit your site to make it worth it for them to give you some ads.

To begin making money from an affiliate programs is to locate an affiliate program and join with the network or program. Most programs will give you approval right away so if you are approved then you will be shown a list of all affiliate programs that the network has available and then you can begin looking the hundreds of programs that are offered. You want to choose the programs that have the best payouts. Find the ads that go with the content of your site and then choose the ads that have the best payment percentage.

Choose carefully, sometimes the programs that you choose may have a high pay out but they really aren't in sync with your content, you may not get that many clicks, but you may have a lower payment program that fit exactly what you are doing in your site but it may take longer to accrue a big payment.

If your site is not a product or service selling and you rely on adsense to make money then you want to choose wisely your affiliates. These do pay well when they get the traffic and the interest then people will click on the ads.

Jonathon White has been involved in all types of affiliate marketing for well over 6 years and has an affiliate programs directory named Affiliate Seeking that lists well over 1,700 affiliate programs and over 100 affiliate networks .

An Introduction To Making Money With Affiliate Programs

by Boone Swann

If you are interested in making money online but you don't have the money to invest in products, then affiliate marketing programs may be a very good option for you. This is the process of selling products for other people. In exchange you will earn a good commission on each item that you sell. For the best results, don't sell products that retail for less than $20. You simply won't make enough money on these low priced products to be worth your time.

Take some time to research the various affiliate programs that are available. You can type this into any search engine and find plenty of quality material. Then take the information you find and do some independent research on the various affiliate programs. Many of them are quite reputable. You also want to look for programs that offer you a good commission. This should be 20% or more. Of course the products with a higher commission are those that are often the most difficult to sell.

You also want to research the various products you will be promoting. After all, how can you really give a passionate marketing spin on it when you have never used it? Look for products to market that you know something about. This way you can add your own personal ideas, thoughts, and expertise in the area.

Some of the most profitable affiliate program products right now are e-books. You can digitally access them and consumers love the instant gratification. As soon as the payment is made the product can be obtained. Look for e-books that explain how to do something or offer to share inside knowledge of a trendy field.

When it comes to affiliate programs you will need to have some good marketing strategies in place. This way you will get recognized on the search engines. There are plenty of marketing methods you can implement. It is recommended you have more than one in place to ensure you have a successful affiliate program.

Setting up an informative newsletter than offers reviews on various products is a great way to get attention and sell products under your affiliate program. It will help build a quality relationship between you and your consumers. Writing articles and posting them on various sites with a link to your affiliate program is also very effective.

It is a good idea to cloak your links so that consumers don't realize your site is an affiliate link. It is a good idea to have as many links available as possible so that you get plenty of traffic to your sites. Make sure that the information you offer directs them to the web page that has more on what they were looking at. It is a very common mistake to link everyone to the home page. Yet most consumers won't take the time to look around if they aren't taken to the exactly location.

It is very possible to make good money with affiliate programs if you choose the right products, implement marketing strategies, and build strong relationships with your customers. The quality of the products you sell as well as the relationships you build will play a huge role in the success of your affiliate marketing strategies.

Affiliate Marketing Tips

by Morten Hansen

Today, many of us want to pack up our jobs and be our own bosses. The idea of working for you attracts many. However, the reality of making it happen soon stops most. In fact the vast majority of us cannot get a business off the ground due to 2 main factors:

1. Money
2. Risk

Starting even a small business takes a fair amount of money. You need to buy or rent premises, purchase your stock and equipment and pay staff if you have them. You will also have other outside expenses such as advertising. Risk is the factor that kills most businesses off. Even if you're lucky enough to get the capital to start, nearly 85% of all small businesses fail in the first year.

You sell either goods or services and you're paid on how much you produce. There are no costs and no risk. You put in what you choose and are rewarded accordingly.

Running an affiliate marketing business is challenging. You'll have to work very hard to build it up. However, you'll be rewarded for your hard work not someone else. Getting an affiliate marketing program going may seem difficult. The truth is it is down to you and how much you want to put in. There is no sure fire way to success but there are some good tips that you can follow to make you affiliate marketing scheme as successful as possible.

1. Desire to learn

The first quality you must possess is the desire to learn, coupled with the willingness to be trained. Treading through unfamiliar territory is tough indeed, especially if your lacking the right knowledge. This is a combination of the right frame of mind, coupled with a strong work ethic.

When starting out, you'll need to be willing to keep your eyes and ears open, using the experience of others to learn more as you go. Learn from people, who has already been through the whole affiliate business, and already know what techniques works and what don't.

Top 7 Tips To Become A Super Affiliate Marketer

Affiliate Marketing is a billion dollar internet marketing business where new affiliate marketers are joining everyday. Some choose it as a part time job and others leave their day job and opt it as a full time profession. But one cannot understand why some affiliate marketers get most of the basket while others struggle to earn their first dollar even after considerable time and effort.

Some say that 95% of the affiliate marketing business is shared by 5% of super affiliates. So what is the specialty of super affiliates? How they differ from the normal affiliate marketers? These are the questions that shoot up in the mind. Let me put the top 7 tips that clearly emphasize the secrets of super affiliates.

1.Test The Product:

Before promoting any product/service you need to purchase and test the product. Without using the product, you cannot give your honest opinion about the product. You can sell the product better when you personally list out the pros and cons of the product.

2.Have Faith In The Product:

Do not promote the product just for the sake of earning commission. Have faith in the product. Live testimonials do provide a good base for faith in the product. When you personally recommend a product, there is a greater chance that that a shopper buys the product with more confidence.

3.Sell Through Authority Source:

Get a website and promote the products with authority. Some prefer to sell the products through classified ads and PPC ads redirecting the visitor to the vendor’s site. But a powerful landing page of your website could authenticate the sale.

4.Get Interacted With The Merchant:

Merchant or vendor interaction could be more fruitful in affiliate marketing. Some merchants interact with the affiliates through the forums thereby providing useful inputs to have a greater success rate in promoting the affiliate products.

5.Promotion through Advertising Mix:

Promote the affiliate products with a varied advertising mix. Do not limit yourself to a single method. Test and track the results of the advertising methods. Some affiliates are of the opinion that only Google Adwords is top converting PPC. But they should not forget that Yahoo and MSN’s PPC ads are available at much cheaper prices for the same keyword. What is important is a higher ROI at the end.

6.Ask For The Feedback And Provide Support:

It is a good practice to ask for a feedback regarding the product or the service rendered. Make a feedback form at the bottom of the website. This gives the impression that the affiliate is really interested in the visitor’s experience. Moreover one should make a habit that if the support is needed; you should provide it at the earliest through email or on phone.

7.Publish Newsletters:

Collect and save the email address of the visitors on a simple Microsoft excel sheet or notepad. You can publish newsletters to remind them to make a purchase or send them the related information. This type of reminding through newsletters will develop a relationship with your subscribers to make a repetitive purchase.

5 Personality Traits of a Super Affiliate

An overwhelming number of people are flocking to the internet to get their share of the online riches. One of the most popular business ventures for work at home beginners is affiliate marketing. With no boss, no deadlines and no stock to deal with, the popularity of affiliate marketing continues to grow. With so much attractive appeal one would think that just about everyone can succeed at affiliate marketing. However, only 20 percent of people doing affiliate marketing are successful and all of them have these 5 qualities.

1. Investing themselves
With any task you must invest the time and effort that is needed to make it work. If you are not invested in your business, don’t expect it to grow. Floods of money will not be pouring into your account in the beginning of your affiliate marketing journey. And like every journey it’s the little day to day steps that truly make the difference.

2. Willing to learn
Affiliate marketing is applied knowledge. In order to apply the steps used by the masters, you must first be willing to learn the steps. While many people do invest time and effort in building their business very few take time to learn how to build a successful business from scratch. There are several ways an affiliate can get lost in the industry and fail but there are also many ways for an affiliate to succeed. This is done by keeping an open mind and welcoming ideas and suggestions given to you by those who have a firm understanding of the business.

3. Determination
As an affiliate marketer you must possess the ability to push yourself. 80 percent of people fail because the lack the determination to reach further, climb higher and go farther. This perhaps stems from a lack of self discipline, which brings me to quality four.

4. Discipline
All successful affiliate marketers have a strong sense of self-discipline. They are able to get themselves to take action regardless of their emotional state. Thus they are able to accomplish more in a faster period of time. Their marketing goals are not just set for the sake of having a goal, they are done deals. It is virtually guaranteed that they will follow through with every goal they set because they have made the conscious decision to do so.

5. Optimism
A positive attitude is the key to succeeding at virtually everything, including affiliate marketing. Why be optimistic? Optimism means explaining setbacks to yourself in ways that gives you resilience, strength and determination. Optimism improves your ability to succeed. Your attitude towards your business should always be good even if things are not going the way you planned.

You can be among the 20 percent of affiliate marketers who are living the net marketing dream. It starts with building theses qualities within you. They are essential to your success as an affiliate marketer.

Choosing A Profitable Affiliate Program

Affiliate programs are a great way to make money online; if you choose the right affiliate program. That it why it is extremely important that you carefully choose which affiliate program or programs you want to join. When it comes to choosing an affiliate program, do you know what to look for you? If this is your first time joining an affiliate program, you are urged to keep on reading. Below are some guidelines that you may want to think about following.

Perhaps, the most important thing that you need to remember, when choosing an affiliate program, is to not pick the first affiliate program that you come across. This is a big mistake that many affiliate program participants make. Unfortunately for you, this can be a costly mistake. What many do not realize is that the product you choose to promote will reflect on you and your business. That is why it is important that you take the time to thoroughly examine an affiliate program first. You will want to choose an affiliate program that involves a product that you can stand behind, one hundred percent.

One of the best ways to know that you are dealing with a legitimate affiliate program and a quality product is to test that product out. Although you are advised to do this, you may not want to or you may be unable to do so. If that is the case, you can still research an affiliate program or even the product that is being sold. You can easily do this online. One of the best ways to do your research is to perform a standard internet search. Search with the name of the affiliate program or the product being sold. You can also check out websites that are known as scam websites. These websites tend to profile companies, individuals, or business opportunities that regularly scam consumers.

Before applying for or signing up for an affiliate program, you are advised to read all of the rules, restrictions, or guidelines associated with that affiliate program. Unfortunately, you may find yourself disqualified from an affiliate program right off the bat. For instance, there are a large number of affiliate programs that prohibit their products from being advertised on websites that display pornography, foul language, and other offensive content. Familiarizing yourself with an affiliate program’s rules and guidelines will prevent you from being denied from a program or later dismissed from one.

Perhaps, one of the most important things to remember, when choosing an affiliate program, is the product that you will have to sell. In conjunction with making sure that the product is a quality one, you will also want to make sure that it is related to your website or business, in one way or another. For instance, if your own website focuses on computer programming, you will not want to join an affiliate program that sells pet products. Joining an affiliate program that is related, in one way or another, to your own website may increase your chances of making a sale; thus increasing your profits.

Although it is important to choose a quality product to stand behind, you also need to remember that your goal is to make money. One of the easiest ways to make a substantial amount of money is to choose an affiliate program that pays their affiliates decently. The average commission for affiliates is three to five percent of each sale made. While this is a good percentage to make, there are higher paying affiliate programs. You may want to look for affiliate programs that pay around ten percent. In fact, there are even a select number of affiliate programs that pay around fifteen percent in commissions.

The above mentioned guidelines are just a few of the many that you will want to take into consideration, when choosing an affiliate program. Although the above mentioned points are helpful, the most important thing to keep in mind is your judgment. Using your best judgment is the easiest way to choose an effective affiliate program.

What Does Content Do For The Affiliate Marketer?

As affiliate marketers we are constantly hearing that we should provide good content. So, a natural question is: why? What does content do? Below are a few things that good content will accomplish for you:

1. It will help generate traffic to your web site or blog.

If someone reads an article that you have written and it has good content, they will likely be more incline to see what else your have to say. So, maybe they will click thru to your web site or blog.

If you are sending out the information as part of your autoresponder series or as a part of your newsletter/ezine, again, maybe the content you provide will be the incentive that will cause them to click thru to your web site or blog.

Your traffic has increased because your content held their attention and caused them to be curious about what else you have to say.

2. It increases your search engine ranking.

How? Well, if you add a new article to your web site or blog and it is original, the search engines will find it and rank you web site based on the keywords that it finds in the article.

Some marketers call this fresh content and the search engines love it. If the information is also relevant to your web site or blog, you have just created more search engine points.

The more original and relevant the content that you can put on you site or blog is, the higher your search engine rankings will be.

Your content or article should have some degree of keyword focus or density. You should use your keyword in your title and several times in the body of your article. How many? Just several, don’t overdo it.

In addition, if you select keywords that have less competition, you will enhance your chances of getting a higher listing for that keyword.

3. It keeps your readers interested.

If someone comes to your web site or blog or they read your article and they find some new and interesting content, you will have a much better opportunity of keeping them on your web site and not clicking off to something else.

If you have AdSense on your site that means that you have a better chance that they will click on one of the ads. Good content keeps them around longer, so they see more, know more about what you are presenting, and maybe they will trust you enough to purchase your affiliate program.

4. It will help you to retain your newsletter/ezine subscribers.

Every affiliate marketer wants a large list of opt-in subscribers. You work hard to build the list. One of your major goals is to retain as many subscribes as possible.

Good content is one of the major secrets to subscriber retention. If your readers like what they read and it is new and interesting, then most of them will stick around for another read.

The longer they stick around, the more opportunities you will have to present the affiliate programs that you are promoting. Promoting your affiliate programs will be more successful if you can retain your subscribers. They will learn that you will be providing them with useful content – content that will help them to be successful. Maybe they will also see that your affiliate program will help them to be successful as well. So, strive to provide good, unique content and you will be more successful in promoting affiliate programs.

Stocking Your Affiliate Toolbox

If you want to make serious money with affiliate marketing, you need to have the right set of tools. I’m not talking about hardware. I’m talking about skills and the right elements of a perfect affiliate online presence. Those are the tools you’ll use to make money as a marketer and you’ll want to have them all in your toolbox.

A contractor can’t build a new house with nothing more than a hammer and a few nails. They’ll use everything from earth-moving equipment to razor-sharp wire cutters to go from blueprint to dream house. That’s the way it is with affiliate marketing, too. Those who have all the right tools are the ones who can build something meaningful.

What kind of tools do you need? What are the must-haves for an affiliate toolbox?

First, you’ll need basic knowledge. That isn’t a big surprise. You’ll need to understand the fundamental underpinnings of affiliate marketing and you’ll want a grasp of how and why it works. Please note that I said “basic” knowledge, not “superficial” knowledge. You need to have a real understanding of they “why” questions.

Second, you’ll need to be able to choose the right product. This point can’t be overemphasized. Product and program selection are a fundamental part of successful affiliate marketing. The ability to pick smartly often separates the winners from the losers.

Third, you’ll need to master advertising. If you want to really promote a product, you’ll eventually find yourself making advertising buys. You might be spending on an Adwords campaign. You may decide to buy a few high profile links. You might want to feature a banner in a great location. You need to know how to do it and how to keep costs low.

Fourth, you’ll need to use the newest and most powerful techniques to your advantage. The web is in a constant state of flux, and those who know how to stay on top of trends are in the catbird’s seat. Social bookmarking and networking, the growing influence of blogging and a host of other developments are creating high-profit, transformative opportunities for affiliate marketers.

Fifth, you’ll need to bring the right personality to the job. You’ll need a creative spark, the courage to take action and a healthy dose of gritty determination. If you go into affiliate marketing with a willingness to learn and a desire to be proactive, you can be a success.

The affiliate marketing toolbox is stuffed with great gear, blueprints, tools, and gadgets. You’ll pick up some of the tools as you go along--experience is a great teacher. Fortunately, however, you can snag almost everything you need in one fell swoop. If you find the right resource, you can experience an avalanche of affiliate tools and knowledge directly into your toolbox right away.

Make sure you’re ready for the job. Have the right tools in place and know how to use them.

Warning - Don't Make These Mistakes as an Affiliate Marketer!

Beliefs belonging to affiliate marketing are tempting and eye-catching. People who do not know select the wrong cycle are prone to believing that it is something giving them great fortune overnight. Affiliates who earn lots of money has this image swimming in their heads, and while these accounts are as true as they can be, there are those who believe that they are going to have the same fortune

It is true enough that affiliate marketing can be financially rewarding. People who have gone through everything to be able to succeed in this business are reaping the rewards that they determinedly sowed. Many of them enjoy the existence that was not possible for them to have had under ordinary circumstances. Having gone through the grind of affiliate marketing, however, these people are the ones who know that while such business is profitable, there is no easy money in it.

Unawareness of this fact is one of the main reasons there are people who fail miserably in the internet business. There are those who believe in myths about the easy money mixed up in affiliate marketing. They do not know there are those who have wasted time, effort trying to hunt the life of ease that they believe this business will give them. And so they go into affiliate marketing armed with nothing but folklore and fanned notions of wealth rotating in their view, never realizing that they are bound to make mistakes that would prove to be their downfall.

What may be the reason in businesses such as affiliate marketing, many are called but few are chosen? Perhaps the answer lies on many affiliates who make mistakes that result from their ignorance of facts on how the entire business runs. Affiliate marketing is not as simple as promoting a merchant’s goods through his website, and getting paid for it. It is also about knowing the market and the customers.

Discovering what the most common mistakes make are, can perhaps dispel the gloom about myths surrounding affiliate marketing by correcting some wrong notions about it. It might also be able to make those concerned understand that like any other business, there are dos and don’t involved in this one if they want to make each of their steps count. The first common mistake is their lack of knowledge about principles involved in this business. This refers to the affiliate’s knowledge of search engines in particular.

Affiliate marketing involves advertising, and advertising through the internet could not have been better without the existence of search engines. What every affiliate has to do is to make these search engines his best friend through studying search engine optimization closely. This way, he is able to know what to do with building a better website to eventually use for his business.

The second is that affiliates make the mistake of stuffing their sites with ads that do not provide enough information about the product. The best way to battle this mistake is to provide good content. It is important for customers to know and understand the features of a product, and good content will be able to help them realize this goal.

The third is there are affiliates who make the mistake of promoting only one product. As a result, customers are not given enough to pick from. There is also the risk of producing fewer sales compared to having more for customers to ponder about. It is always better to give them a few better alternatives than to give them only one.

The fourth is there are affiliates who make the mistake of promoting too many products. Therefore, customers are confused and end beyond making a choice. It is perhaps good to give them only the best choices. This is because it is eventually up to them to judge which one is the best for them to shop for.

All in all, affiliates that are doomed to fail in this business are those who do not put forth enough effort to understand everything involved in the industry that they are in. Knowing their path step by careful step will prove to be worthwhile to them, as there is no other way to succeed than to go through this path.

Affiliate Marketing - The Profit Potential of Resale Rights

There are many ways to make money on the Internet; one of the most popular ones is to earn commissions through affiliate marketing. As an affiliate, you promote or advertise a product that is actually manufactured and sold by someone else. When a sale is made as a result of your promotion, you receive a portion of the purchase price. Affiliate marketing is easy to get into and can be quite lucrative. There are a number of people earning six figure incomes using this marketing technique.

While one can make a fair amount of money as an affiliate, the “big bucks” are earned by those who create their own products to sell. By creating your own product, you can enlist an army of affiliates to sell for you, and the profits can be substantial. Creating your own product isn’t for everyone, however. Doing so can involve a lot of time and effort, and some people are just not cut out for creating their own products. There is, however, a shortcut of sorts, where one can reap some of the benefits of selling their own product without having to actually create one. That shortcut is obtained through something known as resale rights.

Many products that are sold through affiliate channels, such as software or e-books, are offered for sale with resale rights. By making such a purchase, the buyer is entitled to resell the product for whatever price that he or she deems appropriate. The buyer can enlist the aid of affiliates to promote the product, and all of the net profits are theirs to keep. Obviously, the cost of acquiring a product with resale rights is higher than with a normal purchase, but the potential for handsome profits can make the higher price worthwhile.

There are literally thousands of products available for sale on the Internet that come with resale rights. Buyers need to be careful when considering such a purchase, however. Many of these products have been on the market for some time, and the marketplace may already be saturated. The most profitable products are those that are both useful and relatively new to the marketplace. Anyone considering purchasing a product for resale should do some research prior to making their purchase.

If you would like to have a product of your own to sell, but you don’t have the time, ability, or inclination to write your own e-book, you might wish consider products with resale rights. For many sellers, these types of products represent the best compromise between selling your own product and working as an affiliate for someone else.

10 Keys for Affiliate Marketing or E-book Business Success

A few years ago a secret emerged from a very successful internet business that would change the way many online approach their business. Spend 90% of your time working on marketing and only 10% of your time working on the technology required to run your business.

Now on first glance this statement might seem harmless but living and breathing this philosophy is one of the smartest decisions you will ever make. Success is a sustained persistent effort working ON PROMOTION and not the technology required to run your online enterprise.

As a business coach, I can say the biggest killer to online success is not treating your business like a business. I mean who would expect success if you jump around from opportunity to opportunity without a plan of attack?

The biggest weakness that halts success in its tracks is the jumping on every online opportunity that comes your way and to have no written system, plan or goals to move forward to a logical conclusion. The key therefore is spending your time on one track, one system. A system comprehensive in structure but easy to understand and implement. The key to success is to keep persisting with a system that has documented proof via others that have gone before you. In other applications the process of reverse engineering an already successful enterprise is a very smart way of gaining success.

After working with 146 small business owners with virtually all with an online presence, here are the ten critical components of internet success.
1.Hosting
2.Automated URL
3.Site Builder
4.Email and auto-responder
5.Headline Generator to assist in the copy required for sales pages.
6.Ad tracking so informed decisions are made on what is working and what is not.
7.Web page audio
8.Split-testing
9.Configuration manager.
10.Dashboard to enable easy to follow implementation.

Until recently it was uncommon to discover an affordable way to have access to all of these essential tools. Usually you would have to buy all of the individual software components and this could easily total several hundred dollars.

I've been using Simple Money Machines to create my own affiliate web sites - promoting other people's products and collecting a hefty commission with every sale I make.

The Pros and Cons of Affiliate Marketing

An affiliate marketer is basically a salesman who is paid by commission only. This can be a very profitable situation for a good salesperson, and a bad deal for a poor one. While we think of affiliate marketing in terms of the internet, it has actually been a viable sales model long before the internet was dreamed of. Many salespeople today work for commission only, car salesmen and realtors, just to name two.

The advantages of affiliate products are many. The largest advantage is the low capital costs to start. If you need to maintain an inventory, you will encounter large costs to purchase, store, pack and ship your products. All of these costs are borne by the provider. The affiliate only has to promote the product.

Second, if you choose the wrong product and it doesn't sell, your losses are only the cost of your promotion. If you are on the ball and identify your mistake early, you can cut your losses and move on to a more profitable product. The company who has purchased the inventory has a much larger loss, and a harder decision whether to dump the product and move on, or to continue to promote a bad product.

When selling digital information products the commissions are large, usually 50% or even more. Of course, you would make even more with your own product or with a good quality resale product; however, much of the work is done for you with an affiliate product. You can literally set up everything that you need to do in a weekend (or less) and begin driving traffic to the affiliate sales letter. You don't have to write the ebook or the sales page, and you still get 50% of the sales proceeds. And those dollars are usually pure profit because it cost you nothing to drive the traffic, or at best a small advertising fee. (You do need to keep a close watch on advertising costs.)

Affiliate marketing can be even more profitable it you choose a 2-tier commission provider. Many affiliate programs pay you commissions on all of your sales and a smaller commission on the sales of anyone who signs up under you. With this type of system you can make money even if you don't make a sale.

So, what are the disadvantages? After all I've said you might think that affiliate marketing is an easy way to make money, but that is not really true. Affiliate marketing is hard work. You must work to drive the targeted traffic to your sales page. Of course, you read of people making huge amounts of money in one weekend, but this is not the standard affiliate marketer. These "guru's" usually have an army of affiliates working under them to sell their product. You will be one of those affiliates in the beginning, not the guy at the top making the big money.

So why bother? Well, first affiliate marketing is an excellent way to enter the world of internet marketing. If you can sell someone else's product, then you can sell your own. In selling an affiliate product, you will learn how to promote, what works, and what doesn't. When you are ready to launch your own product, you will have the experience and tools to become the next overnight wonder.

Are You Breaking The Number One Rule of Affiliate Marketing?

by Daryl Campbell

If you hang around any traffic exchange long enough, you see it. No matter what product or service is being offered, the vast majority of affiliate marketers are promoting the exact same website provided by whatever merchant they are affiliate advertising. By doing this they are violating the most important rule of affiliate internet marketing:

Not having their own website.

Using the same page as everyone else is the equivalent of betting on the roulette wheel in Vegas. You are hoping that visitors will select your affiliate site from among the other copycats. Depending on how many affiliates are in your particular program the odds will increase against you.

That is not the only problem. By sending people straight to the main affiliate page without capturing their name and contact information, it is a good bet that you will never see them again. That can be a major blow to your affiliate business, especially if you have other products and services to promote which may have been of interest to your visitors.

Yes there are affiliates who have achieved success almost instantly just by sending visitors to the main sales page. This does not apply to the overwhelming majority. Affiliate business like any business requires patience, hard work and various other factors to numerous to mention. But one of the most important ingredients to online success is to get your own website. So how do you go about creating your affiliate internet marketing website?

1. Decide Beforehand the Affiliate Marketing Program You Want to Promote

Pretty basic right? You would be surprised at how many affiliates do not research their product and target market. Many do not even ask themselves are they really interested in the product or service. Beware of choosing an affiliate program just because it offers a big commission. If you cannot work up any enthusiasm about the product then your visitors will probably feel the same way.

2. Name that Host

Pick an appropriate domain name and title for your website. Do some keyword research using Overture. Now the tendency is to pick the keywords with the highest search results. Avoid this, particularly if you are just launching your affiliate site. High search volume means more competition.

For instance according to the latest Overture results, online dating is searched for 322,178 times per month. But the keyword web dating has only 6,135 searches per month. That means a lot less competition while still having the potential to draw steady web traffic to your affiliate site that can make you a nice profit.

As for your webhost, the requirements should be space (depending on how many affiliate sites you want), customer support, very little downtime and the extension; com, org, net or ws. Get a dot com if possible. Since it is the most prominent, search engines tend to give dot com more weight although some marketers are reporting equally good results using dot org.

3. The Content Easy Site

This is what your affiliate site is all about. Not just a sales page but a content rich site that is easy to navigate. As you learn more about building affiliate sites you can add flash and other media but even then your number one priority will remain site content.

There is plenty of free software that will help you build web pages so you do not have to be an expert. Just start out with a basic design that has clearly readable text and an image of the product or service you are offering. The important thing is to fill your website or blog with tips, articles and news about your niche or related topics. Write as much of your own content as possible (however there is plenty of free information online you can use) and update your site on a regular basis. Turn your affiliate web pages into an authority site.

Make sure when you do build your affiliate site, you have a way to capture your visitors name and contact information. Offer a free ebook or instructional video to entice people. Also give them a promise that you will not spam them or sell their contact information to a third party. Build trust so people will be open to any future offers you may present to them.

No one can guarantee that just by creating your own affiliate site you will be successful. But you can go along way in separating yourself from the pack and exploding your affiliate business by getting your own website now.

The One Niche To Avoid In Your Affiliate Marketing Efforts

by Gayl Seager

So you've just bought the latest and hottest Internet Marketing ebook. You're ready and eager to become the super affiliate marketer you know you can be. You want to apply your newly-learned knowledge and make yourself some easy money online. As you ask yourself which niche to conquer, you remember that the author of the ebook you just bought (in his sales letter or his thank-you page, it doesn't really matter) said his product converts very well and asks you to consider being an affiliate for his book. "Hey," you think to yourself, "I like that idea! I *could* be an affiliate marketer for this Internet Marketing ebook I just bought." Do yourself a big favor. Don't.

The Internet Marketing niche is saturated these days, and unfortunately has been for years. A lot of this saturation is from affiliate marketers like you and me who have bought into the seductive lure of selling affiliate marketing ebooks. You're competing against the vast majority of people who have gotten the same idea that you've gotten about making money on the internet.

Compounding this problem is the chosen method that most affiliates attempt first. Most affiliates, wanting to see a quick return on their purchase, decide that the fastest way to get customers is through pay-per-click marketing. Big mistake. The bids required to get noticed on the Big 3 search engines in 2007 (Google, Yahoo, and MSN) can easily run into the several *dollars* per click range for the most obvious terms like "make money online." You read that right -- several dollars per click. Somebody is making money online here, and it isn't you.

The sad thing is that there are still plenty of untapped niches for your affiliate marketing efforts. You just have to spend the time and energy required to find them. You must also be prepared to cut your losses early if your initial research was wrong and there are no buyers in your targeted niche. Most every guru in Internet Marketing will stress the virtues of persistence, and there's a good reason they all do that. You need to be persistent in order to make money online.

So remember: there's more to making yourself easy money online than selling to the already overcrowded Internet Marketing field. There are too many people chasing too few customers, and the price to compete against your fellow affiliates is prohibitive. The markets are out there; you just need to find the one that's right for you.

Staying On The Cutting Edge Of Being A Successful Affiliate Marketer

My name is Rene Tse. In my early twenties I moved into my mother's condo to regroup and figure out my future. Within two months the living situation evaporated. Her husband staged a fake real estate sale to give me the "big hint" that he wanted me out of his house. I wound up homeless for two days. The first night I slept on the condo grounds of my mother's complex. The second night I slept under a pier near White Rock. I decided after hitting rock bottom and experiencing the freezing temperatures of sleeping in the winter outdoors that I would never allow myself to be put in this position again. I spent two months with a friend and slept in her basement and later worked for one year telemarketing 15 hours a day 7 days a week. In the midst of this telemarketing stint, I patched a three way conference call with a colleague who mentioned how a contact of his sells him leads. I got curious about it and wound up meeting this very individual, who builds websites and optimizes them so they have top ranking in the major search engines. This colleague would later become my mentor and coach.

I purchased my first website from him for a few hundred dollars, the second one cost over a thousand.

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

-Calvin Coolidge

Assessing the situation
The success rate of being a successful affiliate marketer is around 1%. Seven years ago I started out as an affiliate marketer in a class with fifty others. We each made our way in the marketplace over the years. Now only two people from this core group are making a good living working out of their homes. This is yours truly and one good friend.

What happened to the other 48 people that received coaching three times a week, which included the exact tasks to accomplish and reach our goals of ranking organically in Google with select keyword targets? They experienced quick success in the first 6 to 12 months. Some even lasted up until the Florida Update, a Google algorithm change that occurred in December of 2004. The remaining 48 people did not learn quickly enough how to adjust to the new changes that Google required. Many of them went back to working their 9 to 5 jobs. They let go and gave up. The class of 50 was fortunate enough to simply follow a system. All we had to do was get up in the morning and spend at least 8 hours a day 5 to 6 days a week to accomplish those tasks.

Deciding what I wanted to do

After being homeless for only two days, I decided that I would never hit rock bottom again. The answer for me did not include going back to school, getting a degree or climbing the corporate ladder. Many people with MBAs and undergraduate degrees work at jobs where they are one paycheck away from being homeless. What motivated to work 15 hours a day, 7 days a week for the first 4 years of affiliate marketing? I felt this invisible force knocking on my shoulder every minute reminding me that if I didn't succeed I would wind up homeless and broke my entire life. I took up the sport of Judo at the YMCA in the seventh grade. I taught myself everything I needed to know without the guidance of a teacher. I always dreamed that I would compete for Canada in the Olympics. One day my mentor came along and told me to do a specific task, the equivalent of a kung fu teacher asking me to do the horse stance for two hours. This kind of pose can be very painful. The body shakes from the effort of holding a horse stance for that long. The key ingredient here is that I believed in the process and in my mentor. I also had persistence and determination something I developed while training for tournaments in Judo. I just knew even if I did not have many black belts to train with I could use a bungee cord and go in and out of the throw. I knew that if I ran up 8 flights of stairs ten times, I would get in the condition I needed to win. In Judo, you also need to cultivate resilience, if you are thrown over and over again like I did when I trained in Japan when I was 17 by a black belt instructor. I had to get up right away and be ready to fall again.

This was the mindset I took into my affiliate marketing business. If something didn't work, I would consult with my mentor. He would recommend a certain thing to do and I was back working long hours on the computer. I don't recommend that you do what I did. I cut off my friendships. When you work those kind of long hours all you can fit in is time to eat and sleep. Otherwise you will find your partner will want a divorce because you are spending no time with the family.

Persistence Secrets Part I Revealed

I look back on the success of my friend and myself. We are the only people that continue to make a good living at Internet marketing and have ridden the seven years of algorithm changes in Google, Yahoo and MSN. We both possessed: iron will determination, persistence and resilience.

Without:

Without the daily support of my mentor, coupled with the education, the research of my mentor and his team to rank sites in Google, I would not be here today, a successful affiliate marketer.

Without the technology that my mentor invented, seeing the earnings of my mentor's websites on the first day of class reached well over $15, 000 in 3 weeks.

Without the persistence, determination and resilience I would not be building new websites and having the passion to put useful content on my blogs and have my sites rank in Google, Yahoo and MSN.

Harriett Salinger, a life coach says.'I think people know wha they want. What they need are arms to hold them as they make the discovery. Coaching is hard work, but it isn't gut-wrenching. It isn't like, 'Oh, this happened to me when I was 3 and it was so terrible.' It's more emotion in the moment, rather than stored emotion. If you are making a change in your life, there might be some sense of loss. Or if you are getting out of a dead end relationship, you might be feeling anger. But these are emotions that arise from the situation.'

Being in an atmosphere with your coach where you can learn to do positive self talk, where you will be encouraged with your ideas and being accountable for the tasks or assignments that you will need to do is the secret in having the persistence to overcome any obstacle that will come your way.

It's not easy to build and optimize a blog and have a 3 word keyword phrase rank in Google within the first week of the Google bot spiders crawling it. Most SEO consultants will tell their clients to be patient and there may be a 1 year wait to optimize your website to rank in the major search engines. The infamous google sand box. I can speak from experience that with the right combination of skills, you can rank a blog, in my case I ranked 2 blogs in 2 different market niches and within 1 week, my pages appeared on the first pages of Google. Now this is where the hard work begins, where you need to optimize for keywords that are well searched.

Lastly, don't forget to also learn about email marketing, Pay per click marketing as these are other fabulous ways to build a list of loyal customers in your business mix. This way, if you website does lose its rankings off the first page in google, you won't be pounding the pavement looking for a JOB!

Affiliate Marketing - 10 Reasons Why You Continue To Fail

These are 10 things you should avoid when dealing with affiliate marketing. If you have found that you have been unsuccessful being an affiliate one or more of these 10 common mistakes may be the reason.

1. Get rich quick syndrome – If you are like I was when I first started I got into affiliate marketing thinking I can advertise a few links and the profits will start rolling in. Not only did I find this wasn’t true, I found myself actually losing money with advertising programs such as Google Adwords.

2. Inaccurate keyword research – Many times I find people jump into PPC advertising without knowing how to accurately target the most effective keywords. This can cost you big if you’re getting lots of clicks that aren’t converting into sales because they are outside of your target market. Before starting every campaign I suggest running test ad’s to accurately define your target market.

3. Lack of persistence – If at first you don’t succeed, try again. That saying was made for affiliate marketing. The first time around you may lose a few dollars promoting a product or program. You have to learn to not quit when you’re down. When first starting out it is very common to lose money before you start earning profits. My first month in affiliate marketing I lost around $300 with Google Adwords.

4. Not Analyzing Stats – Analyzing you’re stats is very important when it comes to affiliate marketing. You have to know what works and what doesn’t. Checking which advertisement produces the highest conversion rate is often times overlooked by new affiliate marketers. If you are running 2 ads and 1 of them is converting at 20% and the other is not converting at all, it would be in your best interest to stop the non converting campaign. How would you know this if you are not analyzing your stats?

5. Promoting the wrong product – I guess this would be an obvious one. If you just aren’t having success with marketing a product, it may be the product itself. It could be a bad pitch page or a sub par product. If you have tried everything and you still aren’t having success with a particular product it may be time to pack it up and move on to the next product.

6. You aren’t pre-selling – A while back when I first started I remember throwing affiliate links in Google Adwords. This was never effective. Not to mention Google has since banned this type of promoting. I suggest registering a domain and enticing people with a short sales page to buy the product. Your sales page could be just a positive review about how the product has helped you.

7. Promoting too many products – The saying “less is more” definitely applies to successful affiliate marketing. I use to believe the more products I promoted the higher chance I had of making a sale. The problem is your being stretched to thin, usually resulting in not being able to provide the required focus on a particular product. You want to be able to analyze your stats and focus on promoting one product more effectively.

8. Quit promoting get rich quick schemes – I hate them so I had to add this to the list. Many people are catching on to these worthless schemes. They are nothing more than useless information that people buy in hopes of pursuing their dream of financial freedom. Please if you are promoting that garbage please stop, and try promoting a useful product.

9. Not trying before you promote – How can you entice someone else to buy a product that you have not tried yourself. 9 times out of 10 if you find the product to be junk, other customers will also. It’s important to run tests to accurately review all aspects of the product. You want to avoid having your sales page sound like a regurgitation of their sales page.

10. Promoting niches with too many affiliates – Competing with other affiliates can never be avoided. The key is minimizing the competition by promoting products that don’t already have too many affiliates. This is good because generally certain keywords may have lower bids for the top spot in less populated niches. The higher the bid on a keyword the lower profit you make from each sale.

Getting Good Domain Name to Boost Up Your Online Sales

A successful online business is very much linked to the human mindset. A successful affiliate or network marketer leverages on human psychology to profit on their business. In an internet world, your site URL is more or less like a physical address/location of a traditional business. (I am using address and location interchangeably because the address determines the location.) Taking an example from a traditional business, which Coffee Bean store would you remember better? One which is situated in a well known location and the other in a less prominent location? Of course, it will be the first location. In doing an online business, the URL is going to make a lot of difference to your sales. The address matters.

A good domain name is important not for you but for others. A good domain name is something which anyone can remember the moment they set their eyes on it. These are essentially some of the extremely powerful domain names that can make a lot of money if you were to own a domain name like those. Anyone can relate to the content of the sites by just looking at the domain names. See how powerful and effective a good domain name is! Of course, it is impossible to buy a good domain names like those unless you are willing to forge out hundreds of thousands or even millions from your pocket.

What I am bringing across to you is to impress upon you that simple tactics like having a good domain name is pertinent in your online business. These phrase-like domain name give a prelude to the content in the site. The domain name which read as 'income while sleep dot com' tells you that it has something to do with earning income while sleeping. And most probably the site owner who uses this domain name may be promoting his affiliate business. It is catchy enough for other people to remember.

To get a good and affordable domain name for your site, you can visit to purchase a domain name. Simply type your domain name in the domain name search box to check its availability. This is to make sure that your domain name you want to purchase is not taken up. The purchasing cost ranges from $1.99 to $8.95 yearly (depending on the availability) which is quite affordable. Some of the very good domain may be taken up and you may require to back order or to buy from a domain buy agent which basically means a much higher price to pay.

Alternatively, you may want to get your site an expired domain names. The reason is simple. Some of the expired domain names were on the net for a few years and had made themselves quite highly targeted with good traffic. You may want to leverage on that and choose a name which is suitable for your site. An expired domain names which Page Rank of 5 or above is considered a good one.

$10,000 Monthly From a Simple List

Ask any Top Affiliate Marketer and they will tell you it‘s in the list. In order to truly reach success in affiliate marketing you must build a quality list of prospects/customers that have requested information from you. This could be a weekly newsletter, report or e-book that you provide as a free service in exchange for their email.

Over time you will began to build a list of people that have requested additional information to your weekly newsletter, free course, e-book, etc. If you have a well written website and offer something of value your list can grow rather quickly.

Image building a list of 10,000 customers that read your weekly newsletter. Over time your customers develop a trust in your opinion due to providing valuable content and providing free tools to use to help improve their business. Now you have 10,000 customers that value your opinion. Very powerful…here is why.

You send an email notifying your list of 10,000 about a new product that has produced excellent results for you and for a limited time, you are offering at a reduced price of $29.95 before posting on your website. If only 1% purchase you just made $2,995.00 by spending 10 minutes sending out one simple email.

Now image doing that every week…over $10,000 every month!!!

So you may be asking how do I develop a list?

To build a great list of customers one must have their own website and unique domain name. This not only gives you the freedom to customize your own site but allows you to have a “Catch Page” as your home page. A catch page is a page that provides a catchy headline and content that sparks interest in your prospects getting them to give you their name and email address to receive additional information or a service such as a newsletter.

People are searching online for information. If they run across your website but may not have time to read page after page of information they are more likely to provide you with their email so you can send information to them to review at a later date. This works very well and takes place everyday.

Majority of people that get into affiliate marketing simply fail because they believe marketing the ads and websites provided by their affiliate company they will become rich. The problem with this is 80% of them are promoting the same ads and websites so the market becomes saturated with the same information. To truly succeed in affiliate marketing, you must have your own website to capture your prospects email and promote your services. Do that and over time you will reach your goals. The key points to remember are to get your own website/domain name, use a catch page as your home page and build a quality list to promote to.

One piece of advice, if you provide a newsletter please be sure to update and submit consistently. The last thing you want to do loose customers and trust.

5 Ways To Be A Better Affiliate

We've all been there. You sign up to an affiliate program and you obtain your affiliate link....and then you stare at it. Staring at your affiliate link will not make you any money. Neither will spamming your link over myspace or forums. If you are doing that stop it...it is either illegal or it should be illegal. In this short article I will give you 5 steps in the right direction.

#1
Buy a domain and hosting package. The best way to get something indexed on the web for people to see, is to put it there on a piece of "Virtual Real Estate" that you own. Remember, you don't get something for nothing so plunk down a little cash and start building your own site.

#2
Arm yourself with all the free tools you can get. Don't own Adobe Dreamweaver? No problem, NVU or Trellian Web page are two free site building tools that will get you to an acceptable level of web design. Hey...it's free. Bookmark www.download.com you can search for tons of free programs there, and better yet you can filter out the trial period software and search for only free license software (meaning it is really, really free).

#3
Build your own email list. This is another step that is crucial if you want to make a substantial amount of income online. Some clients I work with are able to make sales only because they are able to promote to 50,000+ targeted leads at the click of a button. I suggest 1shoppincart.com for beginners. First of all it's inexpensive, and also, if you ever want to create your own product, you can upgrade your service level to include a shopping cart. For now, all you want is to capture leads through a squeeze page or newsletter opt-in.

#4
Get a blog and use it. Blogs are free. Get one and update it daily.

#5
Dabble in Pay-Per-Click advertising. It may not be for you, so sign up for a google adwords account and try it out. You can set a budget, so keep that in mind while you test it out. I personally made my first check from PPC sales as an affilaite of dentalplans.com. PPC is now incredibly complex so you may want to study up on the subject before you throw your change at the strategy.

Well, those are my 5 steps. All of them can and are easily expanded into a science of their own. Now you get an idea of what it takes to earn income online through affiliate programs...a lot of work. Not to worry though once you get good at it, it will seem easy. As any thing in life the beginning is not easy, but marketing as an affiliate can be incredibly rewarding.

Cheers, and I'll see you out there.

Article Marketing 101 For Affiliate Program Managers

This article is for Affiliate Program Managers: Interested in increasing the amount of revenue that each of your affiliates creates for your business? Read on to learn about how to use your existing articles to grow your affiliate program strength.

From an affiliate perspective, there are only a few 'deal breaker' type things that I insist any affiliate program that I join must provide me:

  • Real-time reporting statistics
  • Real-time email alerts upon each sale
  • Payment on a consistent monthly basis
  • High price-point products
  • Package of articles that I can reprint on my websites and ezines
  • One strategy that many newbie affiliate program designers fail to offer is a package of articles that can be reprinted on my website along with my unique affiliate link. Of the tens of thousands of dollars I'll do this year as an affiliate, you would be shocked at how much of the revenue comes directly from reprinting articles of the affiliate programs I am involved in. This strategy works for me and it can work for you!

    Here's what to do:

  • Designate 10, 25, 50, 75 or 100 articles that will be made available to your affiliates as a dump (meaning all at once and immediately).
  • Provide them with 3-10 articles per month thereafter that they can reprint along with their affiliate link.
  • Be certain to spell out the reprint rights of this type of affiliate article marketing so that your articles don't show up on bad websites you wouldn't want to associate with.
  • Here's what NOT to do:

  • Allow your articles to be private labeled. This is a poor strategy and will dilute your credibility. They should carry your name or the name of your primary author brand.
  • Don't give out all of your articles for your affiliates to use. Best to designate a specific "lot" of them that can be used by your affiliates and the rest are yours to keep exclusively for your direct sales audience.
  • Why this type of article marketing is important for affiliate program managers and affiliates:

Articles are like "sales agents" in that they keep selling for you, day after day, year after year. They also help expand your reach as each article gets indexed by the major search engines. Lastly, they give you another reason to send an email to your list members about the articles available.

This is a credibility builder for the affiliate program manager and it's a "Give" before the "Take" which begins the reciprocation cycle in a positive direction.

Note For Affiliates Who Use Articles To Promote Their Affiliate Programs:

Some sites (like ours at http://EzineArticles.com/ ) don't accept articles that promote affiliate programs, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go find other sites that do accept articles that promote affiliate program links. I really meant this article to speak directly to affiliate program managers and not the needs of affiliate marketers.

To save you the trouble of sending me an email to ask why EzineArticles.com doesn't accept articles that promote affiliate programs, there are three reasons:

    1) Because we don't accept articles that are available on a non-exclusive basis (meaning we only want to see original or exclusive licensed content) and...

    2) Because affiliate marketers are not our ideal author profile type and...

    3) Because most ezine publishers don't want to reprint articles that pitch an affiliate link. One of the primary purposes of our site is to be a resource for ezine publishers to find supplemental content for their next email newsletter.

With that said, there are plenty of competitor article sites that will allow you to submit your affiliate-link-laced articles, not to mention listing them on your own website.

Bottom line: If you offer an affiliate program to promote your products and services, consider immediately offering a package of articles that your affiliates can add to their website or send to their email newsletter lists to further promote your business.

    About The Author:

Christopher M. Knight invites you to submit your best articles for massive exposure to the high-traffic http://EzineArticles.com/ directory. When you submit your articles to EzineArticles.com, your articles will be picked up by ezine publishers who will reprint your articles with your content and links intact giving you traffic surges to help you increase your sales. To submit your article, setup a membership account today: http://EzineArticles.com/submit/

    Internet Affiliate Success

Do you want to become a highly paid affiliate?

This is one of the best on-line earning models that you can pursue.

Lucrative and easy-to-set up, affiliate income can become an auto pilot business for you once it is in place.

But you have to get it right to make it work. Consider these 10 steps to affiliate success.

    1) Soft sell, don't hard sell. Give your visitor useful information, don't just hit them over the head with a sales pitch, flashy banners, and multiple order links.

Talk to your visitor like they qre a friend you are telling about a great movie you saw last night or a fantastic restaurant you dined at recently.

People love to hear a friend's experience, but they hate a sale pitch.

    2) Focus on one message.

If you're building a site or a page for the item you are selling, limit it to just that item.

Don't load your page with links and banners for many products and services. You will confuse your visitor and they won't stay for long on your page.

When you talk with a friend, you discuss something in a leisurely manner. You don't wildly bombard your friend with sales pitches for everything under the sun.

Do the same for your cyber friends--your site visitors.

    3) Find a profitable affiliate program.

You will do just as much to make one dollar as you will to make ten dollars, so why not make the extra nine dollars?

Investigate affiliate programs for the most profitable goods and services before you commit to anything.

    4) Choose your affiliate partners wisely.

It can really ruin your day when you make a sale and the program you teamed up with doesn't pay you or doesn't pay on time.

Merchants associated with Commission Junction, Linkshare, or Clickbank can be trusted to pay you fairly and on time.

You can also expect lots of tools to make your sales job easier, such as prewritten letters and graphic images.

    5) Tighten up the copy on your page.

If you are creating a web site, register a domain name that pertains to the product you are selling. If you are developing a single page, name the page as close to your product offering as possible.

Make it clear what your site or page is about.

    6) Build your site or page for the search engines as well.

Include your keywords several times on the page to draw in the search engines and get your site ranked well.

Don't try sneaky techniques such as overloading your page with keywords or making the keywords the same color as the background. Search engines are way smarter than that and will ban you instead of list you.

    7) Submit your site to the search engines and build more pages to attract those hungry search engine spiders.

Just like feeding a stray cat, the more you offer food (content), the more the search engines will come back.

    8) Consider offering a newsletter on your page.

It often takes seven communications with someone before they respond positively to your offer.

Why not offer a newsletter or e-course that keeps your message in front of the potential customer? Otherwise, when the visitor leaves your site, you've lost them for good.

    9) Know your visitor.

You know your friends, obviously, so get to know your site visitor. Provide them with what they want in terms of information, products, and services.

Once they buy from you, you can then offer something else that they would be interested in.

    10) Create new information and services for your visitors to keep them coming back.

Free To Join Affiliate Programs - Avoid The Free To Join Affiliate Programs Scams Online

As an affiliate marketer gunning for the free to join affiliate programs one of the hardest nuts you must crack open is how to exactly spend cash and return a healthy ROI – return on investment. I often hear some guys boasting about spending certain amount of money and making certain amount in return.

This is not an exact science and it is a touch battle to win. In other words, it is good to spend money to promote your affiliate site, but you must also make good profits then you’re spending. But if care is not taken you will certainly end up losing your shirt..

Now, let me share few tips you can follow to avoid ending up in the red:

    1) Let your expectations be realistic

It is very possible to make lots and lots of cash by setting up affiliate marketing websites, however, do not expect to be making $1000’s monthly in a flash. All products are not the same and a sell in a different way, and finding that perfect niche takes time.

Again, bear in mind the importance of experience in the world of affiliate marketing, especially in the free to join affiliate programs online. The more experience and exposure you garner, the better you’ll do. Be patient, stick with it and you’ll witness your profits grow with your experience level.

    2) Learn and master salient methods to advertise proficiently

I am sure you’ve seen the small ads on the top and right hand side of Google pages. They are called Adwords and are affordable and easy way to advertise your affiliate site. Because Google performs 100’s of thousands of web-based searches per seconds, the chances of a search that would trigger your set of key words is pretty high.

But remember that for each time your ad appears, you will pay Google a fee. So ensure that you are getting the most value out of each sale because, otherwise, Google is making money off you instead of you making money off of your customers.

    3) Make sure your affiliate partner is trustworthy

If you are just coming into the affiliate marketing world for the first time, you may consider hanging out with the big companies like MoreNiche. This will enable you to avoid those dishonest hoards of scams posing as credible free to join affiliate programs.

Until you learn the ropes of affiliate marketing, it might be wise to go with a big company that is proven to pay you huge commission, and treat you with respect. You see, affiliate internet marketing has become a huge industry and very lucrative, therefore attracting some scammers looking to cheat innocent people online.

The skilled affiliate understands what it entails and can easily detect any deception. But if you are a newbie, it is better to stick with well-known, proven program, learn the ropes and discover the intricacies and SECRETS of cost of promotion and revenue balance.

But the best method is to join a strong internet marketing training program where human MENTORS will take-you-by-the-hand and walk-you-through-the-ropes. Learning from those who already know what you’re trying to know has been proven as the best route to achieve success, right from the ancient days till today.

And it is even more important if you want to cut the chase and enter the lucrative free to join affiliate programs world! I wish you good luck and a resounding success!
